I was there a few years ago. You can sense the request of silence and respect at the tomb of the unknowns without having to hear it from anyone, you can feel it in the air and in the surroundings. The place is incredible.
The last time I went, I had a not yet 2 year old. She was "trained" to stop and be quiet when she heard the National Anthem. All I had to do was whisper "Oohhh can" and she came to a very quick skidded halt. This was just before "Changing of the Guard" Stood still until it was over. All my kids have been taught the same thing. If they can't see the flag, they are to turn towards the voice singing. People got mad because we stopped short at a baseball game. They were 10+ steps behind us. That's the ONLY TIME I ever said anything. We were told "pure stupidity" I answered back "NO, PURE RESPECT" and told my kids not to move.
I was there on Memorial Day when a woman went under and inside the velvet rope. The guard continued to a certain position in his walk, stopped and in the same forceful voice informed her he could shoot her for violating that area. Even babies were silenced. I wish I could remember what he said. My respect increased. I knew the tomb deserved a quiet, respectful atmosphere. After, I saw the area, not just the tomb, as sacred ground.
That is actual incorrect, If he shot that women then the whole crowd would go into a panic. Also those rifles they don't actually have any ammo in them for safety reasons if one of the guns goes off. For violating that area she may be charged for trespassing and she is being hated by the Internet and the military this is really a perfect punishment for her.
No that is incorrect. If you you were smart you would know that that The Tomb guards do not carry live ammo. Instead you just say "They can still shoot lmfao" I want you to know that is just terrible of you that you put no time or research to prove your statement. Guess what Imfao cause of how stupid you can be about a topic that you decided to get yourself Involved in.

Sorry, served on active duty for 8 years. They carry no ammo. Again, they are a ceremonial guard... Do NOT however, think that makes them ineffective, you would find out quickly to your detriment otherwise. It is much less the soldiers there protecting the tomb who should be respected. It's the fallen soldiers, those whom will never be known, who should be shown the utmost respect. That is what the guards are there to do as well. It absolutely baffles me, knowing that some people can't follow two simple requests. Silence, and respect.

I was there a few years ago. You can sense the request of silence and respect at the tomb of the unknowns without having to hear it from anyone, you can feel it in the air and in the surroundings. The place is incredible.
It’s a very peaceful place really that whole place is it’s also very meaningful
