    Remember guitar 'jackets' from the 1980's? They were covers for the guitar body so they wouldn't get scratched. Saw ads for them all the time in Guitar Player magazine years ago.

Naw, I love drums and I'm constantly watching drum videos so guilty as charged I guess. haha :D The only reason I don't play the drums is lack of ... drums, and they're just not an option in this apartment so a house is on the wish list. Guess what's next on the list ...

    The Crate Powerblock is a versatile life saver! The perfect backup in case you amp blows at a gig. I've also used it as a clean power for a modeler unit by bypassing the front preamp, which can also be used in stereo if you'd like. All you need are two small cabs. It's also perfect as a dedicated amp to drive a Talkbox. I bought mine years ago on clearance for 50 bucks👍

    I have Wedgies on several of my guitars- great product! I actually bought one initially because I have a Taylor that had fairly noticeable string ringing above the nut, and it was bothering me- I used to weave a piece of black fabric through the strings to mute them, but it was a tacky solution, so I looked for another way to fix the problem. The Wedgie worked perfectly, and of course I've got spare picks at hand also. I bought a few more for other guitars that had this issue.
    Best gadget i know of is the S.O.S Offset Spacer. It's an intonation solution that acts like a compensated nut, but without any modification to your guitar. It's a tiny strip of plastic that is "shelved" to compensate the string length at the nut- you just slide it under your strings, kind of like having a compensated zero fret. It works FANTASTICALLY well. If you have a guitar with intonation issues, try it out. I have some old acoustics that had absolutely terrible intonation- they sound amazing now. Seriously, it's such an incredible difference to hear all your chords in tune. I put one on a couple of electrics also. Best $20 I've ever spent for a guitar product.

    The best pick holder I got is like 4 big paper clips on my strap, you can do 3 picks per clip, sometimes 4 if you space the paper clip out right. Thin picks on one, medium lights on the other, and medium on the last one, cheap, easy, and doesn't come anywhere near your guitar or strings.

    I have a Crate CPB150. Cost £68, which is now worth around $7 (lol). The headphone socket emulates the speaker sound. I use it for recording, sounds great. And you can't help playing AC/DC. It just does that sound perfectly.

  • @treychilton

    I gave this a thumbs up simply for the vacuum cleaner cord reference. I also have had the planet wave string tool for several years and love it. I use their cords too because they have a built in kill button so you kill the sound at the cord and switch guitars without the popping noise. And finally when it comes to slides I like the Jet Slide because it allows you to continue using the finger for chords or single notes and then bring the slide in when you want it. It comes in glass, brass and steel.

  • @chriscollins343

    Know this is older, but I LOVE some of these products too! For example, got a The Wedgie on a guitar I bought off someone, and could never figure out where to get more, all I knew it was a useful pick holder! And as a older guitar player who has blasted his ears out, both at concerts in my youth, and from my playing days, have been a fan of Fender filters for a longtime. Also use the D/a string winder tool, and have them faithfully in my gig cases. Will look into a couple others, but want to say Great Video!

    I use these tiny "Hotone" amp heads as backup at a gig. They are digital, only 5 watts, but incredibly loud. They come with volume, gain, and 3-band EQ. A headphone jack and effects loop in and out complete the professional image. I run mine through a 212 cab and get incredible sounds. Plus, the thing can damn-near fit in my pocket...so it doesn't take up a lot of room in the band van. I now have TWO of them. One is mostly clean while the other is really hot and dirty. I bought an A-B footswitch so I can move easily between them. Then I simply built a second pedalboard (headboard?) with the two heads and switch pedal and I'm ready to go. Amazing sound. "The Moose" - Vagabond

    That D'Addario string winder with cutter was my favorite thing in the world until the new version came out. The new version has a silver cutter instead of a black one.. and it has a lot of trouble cutting through E, B, and even G strings. It's such a bummer. I used to sell the crap out of them to my customers, but now I can't because I don't really "believe in them" anymore.
    Big fan of the Crate amp ever since my pops bought one 10 years ago. :)

    • @juliadmorris
      @juliadmorris 8 лет назад

      Yeah, I'm with you about the D'Addario 3 in one. We use them at our store when we do string changes so they get a lot of wear, and they don't cut through the thinner strings anymore. I used to be able to sell them to customers all the time, because they saw how easy it was so change strings with them, but now they lose their interest once I have to get out the wire cutter/pliers to cut their E and B strings. I've noticed with mine that if you change your strings often enough, the cutter gets pretty dull after a few months.

    I do like the clip-on tuners for when I am playing in quiet environments, however, I have had some problems with my Korg during live performance. I had to replace a broken string so my band mates startet a jam to bridge the gap. With all the vibrations going on around me the sensor was not able to correctly pick up my guitar so I could not get it in tune. I have since gone back to a tuner pedal for live gigs. So, be aware of that if you are thinking about using one of these on stage.

    Brian Johnston could do with the ear protection or he might just go deaf

    • @MrACangusyoungDC
      @MrACangusyoungDC 8 лет назад +2

      He uses in ear monitors that protects more. The monitor sound itself is still loud and distorted. The latest thing I think is anti-distortion devices that makes a great difference. rev33 I think it's called. maybe not the only one.

      @harrywilliamson33 8 лет назад +3

      Hope to see him in the front of band again the ear defenders we were issued in the army blocked out the sound of a fire fight normally we would be deaf but works great remember seeing AC-DC IN Belfast in 79 brill

      that is more egos at work and has little to do with loss of hearing im afraid,Brian has been in ac/dc for over 30 yrs and has raced cars for a very long time,if he was going to loose his hearing it would've happened already.i laughed when i heard this,hearing loss is not immediate its gradual.
      you are hearing a fabricated story with no basis in truth,im willing to bet the farm on this one.

    I got one of those winders for a spare, used it once and had to reset the screw. It's a design flaw if you use it on a 3/3 where you wind the opposite way

    I bought a cheap, but awesome sounding Cort acoustic which came with a chromatic Cort tuner. I have a Snark, and I was going to give the Cort to my son, until I gave it a spin!
    It's a pretty accurate tuner and has several options for drop tuning, violins, bass, and of course guitars.
    So ya, my son is now the proud owner of a SNARK tuner!!

    In the Netherlands there were some tests of ear filters and the best non-custom filters were from Alpine.
    When you go to a concert hall in the Netherlands you can get Thunderplugs for €2.00-€3.00 from some sort of chewing gumball machine.
    I have 3 sets or so, because I often forget my Alpines when I go to a concert.
