@@JonnyandChloe If it happened randomely then try restarting your computer and seeing if that helps, if not then maybe see if any effects on the audio are causing the choppiness and pinpoint which one it is. Also try rendering it on the timelime and seeing if it plays back smoothly then, and also exporting a section to see if its smooth in the export; these will help you pinpoint what the problem is and narrow it down for a solution.

Dude, you literally just saved my computers life. I shot my first client video exclusively in 4k and was about to have a meltdown. Between enabling GPU acceleration, and doing proxies I am finally able to edit the footage. Seriously thank you.
Another little tidbit that helps me is after every big effect I just push enter to pre-render the effects to create previews and at the end when I export I just tick 'use previews' and it makes it 50x faster to render. Especially on a laptop lol. Thanks for the tips Pete!
I love this channel ⭐🔥✔ Here are some more tips to really make premiere INSANELY FASTER 1) Upgrade to an M.2 disk instead old hard drives and SSD. M.2 can read/write 10 times faster and it's becoming the new standard in 2019 !!! 2) Put some liquid cooling on your processor it will enhance the performance of your system. 3) Do some overclocking of your processor and memory. Nowadays there are safe margins that all developers recommend to take the most of your hardware. 4) Use an Intel Octane memory to speed up all your hard drives. 5) MOVE your premiere caché to the faster disk available. Deleting of cleaning doesn't really make improvement of speed. I'm open to help if you have questions guys. Cheers!
These tips will not make your editing workflow "insanely faster." 1) I use both M.2 and a SSD (both 860 and 970 EVO respectively) in my rig. M.2 drives aren't going to give you a huge performance boost over another SSD when editing video in premiere, that just isn't true. 2) Liquid cooling will only help if you're thermal throttling currently. Liquid cooling in itself DOES NOT increase processing speeds. 3) Absolutely! 4) If you have a ~$1,000 burning a hole in your pocket maybe? 5) Yes, but still clear your cache if you haven't in a while. I think you meant well, and I'm not tryna tear you down, but some of these just aren't true.

ive been editing for the best part of 4 years and have recently started post production on a shortfilm with uni where they used 4k footage. my pc was slow and i coudlknt understand because iot was a good computer. the media cache clear worked like a charm for me! thankyou so much

Drew Bernard the reason Final Cut renders almost instantly is because it pre-renders your stuff in background and just stitches things together when you hit "Share" This gives you epic performance, but may result a 5 minute project to grow to 40GB because it renders in 422

Wow, I'm in the learning phase of premier pro and I'm working off of a high $ gaming laptop for editing my photos and videos. I just got a insta360 one x2 camera that shoots in 5k, my computer does not care for it. I've watched several video about making proxies, and you have explained it so fast and made it easy to understand. One guy spent almost 5 minutes going into depth in the settings in the encoder program. Thanks for your video man, you explain everything so easy, even I can understand it.
I know this video is getting old, but this really helps Peter, half a year ago I started doing more out of my photography. A few weeks back I started getting my head up for videography as well.. so much to learn, but when premier pro is makes me render the footage every 5 seconds just to have a smooth playback that's really annoying! thanks again Peter:)
i have an issue importing my footage in premiere i have a beefy computer importing footage takes forever ! its in 1920 X 1080 60 fps if its over an hour long it will crash and i have alot of projects id like to record for 3 hours straight and cut into an entertaining 10 minute video but instead i have to be careful not to record for more then an hour because if its 1 minute over an hour its gonna just crash i get the job done but the constant crashing and slow importing is such a headache especially because it worked much better on an older version

I switched to Resolve cause I couldn't take Premiere's slowness and Final Cut's disregard for disk space
How does Final Cut disregard disk space?
Yes and YES! Resolve solves all the issues - without having to tweak anything. I can scrub 4K footage like butter in Resolve

I know this video is getting old, but this really helps Peter, half a year ago I started doing more out of my photography. A few weeks back I started getting my head up for videography as well.. so much to learn, but when premier pro is makes me render the footage every 5 seconds just to have a smooth playback that's really annoying!

i have an issue importing my footage in premiere
i have a beefy computer
importing footage takes forever !
its in 1920 X 1080 60 fps
if its over an hour long it will crash
and i have alot of projects id like to record for 3 hours straight and cut into an entertaining 10 minute video but instead i have to be careful not to record for more then an hour because if its 1 minute over an hour its gonna just crash
i get the job done but the constant crashing and slow importing is such a headache especially because it worked much better on an older version
Instant fix for Premiere:
Use Davinc Resolve.
The media cache clean up solved my problem like a charm . 👍
Use final cut pro X ... problem solved.
