Yes, I have been to Philippines (from California) twice now to be with my gf of about 2 yrs. And I see the amazing smiles they have on their faces despite the poverty. I see the same in Indian villages too (where I grew up). In the West there is this overwhelming desire and greed for more and more and more. I am seriously beginning to wonder if I truly would be enhancing my gf's overall life by bringing her to the US (she's neutral on it). By the way my gf lives okay in the province with her family et. al. They are very grateful for the help I provide. It's a priceless feeling.
On a broader scale, it's absolutely sick what we are doing to this planet, to our peoples with all this poverty (that can easily be wiped out if the Govts. truly put their mind to it) and the environmental garbage and mess. No wonder that some wonder if it's only the benevolent aliens who could save us from ourselves. We are demonstrating that we are incapable of doing so😔 but I still remain optimistic.
I'm sure their health suffers though.
if you think about it, this is all they've ever known. They hustle, make things work. If you have the love from your family and community, why should you not be happy? This is the way billions of people have lived for thousands of years. They make the most of their situation
Is is amazing to see the smiles regardless. My girl lives in a beautiful place called Barobo in Mindanao. Those people there so happy with so little!
Dave Australia here I visit the Philippines quite often and about four years ago maybe five years ago walked through Tondo with a GF when I got to the other end of that area I could not believe what I had seen but the people were so resilient and right in the middle of that placeI saw something I thought I would never see it was a small electric washing machine the smallest washing machine I’ve ever seen operating
Yes, can't believe a place like that, all the children are so happy, they just running around without worry about anything. Want to learn more about the place.

I went to sri lanka a couple of years before when the country went bankrupt, seeing this
surprised me because even sri lanka went bankrupt it's very clean and better than most of the countries in the world , The difference is education, schooling system, i talk to so many poor kids and didn't hear anyone never being to school and up to high school and their literacy rate is equivalent to western countries, disciplined and happy people as well

It always amazes me that even if you are in the situation to live under such conditions, nobody of them has the idea to at least try to clean up, just to make at least a little bit of change.

Why should the government do everything? There are quite healthy guys and women there who do nothing but just hang around doing nothing. Living their incomprehensible lives. Let them organize themselves and bring order to their surroundings, but no, it seems they are happy with everything and, in principle, they apparently deserve it.

Instead of just filming, I was stationed at clark for 2 years. We would go to places like this and provide an array of medical assistance to all. I volunteered almost every weekend to help out
I also want to volunteer if needed

Been there there are peoples around the world help clean up slums removed the trash but it up to them to volunteer help
one can be poor, but one can also keep one's surroundings clean. the way the locals have trash everywhere is just plain disgusting.

Look at the kids. They are all happy. Look at the adults. They all very miserable looking.
Over time, trash and misery takes them over.

I live inland in the Philippines and you wouldn't believe all the trash every where instead of disposing it they throw it out the widow of a car or a tricycle

Recently there’s typhoon entered ph. These trashes came from nearby areas and got stuck here. A few houses are destroyed here by typhoon carina

The Philippines are Catholic country. The churches AND local officers should help and call volunteers to clean up the garbage, providing clean air for people.

It's amazing how happy the people seem in such horrible conditions.
Am hoping you could do more for this community not just highlighting but get petitions to the relevant ministry’s to offer grants to improve the standard of living for these families. Secondly you can give back to the areas you visit by taking 5USD and buying some snacks for the kids as you pass by, that 5USD can buy many many snacks I know the exchange rate pesos to the US so please give back from time to time. Thanks.

Yes they have nothing, the children were born into it, so they do not know any different, give them the choice , I'm sure I know which way they would go. Why would you want to breed only to bring children into this world to endure poverty and hardship for the rest of their lives ? The place is a dump , no reason for the adults not to clean the place up, it's not as if they are doing anything else. Having said that there are some nice places in Manila and the people are friendly.
