    I've been eagerly awaiting proper reviews of the K1 Max. Thank you for this excellent review. I'm happy to see that Creality is fixing the initial issues of the K1. I print a lot of TPU on textured glass with no surface prep at all. I print the first layer at 75C then turn off the bed heater and the prints are well adhered but pop off easily and cleanly. I was a bit disappointed to see that the PEI surface on the K1 Max was damaged by TPU. Hopefully there will be a print surface that's better for TPU, or maybe a new TPU profile will fix the problem.
    The K1 Max seems to be improving rapidly but I'll still wait a couple of months in the hope of getting a more polished and debugged printer. There are many little details and they all need to work, but I'm optimistic. I've been without an enclosed 3D printer for a couple of years and I need to print some ABS. The K1 Max could be my one printer for all of my prints.

    • @JJShankles
      @JJShankles  Год назад +3

      Maybe I was pulling too hard on the TPU which was the cause of the damage, but yeah if I was going to be doing a lot of TPU printing, then I would either use gluestick, or test out some other surfaces.
      It will be interesting to see how much it will improve with updates in the next few months. The LiDAR and camera are good hardware, but with good software is what it really needs to be great

  • @promalpgid
    @promalpgid Год назад +3

    I bought this printer in the hope that I would print abs without problems, but in fact everything turned out not quite well - after printing one coil, the native substrate of the table fell into disrepair, spots appeared on it to which the plastic stopped sticking, then error 2564 appeared, then 2564, then E0801, starting to understand and read the user reviews, I came to the conclusion that creality has released a raw product that has problems with the hotend, there are also problems with the extruder, glitches in management, and all this is of course being finalized in the process, but at the moment the user is incurring losses by buying a beautiful defect. Before that, there was ender 3 pro and it was a very positive and productive experience.

    I was set on a Bambu P1S, but the K1 Max seemed like a better alternative. However, this comment section leaves me even more undecided. That said, I don't foresee myself using/needing the AMS of the BL, and that seems to be a big selling point for that machine. So, I'm leaning toward the K1 Max. Both options seem impressive.

    • @JJShankles
      @JJShankles  Год назад +3

      They both are incredible machines, and you'll probably be happy with either. Creality has really improved the design since the original K1 printers got sent out, and they are sending out upgraded extruders which is awesome to see. They also said they are going to release the open source code in September which will be something Bambu will never do. That will make community mods and upgrades way better on the Creality system.

      Other than an occasional clog my X1C carbon has been flawless - I’ve got 4 creality printers - none of them match the quality in the x1c in print quality or speed - creality is going to have to prove to me they are competitive and have mended their ways - I just want a printer that works - not one I have to fuss with constantly.

    • @ions82

      @@Derek-je6vg From what I have seen/read, the P1S is equal to the X1C in terms of speed and print quality. Being a total noob, not sure if the jump up to an X1C would be worth it for me, but I'd definitely consider it. I told myself I would order one next week, but maybe I should wait to see some more comparisons between the K1 Max and X1C come out. I definitely don't mind paying a little more if I can get more reliability and consistency.

The AMS has been a game changer for me since my painting skills are lacking. I've printed several multicolor signs and personalized coasters with minimal filament waste. It's really opened up the possibilities of what I can do.

    Just to let you know, activated charcoal only lasts 48 hrs unless you put it in a bag right away after use and as far as smoke and gasses you'd need a 6003 filter or better - it usually has a yellow tag or band on the filter. Hepa filter is for dust, molds, viruses, and bacteria, it DOES NOT trap gases.

      I regret that I have but one thumbs up to give to this comment. It's insane that Chinese companies take open source software that people love, then rip it off and cripple it to make their own proprietary software. No user wants a manufacturer (or machine) specific crippled slicer. Just give us the profiles for the open source slicers we're already using. Stop stealing open source software and using it to try to force us into your proprietary ecosystem that you'll abandon as soon as you're on to your next printer.

    I'm getting the max. I've had nothing but problems with bambu. Severe clog from day 1 to AMS cheap plastic part breaking within first month. It printed fine initially but quality got progressively worse as time went on. Worst part is how they force you to route everything through their cloud. You can't even update the firmware without connecting to the cloud and if you do you forfeit all your personal data along with granting access to the camera. It's fine if you want to print a bunch of junk from printables but if you're printing proprietary models for profit, RIP to your IP.

      Quality getting progressively worse is on you because you didn't do the maintenance they recommend. The printer tells you when to do it and links you to a video in their wiki to show you how, so there is no excuse. A clog is due to filament not the printer and that happens to all printers. They don't even force you to use the cloud, you can run in LAN mode. None of your complaints are anybodies fault but your own.

    I sucked it up and ordered K1 Max.
    Was initially undecided between P1P and K1.
    P1P crap screen, open, cloud.
    K1 small print size, no LIDAR and then I'd have to replace the extruder.
    P1S is basically P1P but closed and the price in EU not that far away from K1 Max.
    X1C too expensive for its print size. AMS I don't care about.
    So I figured I might as well get something that will last a long time. K1 Max. Creality while probably not as great quality as Bambu, they do have a huge following and will make K1 open source in September. This was a really, really hard choice. Thanks to Bambu Labs.

      IMO the P1S is a better more premium machine. I also had the K1 and its seriously lacking in design and build quality in comparison. No nozzle wiper/poop shoot/filament cutter. no automatic belt tensioner and the belt path on the K1 is so bad they needed to use 9mm pulleys for 6mm belts. Furthermore the gaps in the panels mean i never saw more than 38C internal temp and im not sure if its just the K1 but there is no air filter. Also dont get me started about software, bambu is like a prusa, the creality is just a creality bro.
      If you dont care about doing some minor upgrades and changing to klipper then the K1 is honestly not that bad. But I returned my K1 as soon as i saw the P1S in person.

      @rockels_journals 2 месяца назад

      It's just a little corner at the bottom left, which has been "greyed out" as printing area due the filament cutter. You can easily solve this by printing an adapter to lock it in place and re-configurate the build plate in the printer settings to use the full printing area.
      That filament cutter is only needed for color/filament changing when using the AMS. Something the K1 does not have. So you could actually lock it in place and configure the whole printing area when you do not have an AMS unit.

      The AMS is not just for color printing, you can use a different material for support for the ease of removal and quality of overhangs, also it can automatically move on to the next spool of the same material if the first one runs out, basically you get the equivalent of a 4kg spool if you load 4 1kg spools in, or 16kg if you're going crazy with 4 AMS

The supports do WEIRD things, adding supports in area there isn't even anything being supported, and the scan for printer function needs to have a troubleshooting function so you can see where the issue is as to why it doesn't find anything. For instance, is it firewall? Is it router? Is there no printer to connect to (communicate with the app&website-cloud and see if it's offline there) etc. Just not finding anything is as helpful as turning the power breaker off and saying you can't find the right light switch.

    Don't know what you're doing but the P1P does NOT run input shaper calibration on each print. Only when you ASK it to do it. The delay time between "print" and "printing" has to do with the slower cpu performance of the P1P as it takes longer to decompress the uploaded file (though this improved dramatically with the current firmwares). But in NO way the delay on the P1P has ANYTHING to do with "doing input shaper" like you're stating.

    • @JJShankles
      @JJShankles  Год назад

      Fine, but it does a lot of vibrating and some sort of calibration that takes a really long time.

    • @kaween1000
      @kaween1000 Год назад +1

      @@JJShankles Again, no, not really. The ¨P1P does _not_ have the ability to do ANY flow calibrations automatically (no Lidar). It will ONLY do an input shaping test as part of the "Printer Calibration procedure" which you must start manually from _within the LCD panel_ and not as part of a _print job_. The ONLY thing a P1P can "calibrate" as part of the print job is "Bed Leveling" : That part will indeed "Vibrate", as Bambu uses tactile sensors underneath the bed for bed leveling on both the X and P series. The "vibrating" occurs when doing a Bed Level test, where every couple of measurement points, the bed will be "shaken up and down" momentarially to reset said sensors to a baisc correct non-triggered value. This means that I believe you are constantly running BED LEVELING before each printjob, and yes that takes time. But it also is _not_ necessary in my experience. Unless you changed your bed surface inbetween prints, conducted maintenance on the printer inbetween jobs or the new print job uses a significantly different bed temperature, there's zero need to redo bed level test for each print (and the machine allows you to choose to avoid doing that for each print). When not activated, the P1P calibrates NOTHING prior to each print, and the only time spend is doing the unpacking of each send print job, which does _not_ cause any "vibrations" either.

  • @BeefIngot
    @BeefIngot Год назад +1

    There are two main reasons why I don't buy a K1 over a P1P, 1. Creality cloud SUCKS, its so unsecure doesn't work that great etc. 2. The k1 doesn't have a multicolor option, and even if they came out with one for it. I think the AMS would work much better than it. The AMS just works so good! It is hands down, the best multicolor option on the market right now.

      For two colors an IDEX system is way better due to much less waste!
      Also the AMS is a very pricy option, especially since many mod this thing because of the spool limitations (So you initially buy parts with that AMS that many don't use at the end). So it's not everything so shiny!
      But at least it is on the market! Other than a multi-toolhead option like the Prusa XL which is still not available (and even more expensive).
      Hope that Creality, Sovol and others do think about an alternative to that AMS, especially Sovol since they often respect and support the open source community.

      @@hassosigbjoernson5738 I would say the main reason I think its so good is because the integration and the filament cutter. For this type of system where it has just one nozzle, being able to cut the tip is a really helpful thing. I had a mmu2s and I could never get a good print out of it because it would just keep failing because of the tips. Once you get the spools down, like I just use sunlu filament, it works like a charm. I've only had one failed print on the Bambu because of the poop chute clogging up, while I've had tons of failures with the mmu. I would say if you want to print lots of colors this is the best option. if you only print like 2 colors or print like pva or something a idex is great! And if you want to print with both multi material and color it looks like the prusa xl will be the option. But definitely ams is a great multicolor option.
