I know you previously worked in retail so you know what it’s like but ::: You’re a paying customer so just ask them to check the copy’s they have in stock to see if there is a promotional disc that comes with the case. It’s only going to take them an extra 2 mins to check and it’s not like they are going to refuse .. I always asked to see the quality of the disc before I buy. If they have more than one copy in stock, why not try to get the best quality disc possible It will take them an extra 1 or 2 mins to check and it will save you time in the long run if the game turns out to be faulty then you have to waste your time to return it also if your planning on playing the game that night and the disc is unreadable that would be so annoying: when you could have just checked it in the store and swapped it which takes 1min I’ve checked discs before and refused 2 maybe 3 before I’ve found one I’m happy with.

You not asking for the correct disc type to be placed into the corresponding case (i.e. promo disc with promo case) is mindboggling to me...if you have some inside knowledge that at some point in the future, prices of promotional copies are going to fly through the roof and you're wanting your collection to eventually grow in value (who doesn't), you're only doing yourself a massive injustice. Your copies won't increase in value if they're not deemed "complete" and they can't be if they're supposed to have a specific type of disc inside. It's daft on your part and it's baseline incompetence from the staff, because some poor schmuck is going to get lumped with a horrible promo copy disc in their normal game case!
What! CEX puts the wrong disc in the wrong case, shock !! [**me walking out of CEX Durham only last week after purchasing metal slug 3 for the Xbox, only to find when I get back to the car was some sort of Skateboarding game**] and not the first time, this happens a lot throughout the 3 cex stores I use.
@@Venison_0904 Yeah, when I took it back I asked when they sold the Skateboarding game, she said in May! so someone got the box with Metal Slug 3 in and couldn't be bothered to return it or they realised the game was worth more than the one they bought, even without the box.
I have noticed CEX have become super strict on what games they will take and the disc need to be near perfect for my local branch to take them also found the same when sending stuff in via the website.
He was doing those same promo copies earlier in the day for a fiver I picked up the promo copy of spiderman shattered dimensions for £5 and sold it 2 weeks later for £50 on vinted 😅

If I were you and they gave you a non promo disc instead of the promo disc, I would just say to them at the till, isn't this supposed to have the promo disc instead? They'll probably just quickly go over it again and if there isn't one fair play, but I guarantee you that if you just ask that little question when looking at the disc you'll find more promo discs. I wouldn't say it's being a dick I think its just some of the staff not noticing or even caring like you said, but they should care.

@@MrSkullMerchant It's not weird. As I say it's subjective. I think the issue with alot of remakes is that they can actually lose alot of colour vibrancy. The whole picture while it may have some extra clarity it can easily appear more washed out than the original. I wonder how much it matters what TV)Display you play them on. Maybe on the right TV some of them might look more visually impactful.

I have one promo disc, though it's for the Xbox One, but the disc does state promo copy, and as you've just purchased Injustice which kinda suggests that is the standard for promo games, so technically you are collecting cases only ?
CEX don't buy promotional copies in as an item distinct from the normal version, nor do they sell them as such. The game is the game is the game, collectors edition versions notwithstanding. Don't be frustrated with the staff, they're doing what they're employed to do in the way they're told to do it. Be frustrated with the company's lack of distinction between normal and promotional copies. Right now you're basically getting frustrated with not being able to buy something they're technically not selling. Any promotional cases you find are a happy coincidence, and a bonus if you manage to get a promotional disc with it. But they don't sell, nor claim to sell, promotional copies distinct from normal copies.

Gotta ask a question Do you have a JFJ Easy Pro Universal CD/DVD Disc Repair Machine Right now they are under £300 I have 1, I swear it's worth it as I used to collect dvds, CDs and games but as I want to leave the UK, I'm downsizing and only keeping that which I won't be able to get digitally I had to get loads of polishing solution But trying to find a machine in the future might be difficult so best have 1 of your own
They won't buy incorrect cases and cex use printed copy s on switch games because people rob the cases that are expensive I bought a game cartridge no box and I stole the empty box on shelf And I take the map out of Skyrim and oblivion to get the poster for my wall but they are collectable items
They look ugly really like the grey PlayStation classics . Metal tin cases and card board sleeves ruin the OCD on the shelf. Like Xbox goes from big cases to small cases to then all bland grey . PS3 4 5 all same size and different slightly.

Yes but the rarity of these copies make them potentially more valuable, regardless of how unsightly they are to look at. Like how no mercy on n64 is worth more if you have the copy with the defective memory
