Totally agree with you! I just decided to get a G3 77” over a G4 65”. I checked both tv side by side . The only thing that was bothering me was the game mode on G3. But after so many tests and yes! I could fixed that using the FMM + ALLM + HGIG “hack” ! You practically transform your G3 into a G4 by paying 40% less. because the results are very similar. And the latency increasing is imperceptible. +~ 4 ms (Like a Sony A95L)! 🙌
Appreciate the videos. I still am looking forward to seeing what you can do with it. I got the g4 since I was able to get it for basically the same price as the g3. I loved the g3 in person. I hope the g4 issues get resolved. I am coming from a 2012 Samsung edge lit LED so it should still be leaps and bounds better then what I am used to.
I really wanted the G3, I like webOS much more than Tizen, unfortunately here in Brazil, specifically where I live, LG doesn't deliver and it's not available at retail, so I ended up buying the S90D 55" on a great offer, costing less than 2/3 the price of the G3 55", while LG started pre-selling the C4 55" costing more than double what I paid for the S90D ($824).
Rec 2020 is what really matters the most. Now go do the same comparison with your old q8fn vs The G3, G4, QN90B QN90C.... That first gen Quantum dot tech absolutely wipes the floor with contemporary display color coverage.
I had the G3, still ended up returning it due to lackluster color compared to QD-OLED. Yeah brightness is nice, but it’s all so washed out in HDR for gaming. I don’t dislike it but if Im paying premium prices I want color perfection. I plan on waiting for S90D to go on sale or to get the gen 3 panel
Im so undecided between Samsung QN900D vs LG G4 OLED the only reason I haven’t finally decided is because Dolby Vision it comes to that again and again and Im Spinning in circle inside my room I have an lg c1 since it first came out and I’m upgrading to one of those two
I own a 65 inch LG cx. And it looks great overall. But anytime I go to my buddy's who owns a 65 inch Samsung s90c, I just am dazzled by the glow of the color reproduction. I'd definitely change my settings from his, but the fact his s90c gets as vibrant as it does, gives much more work around than my LG cx. And I have to relearn how to love my cx everytime I've left his house gaming on his TV with him.
Hey whats your opinion based on watching mostly cable TV in my living room with shades on the windows a little indirect sunlight from a door window and lamp reflection. Will be used a lot to watch all sorts of content but not news channels for long periods. Which TV do you think is the better buy for my situation? All prices are 65" with my discount used and memorial day sale pricing. Sony Bravia 7 $1,900, LG G4 $2,142, LG G3 $1,863 Samsung S90D $2,069.99 and Samsung QN90D $2,249.99, Samsung QN90C $1,119.99. I didn't include the Bravia 8, 9 or Samsung S95D because the prices are nearly $3k. Thanks again for any recommendations.
Sony is 3rd place this year. The S90D and G4 have surpassed the A95L. Quantum would tell you S90D out of the ones you listed. S95D has an ugly matte finish and one connect box. I personally would never buy a model with a one connect box because I prefer having the inputs on the actual TV.
I just dont understand how every release whatever reviewers big or small channels alike whatever is being toughted as the best TV for the year its always the opposite here. I just dont get it 🤷♂️ but hopefully I will see your G4 review with the actual tv to see if any of this changes or not 🤷♂️

Which year exactly was is that the newer tv models where so significantly better than the previous ones to justify the purchase for everyone? I don't remember such year. In fact all you are clearly doing is pushing a certain samsung right now, before upcoming firmware downdate. And how much better is it really than the s90c, at $1,900 55" without competitive guarantee? Would you say every s90c owner should buy s90d?

Is it possible to get that lost color and clarity/contrast back on the G4 to match the G3 with some setting adjustments or is it not possible?

This is a very misleading video. The G4 is superior to the G3 in game mode alone. No dimming of colors.
