Excellent job! Thank you for taking the time to share this. I have a MX5 with a custom fastback hardtop that I’ve been wanting to make louvres for and this is the best diy I’ve seen.
I was going to say something about putting on some good 3M sticky padding but at the end I see you mentioned it. So thats awesome. I want some for my 2017 F-Type because here in the USA no one seems to make these. But my budget won't allow for the tools i need. But perhaps I will see if i can get what i need tool wize little by little. If i can get a goodnsystem down for making them I could bank because there are a lot of F-Type in San Antonio, Texas and im sure if i made some, i would get asked to make more.
hey bro do you know if there is a similar rear window as an 1987 g100 daihatsu charade 5 door hatch? I can't find louvres anywhere for mine so trying to see if i can find one that will work before i get one made. Im really loving this design and is my favourite yet so may even see if i can just get you to fab one and send it over :D
Hey buddy, I'm not aware of any which would work for that car unfortunately. Luckily enough a lad i know locally owns a 3 door charade gtti so i might be able to take a look and grab a pattern to design one 👍
@@zdawg5294 unfortunately i could only make louvres for classic cars with rubber sealed glass. Bonded glass will require a different technique to mount the louvre
looks amazing brother! what thickness sheet did you use on the louvres? been lusting after something like this for my ma61 and your video finally pushed me over the edge to start measuring and give a try myself.
@Junk Account that's great to hear! I used 2mm thick aluminium for the louvre slats, and 1mm thick aluminium for the plate which sits underneath the seal and secures the hinges 👍
@@SeductiveVenom That's great! Good luck with it. Please keep me updated as I would love to see the finished design 👍I am currently in the process of designing and building some side louvres for an early corolla sadan for a guy in Mexico. Thankyou for your kind words 🙏 I haven't but interestingly enough i have friends with both a liftback and coupe ra28. They both run louvres so if i was to make some, i have the perfect opportunity to gather the measurements 👍
I would imagine it is possible, but you would have to find a way of fixing it to the screen and work out the angles required for the shape of the glass. It took me a little while to work all this out 👍
@@ukautocollective hi so what do u mean, will u make it and I fit it, I'm abit confused about me working out the angles. Will u be able to make it to a perfect fit and I get it attached or will I have to do more.
Wow nice fitment! I've got 2 different style louvers for the ae86, if it would help you I can send you photos+ information I have so you can further refine your design on these
I had to do a few test pieces before i was happy with the angle which aloud it to sit correctly. I have all the measurements written down so i can reference them to know what each length should be 👍
@@ukautocollective ok. I thought about making my own louvers, but I would like the bendings to be round. I have a hydraulic press, so I thought that I could make a tool for the press, so I could bend those lines but they would still be round. You think that would work?
This video is so helpful thanks! Looks so much better than the ridiculously expensive plastic ones for my old Volvo

Lol. The way you say Aluminum is awesome. Im in the USA so im sure I say it funny to you but it sounds funny to me as well. Love it. 😁 Do go on.
Just found your channel and love the work you do on the AE86. I have a coupe albeit not as nice as yours...yet.

Totally awesome descriptive vid. Love your process and I’m now inspired to make my own for my 1988 Toyota 4x4 van!! Thanks so much!

Very awesome!!!
Beautiful!
Would you recommend this on a daily driver, or would there be too much rattle at highway speeds?
@leovulpes4917 thankyou. These don't rattle at all as they are secured into place. I can't see this being an issue on a daily driver 👍
this vid really wil help me making my own louvre great job bro

Such a good video 👍 I have a question about cars that have a rounded bottom edge on the glass - what would you do to hide that or not bother ?
@whywait It depends how round the glass is really. If it was an obvious curve i would design it so that the slats followed the contour of the glass 👍

Thinking of making these for my mk4 escort. Is the windshield wiper still usable after installation?
Not with this louvre but you can raise the angle to utilise the wiper operation 👍
👍👍👍
I was gonna make a video! Nice! The algorithm knows lol
What are you using to add the bolt threads on
