Thanks for this well made review. I compared the SM7b with the 100 USD Sennheiser 835 in a professional studio and went for the Sennheiser. With my voice ( more on the Bass side) the SM7b sounded dull on the lower end and the Sennheiser had more dynamics in the middle to high range. I was not very impressed with the Shure.

The sm81 sounds fantastic. I own one myself for overheads and hihats but wow it’s fantastic for voice.

It's model Octo-842S by a company called The Hook Studios. Pricey but it works well.

Yeah, that's one of the big reasons I said that there was a good chance neither of those mics was the best option for many people. There are just so many great options these days, and some of them are far less expensive than these.

@@bigtb1717 It was a great comparative review (as usual), but for us noobs, that is a suitcase of money when starting, so suggestion, a review of entry level mics might be good.
BTW, I purchased a Pyle PDMIC 58 based on your review of a couple months ago. Keep the great content coming: it is all interesting.

Thanks. I'm actually working on a couple reviews of mics that aren't nearly as inexpensive as the PDMIC 58, but far less than the SM7B/81
