The BEST And WORST Parts Of Every Grand Theft Auto Game

- Ladies and gentlemen, Grand Theft auto. One of the most popular and influential game franchises of all time… has had it's ups and downs. Much like most things, you have to take the good with the bad too enjoy the things you like. But in the issue of looking at both ends of the spectrum what are the best and worst parts of every GTA game? Well that's what I'm here to take a look at.
#gta #grandtheftauto #gtamissions
My biggest problem with 4 is the realization that you can literally do nothing with your money. There arent any businesses or assets you can buy. Its only there for weapons, paint and spray and 5 dollar food. And i dont even use two of these.
Aside from the hospitals bills i never realy use my money in GTA 4
Yeah but I'd like to think that's by design, because storywise, what would Niko spend that money on? He doesn't want anything so he has no real use for the money.
Gameplay wise yeah it sucks that the money is useless
its focused on the story just like red dead redemption 2. once you finished all the side quests and main mission there is nothing to do but to restart the game.
@@TheRastafarianStuffdude RDR2 has an entire world of activities where you can spend your money on, hunting and stuff, I am not sure if it's a good example
@@skyl9385 fair enough, but its also true that after the prologue if you already completed all collectibles and side activities there is nothing left worth doing, it really feels like the far west at 98%
"The worst thing about GTA 3 is the brittleness of the cars."
Saint Mark's District after Sayonara Salvatore: *Rubbing hands* "Good. Goooood."
God! i hate those mafia goons with shotguns and Army on 6 wanted level with fast firing M16s
indeed
You read my mind 😂
Great comment lol
My worst thing about san andreas had always been the gang territories. So boring. And the way they're introduced in the first chapter makes them so worthless cause there's no point in having them early, its just bait to waste your time and then undo all that progress.
The worst part of that are the territories that are super narrow where the enemies won't spawn so you have to kite enemies into it and take them out once they cross the boundary and not sooner.
Money and ammo.
Damn I loved those. Used them as opportunities to level every weapon class
Just use mini gun that spawns at terenos cabin after vertical bird😂(the mission u steal the hydra” also for the small gang territories, always do those first before moving on to bigs one, you could knock them out ina hour
I liked them, but I didn't like the bug or whatever it was that prevented me from completing them all. Eventually the other gangs stopped spawning in their own territories and I couldn't initiate them anymore.
For me the best thing about Gta 3 is the unique atmosphere,it feels dystopian and hopeless even if the game has an more fast action packed tone.
Yeah, I always loved the dichotomy between the glistening sheen of Shoreside Vale and Staunton, juxtaposed with the industrial grayscale slumzone that is Portland, and all the dirty corruption buried underneath, and sometimes in plain sight, across the entire city.
Yeah, it kinda gave you this sense of it being an alternate reality. Not a very different one, but just things are bleaker so all this violence just comes with this downfall of society.
The later games got a little too comedic with it for my taste, it's less of a crumbling world and more of this average same as us reality but the hyper violence is all played for laughs almost and everybody from the characters to the setting just laugh about it so they can fit in more Fox News and celebrity jokes
@@bluecanine3374 For me it feels like it was more of coincidence that it end up like this,GTA always had comedic moments and a satirical nature even on the more serious games, and even here is not much different
Hell,Just look at GTA 4
Also if I remember correctly GTA 3 is only GTA game where explosives can rip off limbs of npcs
@@bluecanine3374 GTA4 is pretty dystopian. It’s easily the closest to being like GTA3, even has a similar story structure. With 4 though, there is sometimes a sense of hope, but it usually turns into despair real quick
Lung capacity requirement indeed sucks balls
It make me can't continue storyline mission in san andreas once
I think the Car School is worse
@@peony5578car school is mental, but was it required or optional? I found flight school way easier than driving school, but I’m a flight sim nerd
@@Masonicon”it make me cant” 💀
@@votekyle3000it's optional and by completing it you unlock side missions with Caesar
in GTA IV the 200 pigeons are nightmare, first at all 200 is too much and you can lose track, also you get nothing after 200 pigeons, even no reward after 100% completion, what a freaking waste of time
I used a guide for the pigeons and even then I ended up missing a single pigeon that prevented me from getting 100% in the game and I was so mad that day I could’ve ended up being classified as insane and been sent to some asylum lol. I do not wish the pain that I felt on that day on anyone
@@skateplays8880 indeed, i wish the game had the feature from GTA VCS where it display the collected one on map
@@skateplays8880SAME. 3 years ago, I did absolutely everything to get 100%, but because I missed a pigeon, I was stuck at like 99.8% completion. There's literally no way of knowing which ones you have and haven't done and so I eventually just threw in the towel. Beautiful game, but 100% is an absolute nightmare solely because of the pigeons.
Both tgem and all zge collectibles from SA: ones need spray can, otgers need swimming, third ones require camera while horseshoes are fine. But damn, too much even for a big maps.
And GTA V is even worse. You have to find 50 pieces and 50 spaceship parts that are scattered across the whole map
My personal least favourite part of GTA 3 is easily the lack of a world map.
EDIT: To address some of the things here I play the game on the original PS2 release. Yes I do have the map that came with the game but I also have a cat who would love to jump all over it and the map is kinda bulky. If I played the game more often than once every 8-10 years I imagine I'd probably have it memorized. Not having the map available in game is just my least favourite part.
This was fixed in both the mobile and the definitive edition
@@mr.andrew7820 Two editions I have no interest in playing.
@@tinkerer3399 Definitive Edition is better now
That’s because the original game had a map included which is what they intended you to use. For me, I’ve played the game so much that I know the city like the back of my hand. If you’re trying to play it now pull up the map on your phone or computer or something.
@@KegOfMeat That seems dishonest. The reason the game didn't have an in game map most definitely was not because they included a physical map, it was because the genre was in its infancy and including an in game map wasn't standard yet. I have the original release, I have the original map, I followed all the original dev interviews. All I said was that the lack of an in game map was my least favourite part of 3.
EDIT: Sorry I should have said misleading, not dishonest.
The worst thing about LCS is that the main antagonist had a good plan and perfectly executed it but was underutilized.
He also practically never appears so by the time he shows up as the final boss, I’d completely forgotten about him as he only appeared once in a single Portland mission before so I was thinking “the hell is this guy?”
Besides that, my other three least favourite things are no swimming & no empire system both unlike the next game, boats practically never appear and certainly not outside missions unlike GTA 3 and you can’t fly aircraft anymore until VCS (possibly due to 9/11 concerns?)
Vinnie shouldn't be killed that early really
@@lionocyborg6030Lcs didn't have helicopters because most of the buildings weren't finished due to them having missing textures
@@Milty2001 Was that one reason why the dodo was clipped in GTA 3 too? I think I remember something like that. Didn't stop people flying it anyway in that game. I think in LCS it's possible to glitch hijack a police helicopter (I vaguely recall one of the 2 wikis said so) but I've never seen it done unlike the dodo.
@@lionocyborg6030 yeah in lcs there were ways you can steal them during certain missions, as for the dodo in gta 3 I remember rockstar stated that the dodo clipping through buildings was a glitch I think it was supposed to fly around the map instead of flying through it, they also said the dodo wasn't meant to be flown they just thought it would be funny to see players try to fly it.
My fav part of GTA: SA was how customizable it was. From CJ's look to his body size to the different fighting styles he learn. Least fav was Toreno's training schools and Zero's missions.
I HATE Zero's missions!
Agreed! I struggled so hard on these!
i never really struggled on zeros mission hell this is probably an unpopular opinion but i hated his last mission more cause it took so long than supply lines 😂
If you were on Console Zero sucked, PC Zero was ez
I liked Zero’s last mission, but that was it.
@@ShiroyashaVince Rockstar fixed Zero’s missions afterwards. That means that only people that got the v1.00 PS2 San Andreas release have been plagued with the insane difficulty in Supply Lines. Speaking from experience, since I finished both versions, you can easily tell if you have v1.00 (only available on PS2) or another version.
The fun thing about the hunger meter in San Andreas is you can negate it completely by just saving the game. If you're on PC, you're probably doing that often enough anyway due to any number of random crashes that might occur, so it's relatively a non issue.
Fuck Sweet, though.
In all of my hours playing GTA SA I don't think I've even once lost HP because of hunger
I think the reason you stated is why 😋
I don't tend to play for long enough for the hunger meter to even show up 🤣
@@averagegamer6912same. My longest was 8 hours prolly. I only play for 2 to 3 hours. And still took me around to months to get to the final mission
@@luci4463 Let's be honest, it's actually a reminder to touch grass 😂
@@averagegamer6912 what y'all trynna say brother
The frame rate on the GTA IV section... jesus, I don't remember the frame rate being THAT bad on the Xbox 360/PS3 back in the day.
Rose tinted glasses are hell of a thing, brother.
I thought it was running pretty good on XBOX, it's on PS3 where it was really shitty, since devs couldn't utilise it's structure properly. RDR 1 was really bad too in that regard on PS3, they only solved the issue in GTA V.
I remember. It dropped quite often to somewhat 20-23 FPS on PS3.
it is also very common to this day to have stutters and a bit of a poor performance in GTA 4 Complete Edition on the PC without the help of mods such as DXVK
Ps3 is way worse than xbox 360 tbh, on 360 my fps only dropped on very taxing occasions, while ps3 just lags throughout the whole game
I’m a GTA Vice City fan the most. I love the soundtrack, the ‘80s, the dialogue and mechanics. Ricardo Diaz had the funniest scenes and lines. What I didn’t like, the inability to swim, some of the missions such as Checkpoint Charlie, and Dildo Dodo, Vic being killed, and Lance being such an incompetent jerk as well as a traitor.
I love the ‘80s, and it was fun to play a game based in ‘80s Miami.
Play vice city stories it's better tbh
The game is better then gta SA
GTA III
Best: Higher monetary rewards compared to later games.
Worst: Cant f***in bail out of a moving vehicle , health doesn’t replenish after saving & too many hostile gangs.
GTA VC
Best: If you dress up as a cop, you can venture into restricted areas like the interiors of VCPD HQ & the Military Base north of the airport.
Worst: It’s a shame that Tommy, even after being the undisputed kingpin of the VC underworld, dies immediately after getting into contact with water.
Demolition Man mission.
GTA SA
Best: Three different cities + the countryside & desert in one single game, the ability to swim, fly airplanes, customising CJ’s appearance.
Worst: Some really difficult missions (T-Bone Mendez, Wrong Side of the Tracks)
GTA LCS
Best: The ability to sprint with heavy weapons (AK 47, Rocket Launcher, Minigun etc.)
Worst: Not including the ability to swim after the release of the epic game GTA SA the previous year.
GTA IV
Best: The Dark, gripping Storyline, two drastically different endings. The ability to hang out, make phone calls. Liberty City resembling more like NY. Much better than 3D Universe’s LC.
Worst: Certain cars drive really terrible. And the less said about the bikes, the better.
TLAD
Best: An expansion of San Andreas’s feature running a gang. Story intertwining with GTA IV in certain missions where Johnny meets Niko.
Bikes in this game have better handling than GTA IV.
Worst: Very short storyline, having only 22 story missions.
TBoGT
Best: A lot of features added, including reintroduction of parachutes since SA.
LC more glamorous & colourful than IV & TLAD. Story interwoven with IV & TLAD’s storyline.
Worst: Sexy Time mission.
GTA V
Best: The giant world of Los Santos & the San Andreas Countryside & Desert, the ability to play as 3 different characters, cool graphics that resemble a lot like real life, 3 drastically different endings. You can spend countless hours having fun throughout the world of this game.
Worst: Storyline not as great as the previous games (it’s good but not detailed like GTA IV & EFLC), lack of San Fierro & Las Venturas. Can’t make characters fat, skinny or muscular like CJ from SA.
Wrong Side of the Tracks was mostly hard when we were kids, but if you replay the game as a teen/adult, it's actually very easy, as you have enough of a brain to recognize Smoke just doesn't have the angle to shoot when you are sticking too close to the train.
It requires like five braincells, and kids have like four at best.
Good list overall though.
The best thing in the Definitive Trilogy is that GTA III now has a fullscreen map with pay n sprays and ammunations marked but that was a thing they carried over from the 10th anniversary mobile port which also had it and which the definitive edition was based off
In defense of Learn to Fly, if you get gud in the flying enough, you eventually unlock a free Hunter spawn at your airfield sans cheats, so if you're going lighter on the cheats, you can earn your ticket to going on brutal rampages up and down the strip of Las Venturas. I've had tons of fun blowing up cars up and down the strip once I got through all of that with good enough marks. Also, I've opted to finding the pearls via a map I've printed off for Lung Capacity.
Yeah that free Hunter always feels satisfying unlocking when you gold every flight lessons. It also helps and makes vigilante 10x easier
It sure does. Pretty sure the game's a big buggy and doesn't recognize when you're shooting cars with the turrets as 'crimes', so as long as you don't use the missile launchers to blow them up, you're in the clear and can go very far in Vigilante and make a lot of money. Not sure if that changed in the Definitive Edition.
I think anyone on foot counts as a crime for the gun turrets, but not cars, so if you blow up their cars before they can get out, you can keep going with little to no wanted level.
@@SilverJ17 No from what i remember the gun turret also auto aims at cars
Afyer that mission I never wanted to enter any aircraft ever again in this game, so I don't even remember unlocking the helicopter.
Can't say the same. Flying the Hunter up and down the strip blowing everything up in sight is some of the best fun in San Andreas. At one point, I got down being able to bail when shot enough times by the Hydras to continue my rampages on foot until Wasted. I could often manage minimal fall damage, whilst whipping out my machine gun to keep the rampage going.
Honestly, I'd say that the only good things about the GTA Definitive Edition are the addition of a weapon wheel and checkpoints during the missions. The addition of these made replaying the older games a little less tedious.
Sad thing is the checkpoint really only was implemented for SA in terms of restarting in the middle of a mission. 3 and VC puts you at the start every time and the only advantage is not having to buy back all your weapons.
Checkpoints aren't good
@@Codewordthecerealkiller0that's subjective, I'd say it's good, hard missions are still hard, you will still die, it's just less frustrating because you are cutting the middlemen of getting your weapons back and getting back to the mission.
Best thing about GTA Online: Being able to sell product from your businesses in am Invite-Only lobby. You won't get any bonus, but your stuff won't get destroyed either.
Worst thing about GTA Online: The heists that force you to play with others. Friends aren't any problem, it's the randoms who do stupid things causing the setups and heist finale to fail repeatedly. Also the ones who only do the mandatory prep on the Diamond Casino Heist but not the optional which would make it easier
One good tip for lung capacity - after finishing Photo Opportunity swim back to San Fierro and make sure you swim underwater
Bruh, I remember putting this game down in 2005 and coming back FOUR YEARS LATER because the Flight school was that damn hard and annoying lol
11yr old me was in shambles in that plane lmao
26 year old me still hasn't gotten past the flight mission shit
@@egarmorales2036Have you tried doing them in first person mode? Made some of the missions easy, that are borderline impossible in third person.
I’d say the worst things about Vice City are the lack of swimming unlike VCS, the awkward & annoying first person perspective on big machine guns & GTA 1 aiming for miniguns, the rather weak sauce betrayal of Tommy to Sonny, my man Victor Vance dying in the intro and the boring & fake difficult as fuck sunshine autos fetch quests you have to do to get the asset. I’ll take making some coffee and tea while the nudeless strip club scene plays over scouring the map for very specific vehicles that almost never spawn when I need them & I can never remember what the less interesting ones look like or are called any day.
Also aircraft handle like shit compared to Just Cause 1 but that’s a series wide thing as I know it from VCS.
You can make tommy swim by mod bruh
@@Linogiven-O Tried that. Handles like shit. If it’s been updated since then or there’s new ones I’ve not seen. Not played GTA in a couple of years,
@@lionocyborg6030 Yeah, underneath the sea, it is empty and developers didn't made them for swimming, but you can ride car in water so inability to swim is not major problem. Victor vance was the strongest protagonist character ever, He was stronger than claude and CJ. He shouldn't have to die, But why he didn't respawn at hospital after being killed by ninjas🤣
@@Linogiven-O Woukd have been cool to see Dorian’s voiced Vic show up later in bandages & body armour, chew out Lance for the coke keys that got them into that mess & help Tommy clear up. He’d probably also find a way to stop Lance’s betrayal and find a way to avoid the shootout with Sonny happening. Maybe he’d even be sent by Tommy to San Andreas on vacation or where ever & fall in with both CJ & Claude.
@@lionocyborg6030 We think like that, but rockstar didn't. If it were, everything would be 2x. Imagine lance killed by tommy and victor, like Ricardo Diaz killed by tommy and lance in the scene.
Agree with the GTA 5 story, it felt like as soon as we were getting started with 1 thing, it randomly switched to another not to return until half the game, there was no clear direction of the story, it felt like it was just randomly written and jumbled together.
Facts they should’ve had the characters set up better. They also sold Franklins story terribly as we thought we were getting San Andreas again but we barely did any gang stuff. Overall it was just too much.
My worst thing about san andreas was that one mission with the rc plane given by zero. An absolute nightmare.
Yeah, at least it wasn't necessary for the main plot
I literally just started playing the GTA series again and then you drop this video.
Creeping me out dude.
I remember watching you before the twisted metal videos got popular and now you're nearly at 100k. Well deserved man
Same here
I watched him during the tgx times. still miss the skits lol
The Twisted Metal vids brought me here, but just about everything he puts out is top quality so hell yeah
My favorite part of gta iv is that intro
Riding into a gloomy city on a gloomy boat with gloomy yet hopeful music, and then getting jump-scared my the juxtaposition of Roman
The gang territory mechanic in san andreas was alright during the beginning but in the finale it was tedious, during the mission beat down on b dub, he tells cj and sweet that big smoke's lieutenants know where he's hiding, so you'd assume they would go around los santos and interrogate these lieutenants about big smoke's whereabouts, but nope instead we gotta take over 30% of the gang territories.
it actually makes sense. his lieutenants are controlling hoods, so you must take over hoods to gain respect from those hoods, and that is when they tell you where smoke is at. it makes sense. the mission from the first few seconds of this video makes no sense whatsoever. most of the time the npcs dont even get out of the vehicle and your mission is failed.
By far the worst part about V is online. It’s easily the worst experience in gaming history
Another great video ! I’m a big Vice City fan, and i definitely agree on both the soundtrack and Pole Position club points, i’d like to add to the positives the voice acting, especially of Ricardo Diaz, every cutscene with him is hilarious lmao. The map is really nice too, areas like Ocean Beach, Little Haiti and Starfish Island all feel unique and distinct, although i feel like Downtown is a bit repetitive. For the negatives i really have a gripe with the no swimming mechanic, because to me it goes against the games’s theme and atmosphere, and it doesn’t compliment gameplay either, it’s just lame. A minor nitpick for me is the loading screens between islands, to me it’s just interrupt the flow of the action
Another one,the game is too easy sometimes, specially in the Pc version
for me the worst part is the mission Death Row, it takes way too long to complete and it's way too easy to die and you get no money for finishing it.
Ricardo Diaz had the funniest lines and scenes. I met his voice actor, Luis Guzman. Really awesome guy.
The game is amazing and even better than GTA VC
6:21 Oh, and a visit to St. Marks after Sayonara Salvatore really showcases the brittleness of the vehicles when the Mafia bust out the shotguns.
My biggest problem with IV is it’s repetitive mission design, I feel like every single mission is drive here, follow target and take out target, it’s so painfully boring
Thats what I like about it bc those are my favorite missions.
Disagree, there was always a story behind killing that person! It was much fun imo
I will always have a soft spot for Vice City Stories. Always has been, and the way things are going, always will be me favorite GTA.
Gta vice city stories is actually my first gta ive EVER played and it forever will be my one of the best gta ever.
I think the only thing that can be said that are the "best" about the Defective Editions of the GTA 3 Trilogy is, well, the same best parts from their superior contemporaries, plus having checkpoints. Its "worst" parts are the same, plus, well, how badly the HD ports were handled.
The best thing about DE is that its release led to the source code of GTA 3, VC and SA being leaked after 20 years
For me:
GTA 3- Best is that it’s the game that started the 3D GTA games.
Worst is that it’s so primitive compared to all the other GTA games, which means it hasn’t aged that well.
Vice City- Best is the businesses. It makes getting money so much more important and it also makes you able to, in a way, take over Vice City.
Worst is that you’re not able to swim.
San Andreas- Best is that there is just so much to do. The developers really went all out when making this game.
Worst is that sometimes, the developers were just too ambitious. Some of the stuff they added were great ideas, but just become kind of frustrating because the technique just wasn’t there in 2004 to really make these things work properly.
GTA 4- Best is the new engine.
Worst is the game is just boring. The missions are very repetitive and there isn’t much fun to be had.
TLAD- Best is that they made riding a bike fun, for the first time in the GTA games.
Worst is that they didn’t really add much else.
TBOGT- Best is that it’s way more fun than GTA 4, the missions aren’t as repetitive and feel more like how they were in previous GTA games.
Worst is that it’s a bit too short. I personally like it more than regular GTA 4, but you can tell it’s just DLC.
GTA 5- Best is that it’s the first time, to me, in a GTA game where the developers knew exactly what they were capable of. The game is impressive and I never felt like they implemented something that they weren’t capable of.
Worst is most of the side activities are a bit boring.
GTA Online- Best is you can play as your character. I love it when games allow you to make your character and give you the freedom to do whatever you want.
Worst is that it’s a bit boring early on in the game, when you don’t have much money. If I didn’t have friends to play the game with early on, I definitely wouldn’t still be playing the game now.
Definitive Edition- Best is it added checkpoints.
Worst is that there are new glitches and mistakes that weren’t in the originals. San Andreas on the definitive edition is worse than it was back in 2004.
Gta 5 was super lacking in fun
I compeletly agree but in gta vc swimming is not esssential and if you wanna swim you can simply use mods😊
My least favourite part about San Andreas is the entirety of San Fierro because imo it vastly outstays its welcome. There are just too many side missions in this place and none of them are very interesting
Zero's missions
Driving School
3 import/export lists
Valet
Wang Cars
Courier
Gym moves
2 stadium missions
Snapshots
Also maybe it's me but I find San Fierro to be the map I have the hardest time to figure out
the hunger mechanic wasn't that bad, CJ can eat 11 meals in one visit to any fast food place, eat anymore and CJ Vomits. just eat 11 salad meals and CJ should be good for a whole in game week (about 3 IRL hours)
no the absolute worst part of San Andreas is something required for 100% and it's the BMX races down Mount Chiliad. from my experience it sucks rotten ass, I got lucky during my last run where D.B. Cooper crashed into my opponents killing them during the last race.
I think the worst part about LCS is that its story feels significantly weaker compared to the other games in the franchise.
Like Toni doesn’t even have a main antagonist that wants to make his life a living hell the entire game, all he has is Vinnie and he dies while still on the FIRST ISLAND.
It’s a shame too, imagine if Vinnie became Torini’s Right Hand after he gets jealous that Toni became Salvatore’s favorite, that way both Salvatore AND Toni could have antagonists at the end of the game to kill
I'm trying to complete GTA 4 for the first time this year and I totally agree about the lengrh.
I'm at the point where I'm working with the pegorinos and I'm so tired that I searched up how many missions are left till the end.
At this point I'm only playing because I'm close to the end
Edit: finally beat it. Thank Rockstar for taxis & the skip function. I'm glad I went for the revenge ending.
I don't have any motivation to start the DLCs anytime soon
honestly I disagree with TBC on this front, I never got bored any of the times I played through GTA IV, though to be fair it was my very first GTA game so that probably has something to do with it. Also think he's dead fucking wrong about GTA V's story, I loved how all over the place it was, it made the world feel like it was bigger then just the protagonists.
Yeah... GTA IV takes a huge nose dive in quality after the bank of liberty heist and Ray Boccino storyline. The McReary storyline becomes a drag once they introduce Gerald & Derrick, Phil Bell is mostly a filler character, Pegerino is for the most part a pretty uninteresting Italian mafia boss antagonist that took away any chances of Ray Bulgarin (the more interesting character) having a more significant role in the base game and both endings of the game are pretty underwhelming (SPOILERS below). The only real saving grace with GTA IV's fourth act is the Gracie kidnapping storyline and confronting Darko Brevic. The repetitive and barebones missions and the fourth act of the game are my two big main issues with GTA IV and the reason why I consider GTA IV to be my least favorite mainline GTA.
Revenge (the "good" ending) makes sense for Niko's character but having Pegerino as the final boss and Niko's motivational drive being Kate (a character most people didn't care about) dying felt anticlimactic. Deal (The bad ending) is overall much more interesting as they kill off Roman, a character you care much more about and having Dimitri as the final boss felt much more fitting. Only problem is, Niko making a deal with Dimtri. the man who betrayed him, kidnapped his cousin and burned Roman's apartment and business down doesn't make much sense for his character, this leads to both endings feeling anticlimactic and underwhelming as a result. And it doesn't help that the final mission of the game is another shitty tailing mission.
@@jadedheartsz I'd probs have a different opinion if I had actually gone start-to-finish when I first got the game back in '09
Yeah. The problem is not that is long, is that the missions are sooo repetitive so u get tired. That's something it dont happen in the ballad of gay tony because almost all the misions are unique. Like San andreas is basically as long as GTA 4 but san andreas with san andreas u never feel like it was too long because missions were actually different gameplay wise.
@jacksonteller3973 I get the point about GTA 5 showing how big the world is, but it is hard to really care about said world due to how thin it is spread. And GTA has had a lot of really good and threatening villains so for the ones in GTA 5 to be so bland and cookie cutter is a sin imo. It makes it so hard to get invested in anything. You can make a huge, interesting world without having to sacrifice quality elements such as characters and focus. It feels like you are making an excuse for the game.
If you had said 100K instead of 100 thousand it woulda been bars ngl
Hey everybody, before we start today
I just wanted to say
We're a stone throw's away

Lol
For me the worst thing about San Andreas was also the "remaster", there's just so much wrong with it. I remember in one of the first cutscenes Tenpenny and Pulaski drive straight through a passing train lol
Please try the Yakuza series, you'll love it, 8/10 gameplay and very well written
1:55 The way you said "Da Shootaz" got me on the floor rolling
27:19..Lol That slideshow tho.. .Loved the Video, The nostalgia hit, especially with that liberty city theme
I’m happy that I’m not the only person who didn’t like GTA 5’s story…
It’s awful lol
@@kennypowers1945 I’m not going to lie, I don’t care for GTA 5’s story, and don’t care for almost everyone who isn’t the three protagonists…
Tbf yhe
I agree
@@kennypowers1945 GTA 4 it's awful
My most hated part of LCS was the hidden packages. Some of them were impossible to get to. It defeats the purpose in my opinion, they're supposed to be Hidden packages, not stunt jumps.
Plus i hate how you can't get them all without beating certain missions. You can't get 100 before the final mission. To me, the fun of finding the packages is getting good weapons for early parts of the game. What's the fun in getting them all AFTER beating all the difficult story missions?
About GTA IV i would say, for the first playthrough back in those times the absolute best thing was the RAGE engine, Euphoria for ragdoll physics, and cars' handling and weight. All of that can be summarised as gameplay, i suppose. It was truly something incredible after GTA SA physics to see something this grounded and realistic... in a GTA game!
But, what essentially has passed the test of time - it's the main protagonist and his story line, as you chose as well. The more you play it the more you love it, even when the gameplay is already out of date (i still like it though, it's different in a good way from GTA V for example).
Honestly never found an issue with the hunger system in San Andreas
Omg I actually got a notification for this channel. I swear I miss 75% of your releases
I like how you didn't say anything about the Defective Edition 😂
Now I feel vindicated on my struggle to finish GTA4. I've been playing it for the first time and despite not wanting any spoilers I've finally caved and watched this video lol.
I am so tired of the endless shootouts. I don't mind the realistic feel, but let me go in and blast 5 guys and that's it. When I'm mowing down 30 guys for the 6th time it really gets old. Love the feel, the atmosphere, the physics. But the missions are so repetitive.
I remember an early mission where I had to kill someone, and I chased him through a train station after killing his 2 guards. He J turned into the road, and I put a full clip into the windshield with the blood splatter. It felt real, badass and I still remember it. Those are the missions I want
Da shootaz joyride the real gta anthem
Nah, man, Vic is gold, one of my favorite characters, only behind CJ and Claude.
Yeah Vic is such an underrated character. His motivation and reasoning for doing all the things he does is honorable(even if the way he goes about it isn't)since he just wants to help his sick brother. He's clearly a flawed character, and TBP kind of overlooks the fact that vic says so himself at the end of the game in the final mission
Victor and tommy❤❤❤
The cars in GTA IV feel like bathtubs on wheels driving on a road covered in butter.
I really like liberty city as a setting, so my opinion on stories is that even though it was a missing a lot of features from san andreas, it’s easily the definitive way to experience liberty city. It’s significantly better than III, at least
The best part about the definitive edition games is that after you fail a mission, it gives you the option to retry at your last checkpoint.
Been playing GTA3 today and totally agree about the paper mache cars. The espresso-2-go mission requires you to ram into 9 espresso stands across all 3 islands while on a timer. That one was awful. You have to expect to go through like 3 cars at least, and every time one gets totaled, you better pray there is another fast car with good handling nearby.
my favorite part of GTA 5 has to be the Sandbox, it takes everything you could do in GTA 4 and adds in a bunch of things from SA, and amplifies them all
My favourite GTA games:
- Chinatown Wars
- 4 (with DLCs)
A man of culture, I see
Clearly you are very knowledgeable in GTA. Peak GTA is any game set in HD Liberty City. The 4 of them (yes, i consider TLAD and TBoGT as games) are all incredible and frankly GTA CTW makes IV even better and vice-versa. I wish we could have gotten something like that for GTA V's Los Santos but it's clear that either Rockstar never thought about it (CTW didn't sell all that good). But just imagine what could have been, on the Vita...
my favorite thing in vice city were the shops and the shopping mall. there were no loading screens when entering (except for the mall if i recall it correctly) and the general 80s vibe in those. i love the old-school mall style much more than the sterile one from today
Honestly I love the feeling like you're in the base for the mafia or the mob in Liberty City Stories theme song
My favorite part of each GTA series: [Which I have played]
*GTA 3* : Silent Protagonist. Environment and Difficulty
*GTA Vice City* : The sunrise, soundtrack, Fall resistance 69, and Environment
*GTA San Andreas* : Map, Customization [cars and players, etc], Environment, Planes, Storyline, Cheats, RPG mechanics, U can utilize the money you earn [In casinos or buying properties], Homies 4 life, mods, Myths and Legends...
*GTA 4* : Physics, Dark theme, Advantage friends provide, and DLC expansions cameos
*GTA TBoGT* : More Vibernt, fixed some stuff which GTA 4 lacked, online mode
*GTA 5* : Multiple Characters, Abilities, and Mods
What I hate.....
*GTA 3* : Literally everything is missing [after you ply all other GTA in the series you will know]
*GTA Vice City* : Smallest map in the series as the BEACH IS THE SIZE OF THE ENTIRE CITY and The damn WATER!!!!
*GTA San Andreas* : The gang war system at the end and before Green Sabre Mission, and Driving + Pilot School
*GTA 4* : Imagine u had all the goodness in San Andreas and those were taken away from you...
*GTA TBoGT* : Very Short :c
*GTA 5* : Storyline, Easy ASF, and THE MAP!!!! It is large but doesn't seem like compared to San Andreas
Despite being outdated, GTA III remains my favorite game.
You know what annoys me about this series? Firetrucks-- show up and put out the wreck. Ambulance-- shows up and picks up the injured.
Dead bodies? No cops to pick em up-- in fact, the cops LEAVE em there till they vanish. You have wrecks, you have garages, you have tow trucks-- tow trucks never pick up the wrecks, you rarely even see em on the road.
For me the best thing about GTA online is how fun the grind is on everything and the worst is the griffers and cheaters
Now I have a phobia of sticking pins under my toenails and kicking things. Just...ouch.
I will admit.. I love the Definitive Edition Trilogy. I loved those games so much when I was younger, so the fact that they look so much better than the original to me was enough to give up my money. 🤷
So what you are saying is you like looks over substance
@@marcuswellington5866 Yes
Bought it on switch ps4 and Xbox one x
Tbf the clunky mechanics and inability to swim in LCS kind of feels less out of place when you think of it as a prequel to gta 3.. it feels more like we've gone back to the old vibe of liberty city from SA so the old and dusty controls and physics kind of fit in
Plus that Liberty City ocean water looks fucking disgusting and beyond polluted -- getting even a tiny amount in your lungs would probably instantly give Toni terminal cancer or something lmao
San andreas had the best side content in the gta games to me
Exactly what I did for the Pole Position asset, I left the room ,made coffee and a sandwich ,and did some chores . At least you didn't have to hold down a button on the control pad.
Mission past
Respect+
THIS never gets old!
I love the music and is the best "Mission past" screen in the series
That Italian mobster theme song sounds like a sample from SOAD’s Soldier Side from the HYPNOTIZE album. Lol
Could not agree more with the san andreas cheats section. There are so many and there is such a good variety that the combos you can do are almost limitless. Especially before trophies were a thing so trophy hunters didnt have to worry about messing up their save. Loved san andreas
The drug mini-game in Chinatown Wars is fantastic, and it's essentially a slightly-more involved version of 'Drug Wars' from 1984. I love it for all the reasons you listed, it's simple but an insane amount of fun, and bar-none the best way to get a ton of cash in the game. It's a bummer they haven't really brought the mechanic back -- the closest is the ability to sell some drugs your character produces in their shops/fronts on the street in GTAO, and it took them a literal decade to add that feature to the game (it got added in early 2023.) If they don't bring back the business venture and drug stock market in GTA VI, where it would make a ton of thematic sense anyway, I will be a very disappointed goober.
Best thing about remastered is auto save after a mission. Not having to go to safe houses was a blessing!
31:09 thank you! This is a completionist’s worst nightmare. There’s lots of games I have passed up getting all of the achievements on just for thsi reason.
You *Can* Fly an Aircraft in Liberty City Stories
But like you correctly said you dont have *access* to Aircrafts in LCS
In the Mission where you have a Rooftop shootout with a Rival Mafia and the Triads you can steal a Helicopter
You can also Steal a Helicopter in the Mission where you kill a Journalist or a Star i dont remember exactly... just jump in before it Passes by and bam you have a Helicopter
And you can also Store it in a Garage! 👍
The 2nd best thing about San Andreas........the god damn multiplayer mod.
SAMP was one of THE best things ever modded into a videogame. It's so good that many future games' multiplayer pretty much just copied what SAMP did.
the worst thing about GTA 4 is the PC Port. it's so fucking unoptimized that I can't even play the game without it lagging or crashing almost all the time
try fusion fix
I play it on steam deck with no issues
“You may as well throw it on and go grab a cup of coffee.” Bro in my second replay of the game I literally made a cup of coffee, made some eggs (it was an all night challenge between me and my friends), and just peeped my head in to check progress to get Pole Position.
According to Andrew Hamilton there are plenty of nice guys in prison. He is, however, in Australia.
GTA 2 was the first gta I remember playing as a shorty good memories
Congratulations silver play button imminent you'll be at 100K in no time IMO one of the hardest parts of the Grand Theft Auto series was playing GTA Vice City and on PC in particular in the mission where you have to control the RC helicopter and blow up the construction site absolutely brutal I haven't played much of PC since the mid-2000s I've been a console gamer since but I remember in particular that level was incredibly brutal the controls were just awful to fly that RC helicopter in those tight quarters
bro how can you not mention gta iv's theme
I wish San Andreas had the Non-mission store robbing option like Vice City & GTA 5.
I've only really played through and beaten San Andreas and GTA V, so for my worst and best...
San Andreas: The best part was the overall scale and scope of how it was able to run on PS2 hardware.
Worst was the mandatory Flight School/Gang territory mini games that dragged out the latter end of the game.
For GTA V: The best part was Lamar Davis and the radio stations.
The worst is everything else, I genuinely hate that game with every fiber of my being and how it's essentially the only thing Rockstar and gaming revolves around when it comes to GTA.
GTA 5 and online robbed us of so many cool projects rockstar was working on, I will forever hate the game for that reason.
@@DickKickem87 Plus not to mention it's really just the definition of "Popular ≠ Good", it still baffles me anyone could enjoy that game
@@MaidofRage420 god ikr.. I was planning to beat the games story but I never did cause it's just not a very enjoyable game..
@@DickKickem87 Yeah, especially since the story is dull as dishwater, and the characters (barring Lamar Davis) are so insufferable, it makes the worst of characters from any Saints Row game look like Shakespearean thespians in comparison
(and I say this as someone who enjoys Saints Row over GTA I genuinely wanted nothing but negativity for the GTA 5 characters)
10:21 i never knew this is why i couldnt get past this mission, interesting
VCS also introduced some other QoL features. It marked collected items (such as red balloons and stunt jumps) on the map, so it was easier to see what you were missing. AFAIK no other GTA game has done this (I never played Chinatown Wars)
Love how there is nothing you can say good about the remastered trilogy :D
My worst and best (from the games I've played in full):
III:
Best: one of my favourite maps in GTA games idrk why but I also enjoy the variety in the different gangs and how they act and interact with you
Worst: after Sal is gone Portland is basically unusable cuz the Leones will destroy your car in 0.3 seconds if they see you coming by
Vice City:
best: so much to choose from but I'll go with aesthetics. It's genuinely such a pretty game. Soundtrack is up there of course
Worst: the twist ending. I actually love Lance and I loved his friendship with Tommy. It doesn't ruin the game for me but I go out of my way to not finish the game when I replay it lol
San Andreas:
Best: how big the game feels. There's plenty to do, a lot of customization options, so many cheats like you said, three very distinct cities (and collections of small country towns and other properties) it always feels fresh and no matter where you are on the map it's a distinct feeling
Worst: gang wars. Nothing more annoying than chilling in San Fierro for too long and getting the hood is under attack message. Supposedly the OG version ends the gang attacks when you win over all the territories but the buggy ass "remaster" still has one territory that permanently gets attacked so there's no escape
Liberty City Stories:
Best: same map as III but with some extras like a actual homes. I also think the story is pretty decent
Worst: like you said it took a lot of steps back in what you're able to do
Vice City Stories:
Best: brought back a lot of what you can do in GTA games that LCS took away, and again the aesthetics are fantastic
Worst: don't really care for the story, and the PSP version was sluggish
IV:
Best: I fucking love the story so much. It's an incredible map (I drive around a lot so this is important for me lol) but every character had depth and it was one of the first video games that made me cry
Worst: I do get tired of the how gloomy the visuals are. I get that that's the point since it's a dark story but it gets old for me
Ballad of Gay Tony:
Best: brought back a lot of the light-hearted dumbness that IV semi lacked with its serious story (this is not a knock on IV, I appreciate that the two can bounce off each other)
Worst: tbh can't think of much. It's one of my favourite GTA games
V:
Best: Brought back a decent amount of customization. Also leaned more towards goofiness than seriousness for the most part. I like that you can switch characters and I LOVED that the whole map was available from the start of the game
Worst: the story wasn't that great. Missions were good but the story itself was meh
Oh also damn I didn't know China Wars had that drug selling game. There was an old PC game I think called Drug Lord where you did that but it was just text based, it was fun as hell waaaay back.
Always dropping bangers!
I admittedly haven't played GTA Advanced, or tye mission Smackdown, but nothing will beat Zero's Supply lines in GTA SA.
Did this for the first time earlier today. Took me 5 infuriating tries and im usually pretty good at games. Almost did not made it to the rooftop at the end. What an awful mission
best part of 5 was the addition of mission checkpoints, bike sliding into a wall and having to redo an entire mission drove me insane while playing through gta 4

worst thing in vcs must be the high wire mission.
it took me 2 weeks to complete it, i eventually got a burnt out that i can only attempt to try the mission 2-3 times per day before getting tried of it.
you might scratch yourself to the wall while try to pickup the first container, missed by a few inch on the second container and it won't pick it up. and saving the dude is just pure agony, he turns corner non-stop and in just a few bump, your helicopter burnt up instantly.
I managed to complete the mission out of pure luck, maybe God feels sorry for me, but I will not touch that game for the rest of my life.
Having a dedicated Fart/Burp button will never not be the one and only time I could do so in a game, Well almost, Crash Tag Team Racing had one during the loading screen.
Interesting choice about LCS, i liked it
I 100% fully agree with you on the ranking system in tbogt
The only thing I don't like about San Andreas was driving for hours without getting a single driving skill upgrade. I think my game may be bugged. If I ever finish it I may well use a cheat to be able to do the 8 track race, which I love. Nothing wrong with diving underwater. It gives you an opportunity to notice all the underwater life they created.
V-Rock pretty much introduced me to hard rock and heavy metal when I first played Vice City and VCS and I never looked back! I hope there’ll be a hard rock and metal station in GTA VI 🙏🤘🤘
