Clearly, it is an unfair comparison between the SHURE SM81 and the RODE NTG3, since the SM81 is a Professional Instrument Microphone often used to record Acoustic Guitars, while the NTG3 is a Broadcast Grade Shotgun Microphone best used as a Boom Microphone, therefore, the advantage here should go to the RODE NTG3 in this case.
