Why she is talking and not getting in her car is because this man followed them, the moment she unlocks the door, he's most likely going to try to get in, and that is terrifying. Like as she's talking, hopefully to de-escalate the situation and hoping he goes away on his own, she's most likely trying to psych herself up to be ready to quickly open and get in the car before he has the chance to grab the door. He's literally not backing away and leaning on her car, he's waiting for her the unlock it. She's not staying for a chat, she's trying to get him to leave, at least far enough where she can get in the car safely.

As a mother who has raised Three daughters. Girls are taught to be nice. They shouldn’t have got him a Lyft ride or thanked him for the drinks. Definitely better to be perceived as mean than as a tragedy. My sister, cousin, and I watched my mother beat a drunk guy down in a bar parking lot several years ago. He tried to take her keys from her hand after following her out of the bar (us being there at all is a different story). He followed us out when she decided to leave because he wouldn't leave her alone. Both of their grips on the keys gave her leverage, her pipe yard job gave her strength, and the big rings she wore gave her extra stopping power. Her steel-toed boots made sure he stayed down. The whole situation never should have happened, but at least we made it out alive.

The sad thing is, almost every girl or woman watching this has had similar experiences. I’ve had multiple people try to follow me home. I’ve been harassed by multiple men who were driving past me while I was walking home. I even had one guy pull into the driveway right in front of me! It was terrifying.

My feeling is that anyone worth entering into a relationship with, should first and last be kind, decent, thoughtful. What someone looks like, and I always assumed for many others, is tangential. However, I suppose there is a cunning and superficial sort of person, who will assess a woman, or a man, and aim to exploit them, based only on what they look like. That's an indictment of those people. I have gone out with lots of women, from all over the world, and of all different types of physical appearances. I can never compare any of them based on physical attractiveness, but only on their personalities, because that's the true precursor to physical attraction. Even in terms of simple lust, it's hard to maintain any sort of desire, at least for me, without any knowing who the person is. Because if you look at a person and consider them physically attractive without having an attractive personality, it is almost like looking at a model, or a celebrity. You can tell they have regular features, but you never think about going out with them. Because you don't know them. I would have hoped most people think the way I do, but perhaps that's naive. Being harassed sucks for anyone. I have been harassed by men and women..the women would grab certain parts of my body, or would shout things out at me which made me embarrassed. But the men, they would attack me. I think being harassed by a female stranger can be surprising and off-putting, but being harassed by a male can be dangerous. I've worked at a gas station very bad neighborhood for years and seen more than two hundred uses of mace/pepper spray. Upwards of fifty percent of men walk straight through pepper spray, no effect. Another third were still able to get off an attack before it hobbled them. It is not really useful at all especially the way TV/movies makes it seem. It does sting for hours afterwards but depending on pain tolerance it is useless. I've never seen anyone walk through a gun though and most times it doesn't even need to be fired. There's a lot of creeps and thugs out and about so training yourself with a firearm is a must for women unfortunately. Don't rely on pepper spray

Yeah especially depending on what kind of keys you have if it's the little clicky button ones it unlocks all the doors. So he'll have every door to choose from to get into the car. If it's the regular old school handheld key that takes too long and you're not going to get in quick enough.
@@deannas2778 I have a key fob that automatically unlocks my car when I stand at the driver or front passenger door (which will really help in an emergency if I’m trying to quickly get in my car). I had the option to let my fob automatically unlock all four car doors when I get in, but I set it in my settings to only unlock the front two doors for this exact situation. No way in hell I want some dude following me to jump into the back while I’m trying to make a quick escape. It’s a little bit of a hassle sometimes when I’m with friends and I have to unlock the back doors from the inside, but I know the 1% change of it saving my life makes it worth it to have everyday.

Something like this happened to me. I was with a friend of mine when some creepy ass man started to hit on us and the worst part was that my friend wouldn’t stop talking to him when I told her a million damn times to go away from him. Back in my clubbing days I would regularly encounter clingy, drunk, or even aggressive dudes. One even grabbed my wrist (a total stranger) and said "don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you". Another time I was walking to my car and I heard a guy who was walking behind me say to his 2 friends, "I don't want anything to do with this" A cold chill shot up my spine and I was instantly sick to my stomach. I got out my taser and warned them, but that just made them more aggressive bc all drunk men think they can handle being tazed. Then I pulled out my pepper spray and they backed off. I guess ending their evening with a snot filled cry was scary enough for them, and, of couse, being pepper sprayed. This is why in my country girls tend to have couple of guy friends they go out with to watch their back, and we usually make friends as children and remain friends for life, so any girl growing up among guys ends up being "little sister" of the group who look out for her. This happened to me in Vegas on a work trip. I was trying to go up to my room and this guy was following me around and when I got to the elevators I was scared to go up because I didn’t want to risk him forcing his way into my room. I told him my husband was with me and waiting for me in the room, but he kept saying “no, I’m pretty sure you’re alone”.I was telling him to leave me alone, luckily an older gentleman that was with his wife overheard and told him to leave me alone and waited for me to take the elevator up and made sure he didn’t go into it with me. This! I was a bouncer for 20 years. Anytime a girl told me she was scared or uncomfortable for ANY reason I would immediately grab backup and escort the girl safely to her car. If she didn’t have one wed get her a cab home. I took situations like this very seriously. I tried to protect the girls who came to my bar the way Id want my sisters or my daughter protected in that same situation.
I worked at a bar and grill and even though we don't have bouncers or security we do have a part of our training to help people in these exact situations. If a woman told any member of staff of being harassed by a creep we, as a team would work to distract him or keep him away from you long enough to get away safely. He tried to take her keys from her hand after following her out of the bar (us being there at all is a different story). He followed us out when she decided to leave because he wouldn't leave her alone. She is caring and affectionate, assertive and curious. Those factors trump anything else. If her face had been burned off, and she was physically disfigured to the point of being unrecognisable, but she didn't change her personality, I would still love her, because, she'd be the same person.
My feeling is that anyone worth entering into a relationship with, should first and last be kind, decent, thoughtful. What someone looks like, and I always assumed for many others, is tangential.
However, I suppose there is a cunning and superficial sort of person, who will assess a woman, or a man, and aim to exploit them, based only on what they look like. That's an indictment of those people. I have gone out with lots of women, from all over the world, and of all different types of physical appearances. I can never compare any of them based on physical attractiveness, but only on their personalities, because that's the true precursor to physical attraction.
Even in terms of simple lust, it's hard to maintain any sort of desire, at least for me, without any knowing who the person is. Because if you look at a person and consider them physically attractive without having an attractive personality, it is almost like looking at a model, or a celebrity.
You can tell they have regular features, but you never think about going out with them. Because you don't know them.

I've worked at a gas station very bad neighborhood for years and seen more than two hundred uses of mace/pepper spray. Upwards of fifty percent of men walk straight through pepper spray, no effect. Another third were still able to get off an attack before it hobbled them. It is not really useful at all especially the way TV/movies makes it seem. It does sting for hours afterwards but depending on pain tolerance it is useless.
I've never seen anyone walk through a gun though and most times it doesn't even need to be fired.
There's a lot of creeps and thugs out and about so training yourself with a firearm is a must for women unfortunately.

Yeah especially depending on what kind of keys you have if it's the little clicky button ones it unlocks all the doors. So he'll have every door to choose from to get into the car. If it's the regular old school handheld key that takes too long and you're not going to get in quick enough.

I would have told him to leave and then slowly, very slowly while the camera was filming him (proof that I wasn't trying to commit vehicular manslaughter.), inched my way out of the parking space and then when the coast was clear, sped out to ticket gate and warned the gate keeper (if there was one--their should be an attendant or two always, especially at night.) about disturbing acting man, I would have embellished, trying to get into women's cars and harassing them, then drove to the freeway and drove around just incase being followed (he might have had accomplices.) for maybe a half hour. Oh, if I got the chance I would have emptied my pepper spray in is eyes. I should carry a few, or a mega size in the car.

I've had a guy follow me to work and wouldn't leave me alone and I kept trying to be polite and brush him off as I was alone and didn't want to make him angry. It was terrifying.
You are so right. Instincts tell me to be nice off the bat because I was raised that way and am scared of escalating a situation. I've been harassed so many times I've lost count and when I ignored them is when I got attacked so being nice has helped me somewhat to get out of situations. Decades ago a former police officer made a video about safety for women. He advised being very bold and loud and even rude to get people away from you. Back in my clubbing days I would regularly encounter clingy, drunk, or even aggressive dudes. One even grabbed my wrist (a total stranger) and said "don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you". Another time I was walking to my car and I heard a guy who was walking behind me say to his 2 friends, "I don't want anything to do with this" A cold chill shot up my spine and I was instantly sick to my stomach. I got out my taser and warned them, but that just made them more aggressive bc all drunk men think they can handle being tazed. Then I pulled out my pepper spray and they backed off. I guess ending their evening with a snot filled cry was scary enough for them, and, of couse, being pepper sprayed. Ladies, be safe, keep an eye on your drinks, and keep the pepper spray in your hand as you walk to your car!
This is why in my country girls tend to have couple of guy friends they go out with to watch their back, and we usually make friends as children and remain friends for life, so any girl growing up among guys ends up being "little sister" of the group who look out for her. My sister grew up around my friends, so everyone treated her like their own sis, and I was always 100% sure she's safe with them. Alto to be fair, she rarely ever visited nightclubs, because it's general knowledge it's hotspot for weird and drunk people, so you know, why poke a bear if you don't have to.

This happened to me in Vegas on a work trip. I was trying to go up to my room and this guy was following me around and when I got to the elevators I was scared to go up because I didn’t want to risk him forcing his way into my room. I told him my husband was with me and waiting for me in the room, but he kept saying “no, I’m pretty sure you’re alone”.I was telling him to leave me alone, luckily an older gentleman that was with his wife overheard and told him to leave me alone and waited for me to take the elevator up and made sure he didn’t go into it with me. I was scared! Thankfully every time that something like that has happened to me there’s always been someone there to help me out.

This! I was a bouncer for 20 years. Anytime a girl told me she was scared or uncomfortable for ANY reason I would immediately grab backup and escort the girl safely to her car. If she didn’t have one wed get her a cab home. I took situations like this very seriously. I tried to protect the girls who came to my bar the way Id want my sisters or my daughter protected in that same situation.

I worked at a bar and grill and even though we don't have bouncers or security we do have a part of our training to help people in these exact situations. If a woman told any member of staff of being harassed by a creep we, as a team would work to distract him or keep him away from you long enough to get away safely.
