Watermelons are so expensive because of how they grow it too. In Korea, the ones that make it into the markets are "designer" watermelons. Watermelons that aren't perfect (i.e have imperfect stems or coloration) cannot be sold to the markets (and they end up being eaten on the field or sold to small local stores. there's nothing wrong with the taste, it's just "imperfect" to be sold at markets). And they're so gooood - there's barely a rind because its filled up all the way!
I remember when I was in Korea my relatives would give me grief about wanting to eat watermelon because its so expensive over there, but they were just kidding and always had some for me...it was awesome
We have those sideways moving carts in England and what really annoyed me when me when I moved to Canada is that your carts don't move sideways. It's so hard to control them! I thought everyone had sideways moving carts, too
@Kerorosmangagirl I live in North America and we have sideways moving carts as well. I've never seen a grocery store that doesn't have them in fact. Maybe he means just Canada. Or perhaps just the states I've lived in have had them (which is likely since I'm far from well traveled).
@kimchiseoul Exactly, i wanted to try a video like this, but I know some stores have signs with a camera and a slash through it. My guess was this was so the competitions could gather pricing information easily or maybe some customers would be bothered. It might be the case that the weiguks were getting away with something here by merit of being foreigners.
@wowrules6 i read this in a book so i'm not too sure, but you move to three devimal places to the left. so 13,900 would be around 13.90, 4,000 would be around 4.00 :3
@TheLegend1245 Take into consideration the size of Korea and how much land they'd need to raise some watermelons. Veggies and fruits in Korea can get very pricey since land is a premium EVERYWHERE.
omgg the sideways moving carts LOL. we definitely need those in north america. my god, i have to practically lift the darn cart to try to move it to the side T___T/
Oh dear, seems like things are more expensive than I thought.. 14000 won for a watermelon, if otherproducts have similar prices, I might need... I mean, I will have to reconsider my cost play for Korea D:
It's true, Canadian shopping carts go back and forth and can turn but they cant's go side to side.... unless there's some magical place in the country where it's possible!! :O
In the early videos it seems like recording is all Simon's idea and Martina just wants to get on with life, lol.
SIMON AND THE "EH" IN ALL THE OLD VIDEOS. Love it.
"Look at the size of those green onions"...."OK, that's enough"
"that's pretty steep, aye?" I LOLed so hard^^ keke so Canadian
Spanish subtitles now up, thanks again to @Tamialuz!
I'm from China, so I feel really nostalgic watching this video.
And they also have those shopping carts in Germany.
WOW....10 years ago. So Young, So Fresh. Fun look back!

$14 watermelon ?!????! That shit better have gold inside it !
We have those sideways moving carts in England and what really annoyed me when me when I moved to Canada is that your carts don't move sideways. It's so hard to control them! I thought everyone had sideways moving carts, too
We do need those carts!! Haha I hate having to shimmy the cart around and sometimes even lift it up just to move out of the way.. Ugh... Lol
in Denmark we have always had those sideways carts, or at least for as long as i can remember... :)
Shopping carts in England have always had wheels like that haha But we call them trolleys :P
@TheBowlerHatGuy Shaving foam/gels are expensive( 7$ a can), but otherwise you should have no problems finding what you need.
@Kerorosmangagirl I live in North America and we have sideways moving carts as well. I've never seen a grocery store that doesn't have them in fact.

woah those green onions r huge!!! O.O man they really need those in the US... where do those even come from?

YES! WE NEED THOSE CARTS! I hate it when you're blocking someone's way and you have to awkwardly hurry and do some parallel parking to the side -.-
The only place I have seen carts like that are at Ikea. We need more of those!
@TheLegend1245 Take into consideration the size of Korea and how much land they'd need to raise some watermelons. Veggies and fruits in Korea can get very pricey since land is a premium EVERYWHERE.

When I had a layover in Taipei, I spent most of my time in the airport playing with the carts >.
We have sideways moving carts in Sweden o_O We've had them for as long as I can remember and I'm 20 years old so that's a pretty long time xD
The carts we have them in stores in Cali :)
We have sideways moving carts in the UK. Or at least I thought we do...
trolley I think are more in the upper left side of America like new York or someting
In North America the cart wheels don't move at all because there's so much hair wrapped up in them :(
Australia is in Asia so I assuming majority of Asian countries has sideways moving carts ... so lucky ..... England we need some
wait, you don't have shopping trolleys like that in north america? WHAT? I live in the UK, and they've had it for as long as I've been here.
We have shopping carts in the US idk about Canada (where they are from)
We have shopping carts in the US but they don't roll sideways like she showed. They only go front and back.
CherryMama Kai Unless one of the wheels gets busted, then it barely goes straight.
I was wondering this too... Australia has them too, with all four rotating wheels. Sounds like a massive hassle to NOT be able to move so easily
You dont have sideways moving carts in North America? O.o
We need those sideways moving carts in North America!!
martina your shirt was so cute
Oh dear, seems like things are more expensive than I thought.. 14000 won for a watermelon, if otherproducts have similar prices, I might need... I mean, I will have to reconsider my cost play for Korea D:
it sucks even more that in North America when your cart is packed up with no space and you have to be like the incredible hulk just to move it.
You don't have sideways trolleys (or carts) in North America?
Whut. We have them ion Australia... o.o
We need those carts in North America cause I hate backing up or moving forward:/
This is the same video as part 1?
Do North American shopping carts really only go back and forth? That just blew my mind
No, they go side to side as well. Maybe it's a Canada thing?
It's true, Canadian shopping carts go back and forth and can turn but they cant's go side to side.... unless there's some magical place in the country where it's possible!! :O
Fruit is normally expensive in most Asian countries.
14 dollars for a watermelon?! crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzay
Where I'm from watermelon costs around 2-3 bucks..14$ is just cray
@Mrgreatestfreakout I agree with you completely! 완전 공감!!
Ikea has those types of carts!

Thats is steep. Watermelon at a pathmark and on a sale week is atleast $4
It's almost impossible to find regular sized green onions @_@
omg simon's canadian accent is so much more noticeable in the older videos x3 EH?!
How do you know how much something is like 13,900 won but how do u convert it?? i am soooo confused T_T
but can't you already do that ? In begium it s been possible since forever
North America already has those carts
I've never seen carts in North America that can roll sideways.
I have
Have you seen all of America?
I finally saw one of those carts a couple months ago. It was, humorously enough, at a Korean market.
Ahahah Simon sounds so Canadian here XD
OMG SIMON SAID 'AY'!!!!!!!
holy crap that green onion is as big as me jesus christ lol
We do, though they break all the time XD
I thought everyone had them aswell! :)
haha funny how almost all the comments are about the shopping cart.

its SOOOOOoooooooooooooo busy!!!
Eh? I'm glad they don't use that one often. Haha. I it would remind me that they're Canadian. Jk
