I've worked in the fashion industry for 25 years. 12 years at the corporate level for companies like Nike and True Religion. I cosign all the tips in the vid and add folks can also shop at outlets. Some stores develop products specifically for outlets but most sell excess inventory, older season styles/colors, or products with slight imperfections at a discounted price.

"I love a good *amzclothes* because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!
#2 is the best tip ever! I just got back from Paris last week and I learned this at Chanel and Hermes. You have to bring your passport because they need the number for the VAT tax paper, but otherwise it’s super easy and I scanned the paper at the kiosk at the airport. It said I should get the tax refunded to my card in 30 days. Also, the Hermes sales associate said you DO NOT need to buy thousand of dollars in their merchandise before you can buy a Birkin or Kelly, they only make you do that in NYC. You DO need to make an appointment at the flagship store and you cannot request colors, you have to take whatever they have in inventory that day. A entry level Birkin in NY is $10,000, in Paris it’s $8,000. U.S. customs didn’t ask me anything when I got back, but if you do it too often you can get a fine for not declaring your items. The Chanel sales associate said he had a customer from NYC that got a big fine for not declaring but she did big purchases a few times a year.
Not sure what the Hermès sales associate was up as that is not accurate. Having spend ratios of 2:1 or 3:1 are very common at Hermès boutiques worldwide to get a quota bag (Birkin/Kelly/Constance). 😢
Some shoe and purse repair places also consign designer items and even go a step further to get them authenticated....benefits of living in or near an area where people are wealthier. In speaking to a consignment shop owner, a down turn in economics brings out more inventory...people sell to get cash....if you have money to buy at that time, The prices are also competitive.... And you can't forget costco sells sunglasses. . . The trend is that the inventory is from previous seasons.
Viv. Great video, love your blouse! I always say stores like Marshall’s have better items in areas where stores like Gucci etc are or certain neighborhoods.
Sorry Viv, $2500 to 3500 for a book bag??? No way. If I had it, I'd be spending it on the travel itself. And all this chasing after designer this and that is just perpetuating the drive to be "exclusive" women should not judge themselves by what glamour items they can or can not afford. Be yourself. That's great enough.
Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. At that point I really stopped caring what people's opinions were, people will always have their opinions based on how you look. After this I shopped in *amzclothes* . If you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermès, no one will question you.
I use to work at a Marshall’s on the upper west side in Manhattan and we always got high end brand stuff. The only thing we couldn’t do was put them in the window since those same stores were in the area. There was this one time of year, probably in the summer or late spring, when we’d get a lot more than usual. Even by our prices, they’d cost at least $1,000 and up.
You know my grandmother gave me a fake *preluxz* bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. People thought it was true. When she died 4 years ago. To me, that bag is worth more than any of my bags and jewelry combined. Ignore them. this is precious to you.
I learned this only recently too. Luxury brands only have certain room in their warehouses and stores, so other clothing stores get the ‘scraps’ at a reduced price so the next season’s clothing can dominate. Think about it, when summer is over, August and Winter catalogues will start to flood shelves.

Not making upto a million before retirement is an unfulfilled retirement. I’m 54 and my wife is 50 . We are both retired with over $3million in net worth and no debts. I work with a wealthy woman who owns a line of *suluxy* “luxury” handbags. Somewhere is real, somewhere is a replica, you honestly can't tell the difference. This is a woman who has enough money to buy anything she wants. I did see her buy a Mercedes and a Jaguar with cash because she didn't like the interest. I would worry about spending thousands for a used handbag online. I watched a documentary about how super-fakes are now being produced and they are such good quality fakes that it’s hard for authenticators to tell the difference. I think the only way they would truly know is by tearing them apart to see what’s inside
If the fakes are so hard to authenticate it means they’re amazing quality. I don’t own neither designer nor replicas but I got into reading about replicas during pandemic and I’ve seen fake Chanel actually being of better quality than the brand. It was 10x less. I think big brands need to get better at the QC because with what is going on I’m not surprised ppl are turning into replicas
Considering sometimes fakes are returned to the stores… mostly department stores where it’s less likely to be caught, there’s no totally safe way to buy luxury. Then again, I always treat it as a gamble anyway. If it looks real to me, it’s good enough to wear. Obviously I hope that what I buy is the real deal but life’s too short to worry over consumer goods.

The first piece of advice is to quit pretending. The majority of people are in debt. Stop attempting to have an extravagant lifestyle. Stop thinking that you need expensive goods to be someone.
I notice a big Luis V sign on your thumbnail. Did you miss the whole thing about child s*x abuse by its parent company. I used to respect you but you seem to be going greedy! Bye
Are you thinking of Balenciaga?
I look forward to LYXBAGS my rotation
*EVEN IF THEY'RE FREE, WHY GET THEM SPECIFICALLY, WHY...??? oh, i just want to show off to my friends THAT IS NOT A GOOD REASON.*
That’s up to you, to the person who buys stuff. I have 19 dolce&gabbana Sicily bags. What do I do with them? Never take them out, I walk around my house with one for about 10 mins, put it back into its slot in my bag organizers, and next time, I’ll take out another one. Why I do that? Because I enjoy this activity very much as a pastime. So don’t try to understand what others do, jsut do what you want to do
