- Rookie Shaq has a decent NBA debut. On the one hand, he instantly provides Orlando with great shot blocking and defensive reboundig. On the other hand, you can see that O'Neal is not yet ready for the aggressive NBA double teams as he makes a few mistakes that account for 8 turnovers. I got to say that those two coast to coast trips Shaq took are absolutely amazing. November 6, 1992.

he made his first two free throws. is this real life
i was wrong. it was 4 first free throw. is this real life?!!!
And he went cold for the rest of his career
Wu Liwei Shaq wasn't that bad from free throw. He is a career like 52%. People like DeAndre Jordan and Andre Drummond shoot like 30-40%
He was alot more athletic and about 40 pounds lighter in Orlando so I guess that may have helped.
@@zr8693 i feel like he changed his approach to how he shot free throws. Here he's shooting them like jumpshots. Later on, he was like craddling the shots and shooting one handed.
lmao double teaming shaq in his first game... what a G
Jose Jesurajan right
And even a triple team
Peeped his first preseason game too. Exactly the same thing. Absolutely nuts
Shaq was able to make free throws because his hands weren't so god dam big during this time.
no he didn't have injuries back then
Jake Reid Shaq just couldn't make free throws periods, it was a mental not a physical problem. there's ton of NBA players with huge hands who can shoot free throws lol dumb logic
Mr steal yo booty does make it harder tho..
He can’t make free throws because he’s to strong to even shoot
Shaq had better shooting mechanics and his free throws had more arc in this game.
I know it's already been said in the comments, but JUST TO CONFIRM, were Shaq's first points really two free throws in a row?? How delicious.
Shaq first and last game were both against Miami 🤯 Crazy
this dude was getting double in his nba debut
A surprisingly good defender, even as a rookie, and his passing is fantastic. Alot of rookie mistakes that give me a chuckle. Great upload btw!
its crazy when you watch videos of shaq in college and in orlando when he actually had a decent stroke at the free throw line! Injuries and little practice led to what you saw recently. Don't think he and his 4 rings care too much though XD
bcmoykg his free throw was always the same . I bet if you look at the box score he missed 50%. This is only highlights duh. They not showing misses
lol he shot 57% from the line in college. Thats not decent
@@MrRetroswag Shaq actually shot 4/7 in this game
Shaq did had a decent NBA debut I have to admit what shocked me is that on his debut he was able to hit the free throws no problem and got 18 rebs which I think is pretty damn good for his debut if you ask me so yea Shaq did his thing in his debut he's truly one of the most powerful center player of all times didn't nobody had his speed, quickness, skill, footwork like he did for his size.
Shaq was very exciting to watch during his days in Orlando
Every time Shaq dunked, he tried to break the backboard.
A legend is born
shaq actually could shoot free throws when he was younger
Fastest 3 seconds ever
That FT form is so much better than the Shaq we know 0_o
Thank you. Was this on National TV?
I was impressed with his free throw shooting. At what point did his form change from this to the “one-handed-fingertip” style?
Damn look up physical basketball used to be comparing to this no touch League of today
2:59-3:01 Is that Melody Thomas Scott in the background???
3:12 O'Neal runs the floor, takes it all the way!!!
Double teamed in his first game
He had 8 turnouvers in that game
the way he did his free throws here is different. his form. when he was on the lakers moving forward the ball looked like a soft ball or something
Wow this guy's pretty decent. If he keeps it up he'll have a bright future
lol
MrUrkel0730 he just does tv shows and shops at Walmart
Deym! First two freethrow?💪💪
shaq after injuring his right hand started shooting nasty. people forget he was a average freethrows shooter as a center his first year
Shaq was hitting freethrows back then my nigga, it was lit, daaaamn, he went off.
he made his first two free throws
shaquille is a titan
Shaq on the fastbreak?! You don't see that often.
Ironically, Shaw and Seikaly later became Orlando Magic
Come on Shaq... He could make free throws, that shooting motion was pretty good and fluent. Unfortunately he never continued to finish his shooting motion smh
Note those old goals that Shaq would make them change out for an NBA design that could hold his weight.
i remember an SI story from the time said the only fat on shaq was on his bottom lip. he was in shape, young and athletic!
Daniel Olinsky I think he's body fat percentage was between 8 and 12%.
5:15 big travel from Skiles
So at one point Shaq had a 100% career average from the free throw line…
If Shaq had a work ethic and committed to defense consistently he had all the potential to be the greatest ever
He is the greatest ever dummy
Is this Oneal First Game? In NBA?
No in the NFL
yeah, what happened?
Seikaly later backed him up in Orlando and Sally backed him up in Los Angeles lol
Most athletically gifted NBA player ever... right up there with Lebron... we'll never see a 7 footer with that much power, footwork, and skill as Shaq ever again...
Hakeem Olajuwon begs to differ. Way more athleticism and better footwork than Shaq. Shaq dominated because of his size and power. Dream had more finesse.
@@zr8693 Shaq > Hakeem x10000000
wtf happnd to his freethrow form
Heat #33: Alec Kessler... RIP
Shaq-to-Bowie was a nice one. Turner should have taken that shot. Bad choice.
1992-93 Heat had pretty good roster with Bimbo coming off bench.
Bison Dere (Brian Williams) in warm-ups. Interesting.
1:35 you can see that the guy coming to double team Shaq gets an elbow to the face
Lots of tough calls for Shaq in this game - 3 seconds, travels and soft fouls
Pretty good first game, But I call fluke, Laetner will be better, Magic are gonna regret not taking him.
What did Laettner accomplish in the NBA other than 1 all star selection? You are a fucking idiot!
RayDill 6061 tell me your joking
Calm Down he just joking.
Damn son you kinda late just like me.
almost a tripple double xD
1:19 got what!?
Look how hard they use to play
I was just gonna say the same, then I see your comment at the top :)
If Shaq had stayed as fit as he was here, he would have absolutely dominated.
he didnt?
dafuq? he got nice shooting stroke here. why he changed it xD
shaq made 2 free throws :O
no he made 4
Man it's really true if shaq had the work ethic he could have been the greatest of all time atleast at center. But 4 rings is still pretty sweet lol
He is the greatest center of all time
WTF. Had a prettier form while shooting free throws and made them. Good thing it's on video cuz I would not have believed it if somebody told me
Dang Ivica Zubac don't move like Shaq :(
@4:49 priceless
Like its been said... his free throw form is crazy different here! What the **** happened lol!
Also weird hearing an announcer on live TV saying that Shaq got raped (Around 1:20)! Lol
he said raked, it's pretty obvious too
Kevin Dunphy it's crazy and he was in the doggy position when he said it
/ 6 fouls / 1 win
300 pounds is skinny?
For him it was. I think he was about 8% body fat coming out of LSU.
On the real though, Shaq is hella skinny here lol
only in comparison
yeah wtf his shooting form here is way better
FAKE!! Shaq made a free throw in 0:30
he looks skinny compared to what he ends up being in Lakers
Shaq had 50 turnovers lol
Lol “he got raped”
5:15 Shaq switched pivot foot. Travel.
Thats actually not a travel
@@shakeemrobinson30 7 years later, and i must say i have finally been corrected. i now see that it wasn't a travel lol
@@KryptoChronicutelite lol I had to look at it again, and I had a feeling you would reply
@@shakeemrobinson30 haha
