The Necrons are a race of mechanical warriors, created from the Necrontyr. They have lain dormant in their stasis-tombs for sixty million years. They are ancient beyond reckoning, pre-dating even the Eldar. At long last, however, they are beginning to awaken, seeking to reestablish the supremacy of the Necron Dynasties over the Galaxy once more.[4a] The domain of the Necrons is known to themselves as the Infinite Empire.

Another thing to keep in mind is the whole myth around the Silent King might not be him sucking himself off but other dynasties sucking him off instead. While a lot of dynasties do hate him and will never listen to him there's also just as many that will drop whatever they're doing the second he asks something of them.
Honestly really funny imagining a dynasty saying all this shit to him and the king just goes Ciaphas Cain mode saying "haha yeah I definitely subjugated whole galaxies while you were asleep for you all and they definitely didn't get all devoured by Tyranids. Just for the sake of nostalgia tho let's try *really* hard to preserve this galaxy alright?"

There's not much point in leaving with army of robots, most of whom lack any really personality or independence; if he wanted to do that he couldve just left with all the necron in the first place and not bothered leaving them in the tomb worlds.

It makes sense that the Silent King's Necron body wouldn't look very different than most of the others, to the C'tan that formed it, he wasn't important, just another morsel on their plates. If anything, the differences that are there are an insult, marking him as the one who threw his people's souls away while also getting the point across that he's no different in their eyes

People probably expected closer to overlords, cryptarchs, destroyers, just some kind of modification, but the question is were *those* units modified after biotransference? Perhaps the lords were just slightly distinguished from regular necrons, including keeping their consciousness, and units such as plasmancers and skorpekh destroyers were modified to suit their needs years later. If anything that would make him humble, to remain as he was instead of complicating himself with further technology

With the Silent King traveling to other galaxies, it's possible he didn't travel all the way to a neighboring major galaxy. The milky way has multiple small satellite galaxies, which theoretically could harbor life especially in the context of 40k. Could be that he has basically cleared all those out and the tyranids are coming in from a more distant major galaxy.

The problem with a (Pre-Necron) Necrontyr "face-reveal" is that it is nearly implied that the C'tan erased the memory of the Necrontyr as a physical people from time itself when they swore alliegiance. People who see glimpses of the time 2-1 billion years ago before the War in Heaven report the blurred haziness as a silhouette of the Necron's physical body. Trazyn even comments that he cannot recover the memory of what he looked like during the Time of Flesh in the Infinite and the Divine. All he sees is a finger clutching a quill, or the reflection of a dark eye in the mirror.

    My two cents on the Silent King's look is this;
I think it's a fun idea to play around with the idea of a guilty king who stripped away his ostentation. Like he kinda looks like an ordinary necron, but there's an edge to him where you know he's not just an ordinary necron.
But the look they went for him is ostentatious without really making him seem as special as you'd expect for the leader of an entire faction. Idk, it's kinda midway there.

I assume that's roughly where Cadia was. My thinking is that when Cadia fell and the pylons were destroyed, it was the last of the Eye's chains being released. The Eye of Terror as we know was caused by the birth of Slaanesh. The great rift, I think, wasn't caused by some rebounding from the death of Cadia. The great rift is what the Eye of Terror was supposed to be. The giant fuck-off tear in reality would have been a day 1 thing were it not for the blackstone pillars keeping it contained to the Eye.

Technically speaking, it's possible we STILL don't have a clue what a Necrontyr's real face looks like, because the skull-shaped heads of the Necrons could simply represent the death-masks that the death-obsessed Necrontyr might have worn as part of their everyday cultural fashion.

There are a number of words spelled with "ae" in English that American English spells with just an "e" - daemon, encyclopaedia, paediatric. It's the same as colour vs color, flavour vs flavor. 40k in particular loves to use the 'ae' spellings of words. Generally, if you see an "ae" in a word you'd normally spell with just an 'e', it's the same word, pronounced the same way with a long "ee" sound.

The necron codex talking about how the silent king was fighting other planets beyond the milky way raises up a lot of questions GW will never be bold enough to touch. And it puts a lot of legitimacy of the tyranids at risk.
For one, him just casually being outside and fighting others means the milky way isn't the last galaxy standing. There's more than what the tyranids have eaten. For another, it means there isn't a greater threat that forced the tyranids to us. If so, the Silent King would know about it and wouldn't be so afraid of the tyranids, but this threat following them.
Don't get me wrong, I like that they are building up the necron king of all kings up more, but they put a different faction's barely existing lore into a spot.

When the Silent King meets Dante, he’s described as appearing larger, more elegant and robust than other necrons. He supposedly appears to have a fuller body than the rest of the necrons’ skeletal ones. So to have him pop back up as a model that’s an overlord with a few more flashy bits on him was a bit underwhelming, at least for me. I wasn’t expecting a necron primarch but something a bit beefier and more intricate than the regular nobles at least

Like, what a fuckin gigachad. Especially compared to the Emperor. Big E couldn't even make his own empire without brutal subjugation of his own people, a doctrine that stifles ad just ensures that more would turn to chaos. He practically set the frame work of the imperium where humanity is only prosperous at the cost of humanity itself.
Meanwhile, Szaerekh upon seeing his mistake not only rallies his people together to kill their "masters", but after doing so gets up and goes to other galaxies to conqeur all without (intentionally) putting his people at risk to ensure his people's prosperity in the long term.

Actually the sleep probably saved most of their number's minds. If all of them were awake for that 60 million years , most likely majority of them would have driven insane.
The only necrons who were awake were Szarekh and his barely sentient crew on Song of Oblivion and a small number of Praetorians who were awake to keep an eye on the galaxy.
In Twice Dead Kings we see the nobility starts to unravel even before War in Haven ends.
Necrons are bound to a slow painful degredation and death. This is why Szarekh is so desperate. And this is why while I love Imotekh (and he has my vote in the upcoming necron civil war) he NEEDS to look into the fact that his people WILL eventually completely degrade...himself included.
I don't think that an EXACT replica of a necrontyr face but a sarcophagus's lid. A Phaeron's grave gilded and depicted as such. That beard thing is just an artistic choice on a mask I think
I don't think he went all on his own and conquered ENTIRE galaxies it is ridiculous. I think its at best the dwarf galaxies sorruounding milky way. Also the fact that it shows certain parts of this myths is straight up lie since technomandrites fucking HATES Szarekh and PRETEND subsercience. They want the bastard dead who stuck them in prison for 60 million years in prison for DOING WHAT HE ASKED.

Regardless where you stand on how powerful he is, one thing no one can argue about is his influence.
This guy made 2 decisions that changed the galaxy forever.
    1. Agreeing to biotransference in order to wage war one the Old Ones.
    2. Turning on the C'tan and killing the star gods.
The ascension and damnation of his race, the deaths of two god-races, The war in heaven, creation of the (Kr)orks and Aeldari, the complete disruption of the once peaceful warp and by extension the empowerment of chaos, the birth of slaanesh, the existence of Gork and Mork, the creation of the Emperor, the eye of terror, and possibly even the Tyranids coming.
All these major events can be traced back to the decisions of the Silent King.
Without the war in heaven, no eldar or (Kr)orks.
Without Eldar, no slaanesh. Without (Kr)orks, no Gork and Mork.
If the warp was calm, the creation of the Emperor wouldnt have been needed, as the souls of the dead would reincarnate instead of being eaten by warp creatures. Thus the ritual to create him, would never have happened.
Without chaos being empowered by the war in heaven and the disruption of the warp, and with no emperor being created, the imperium would not exist, chaos corruption would not have happened, the heresy would not have happened, and the black crusades would not have happened, which means the great rift would not have happened. If the heresy didnt happen then the Pharos device would not have been overloaded and supposedly attracting the Tyranids.
Now that he has returned, I wonder how often the Silent King has looked out upon the galaxy he left, and extrapolated backwards what happened, and saw how devastating and wide reaching his influence has been, not only over space, but through time and even his effect on the immaterium, a whole other dimension.
Whole worlds may burn in Ghazghull's boot print, but whole galaxies and dimensions are shatterd by the shockwaves sent out by the Silent King!
