I know everyone isn’t really a big fan of ‘long forks’ but mainly the purpose of having them is obviously winning the ‘ground’ game. If you’re facing an opponent with forks and you don’t have forks you would probably get wrecked (unless you have some kind of ‘pure skill’). If I remember correctly, the first robot that introduced ‘wedgelets or long forks’ was probably Bronco from 2015 where it had its match against Tombstone (okay I know Bronco did not have forks but you can get the idea of how long that front attachment was). The teams did not care about forks back in those years until 2019 or maybe 2020 they appeared outta nowhere???? Idk I might be wrong though.
I've been following BattleBots and the others for many years and it's amazing how sophisticated the designs have become! As a Mechanical Engineer and R/C hobbyist it just makes me grin!

Great fight but I do have to say that am so gutted for Sawblaze.I really think their bot is easily up there as an all time great, especially when it comes to the design. Shame it didn't happen for it against Endgame but no doubt that the rightful winner was crowned in that best of the best final fight. Love the programme n can't wait for the next season.
End Game's terrible driving - refusing to go forward after big hits, when SawBlaze would land and bet out of control - was their biggest detriment... maybe their forks. But their lack of interest in driving forward into vulnerable Sawblaze was curious. "Had they not ever seen one of their victims land on the floor before? Was this totally unexpected positioning inches away from their straight-ahead path? They'd even retreat in cases - drive back, away from great attack positions." They were clearly the dominant weapons system - Sawblaze is far too limited by design. But because of bad driving skills, End Game left so many points and destruction on the floor. Was this kindness? "Don't hit me twice in a row-!!" sheesh
I'm so sad the season is over. I love watching BattleBots, so exciting. But I was wondering why Witch Doctor wasn't in this tournament. But I was happy for the way it turned out. End Game put up a big fight to win. (59F.) 💕💕😊
Those extended forks on End Game didn't seem to work as well as expected, but I still think End Game deserved the win, and not just because I'm a New Zealander!
Saw blade should’ve been more aggressive, they had so many times to cut the belt of endgame. They were hesitant worry breaking weapon. But soon as endgame figured out they used it as their shield. But it was great game, made me tense🤟
Yeah that was the tricky part of the fight. Endgame has that reputation, if you stick anything in Endgame's weapon, you'll lose it. Fast. Team Sawblaze knew that, so they didn't attack as much as they ordinarily might have. That might have even been the right call, too, if they'd broken their fist on Endgame's face it wouldn't even have been a split decision, but that just means then that they got out-driven because they never got the angle they wanted.
END GAM MY BOI. What a crew he has. Ah yeah. But I have to admit. Saw blade was close with all his use of hazards and a great start. If he took couple less hits I am pretty certain he would have taken that prize
I'm probably a bit biased towards my fellow Kiwis but this was definitely one of the stranger split decisions. I get that there was a pause for an unstick which wasn't shown but I can only assume Derek must have left the arena before they got going again because all the massive hits Endgame got in the second half surely more than made up for Sawblaze winning the pushing match at the start.
The snafu is End Game got stuck because of its long forks. Plus, they originally didn't try to back away and just tried to keep pushing forward into SawBlaze. I think all 3 judges actually had some debacle about this scenario because End Game I think was almost penalized points because of its forks.
Knowing about the unstick I can understand why this decision was split. Sawblaze was winning most of the early exchanges, but you can tell that right around 1:10 to about 1:38, one of End Game's forks had been jammed through the cutout for Sawblaze's flamethrower and the barbed end making it near impossible for the bots to pull each other apart. After the unstick, Jammo lost most of his momentum and End Game dominated, but neither bot dealt enough damage to disable key components (though Sawblaze's forks looked pretty mangled). It's still kind of a leap on Derek Young's part to assert that Sawblaze was winning. All and all, that was a weird Top 8. Lots of random malfunctions and seeding that pretty much ensured that this final was going to happen and yet another 4WD vertical spinner walks away with hardware. Personally I hope they either alter the Champions format to add gatekeepers again (Shreddit Bro, Jackpot, Whiplash, RIPperoni, Free Shipping) or make the Giant Nut winners run the gauntlet with everyone else, no more byes virtually guaranteeing that a previous champion wins the Golden Bolt.
Nah, it's just excuses, "lost momentum" has never, ever been a thing in judging criteria, cry about it all you want, SawBlaze lost this fight on its own, no help needed
@@BlakeMaddox-ln6uu I agree that Sawblaze wasn't winning this so not sure what the hostility is for. I was only trying to figure out how Derek came to that conclusion and it probably had something to do with the unstick.
People are just sick of excuses so hence why hes hostile i rewatched the fight 3 criterias damage control aggression all 3 won by endgame a stick it accidental so neither team gets points for that i dont get why anyone can watch that an even give sawblaze a look in just go to tge part where he says split descion an look at jamisons face hes shocked he knew he was beat bad
lol nice to see battlebots seems to havent changed in the last idk 10 years since i watched it. only difference is a vertical spinner reigning supreme instead of the horizontal
Bite Force exists, the bot has won 3 Giant Nuts, 2 of them with a vertical spinner. The only horizontal spinner who has won the Giant Nut is Tombstone, all other bots who won the championship since the 2015 reboot had vertical bar, disk, saw or drum spinners. Also, vertical spinners are the strongest and most reliable spinning weapons as they can throw bots upwards instead of sideways from horizontal spinners and are extremely hard to stop working due to their thickness and resilience from dealing damage to other bots and damage dealt to itself. There have been many occasions when Tombstone's spinning bar snapped or its own weapon proved to be its downfall. The only thing you've gotten right is that the show hasn't changed much in the variety of bots. Vertical spinners still remain the best, but technology in many of the bots has increased drastically.

It does call into question whether Endgame would have defeated Huge or Minotaur. I love that Sawblaze breaks the current meta for combat robots.
@@JoshuaCamacho09 I don't see a way Endgame can beat Huge, and Minotaur beat them in an amazing fight back in 2021
End Game's terrible driving - refusing to go forward after big hits, when SawBlaze would land and bet out of control - was their biggest detriment... maybe their forks.
The reason they aren't aggressive is because of their forks. They're so low that they get caught on the floor, especially on the killsaws.
Amazing battlebots
2 golden bolts in a row for end game!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I'm so sad the season is over. I love watching BattleBots, so exciting. But I was wondering why Witch Doctor wasn't in this tournament. But I was happy for the way it turned out. End Game put up a big fight to win. (59F.) 💕💕😊
LET'S GO ENDGAME!
Those extended forks on End Game didn't seem to work as well as expected, but I still think End Game deserved the win, and not just because I'm a New Zealander!
How i wish uppercut still active. Would be an end game killer.
No
Saw blade should’ve been more aggressive, they had so many times to cut the belt of endgame.
SawBlaze was being more aggressive, but End Game knew how to counter it well.
“ This is the first time we’ve seen SawBlaze in serious trouble” HELLO WHAT ABOUT THE HYDRA FIGHT I DIDN’T SEE SAWBLAZE SHINE IN THAT BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!
What a game, i would love when in future the final match would last longer like 5min or even until KO
Pretty spectacular.
Great announcer work
END GAM MY BOI. What a crew he has. Ah yeah. But I have to admit. Saw blade was close with all his use of hazards and a great start. If he took couple less hits I am pretty certain he would have taken that prize
0:53 botom rights corner wheres waldo?
Good battle!
This was a great champions battle, non stop action.
@@lunamelody2025 I see, that does add a bit more to the discussion I guess, thanks for the info!
Endgame; "they had us in the first half, not gonna lie"
Sawblaze needs a mega-forky front end attachment to win the low-game against them.
Farooq really likes to take his time... LOL!
lol nice to see battlebots seems to havent changed in the last idk 10 years since i watched it. only difference is a vertical spinner reigning supreme instead of the horizontal
SawBlaze is 9/10 driving and power
3/10 weapon
With this pushing power it should get a lift throwing weapon or biting.
That was a good match.
Jamo says “ we have a special configuration for endgame” me who can’t tell the difference.
This one deserves a rewatch 😵🔥💯💥 ENDGAME ❤ That was massive.
Endgame was the clear winner, crazy there was a split decision
When I watched this live, I was confused as to why they didn't just cut the fork off that was stuck. Now I know why!
I can't believe ANYONE would have voted for sawvlaze?!
