How can we live in harmony with nature? How can we co-create abundance, diversity, and health? For me, no one has answered these questions more definitively and conclusively than Sepp Holzer has with his life’s work.
Sepp created a mountainside paradise in the coldest part of Austria, on land that was thought to only be useful for conifer monoculture forestry, animal grazing, and a bit of grain. Countless times along the way he encountered resistance from local authorities. He was fined for planting fruit trees, fined for creating terraces, fined for holding water on his land.
Yet from a lifetime of communicating with nature he knew in his heart that what he was doing was right. He knew he was following the true laws of the landscape, the laws of nature rather than the laws of man. Through tremendous civil courage, tenacity, and his whole family helping at each step along the way, he persisted.
As for his vision for his own landscape? It has become the most remarkable farm I have ever experienced. A huge variety of crops grow every year with much less work and effort than more conventional approaches. They are able to follow the seasons and years, using this diversity to their benefit. If it’s an unusually hot or cold, wet or dry season, some things don’t do well, but others have a bumper crop. There is ample productivity throughout the year and between years through natural diversity.
72 interconnected ponds and water bodies are spread throughout the 45 hectares providing abundant water and life. This productivity does not just benefit their agricultural systems, but also their fellow creatures within their ecosystem. There is plenty for the wildlife and insects as well, providing an eco-oasis in what is otherwise a pine monoculture desert.
This was Sepp’s first project, the Krameterhof. It has become a place of such lore that some people call it the garden of Eden on Earth. Sepp has also implemented this vision on projects around the world. Throughout Europe, the Americas (North and South), Asia and Africa Sepp helped guide people through projects on their own landscapes.

I saw a film on his work in 2004, and at age 40, I launched into the world to learn Permaculture! I am so grateful for his sanity, inspiration, clarity and beautiful artistry seen on his land, in the mutually beneficial loving relationships with all life there. I am grateful to be moving to Scotland to live this!
Bless you forever, Sepp and Family and Land, and those little earthworms wearing shoes.
I am happy to put myself in their little earthworm shoes, and empathize!

This is so inspiring! I've been wanting to connect with people who understand what Sepp is talking about. This is my dream life.
Please film more of Sepp and his philosophy! It's also good to hear my fathers language too.
Thanks so much Zach and team.

I have been thinking about Sepp lately, and now finally some new film of him 🙌🏻 hope there is more to come. Met him on a course held at Tamera in Portugal in 2010. Really hope more content following up on his work is made.

There is a LOT more to come here. We will be releasing a whole film about Sepp this fall, exclusively on the Water Stories community platform. community.waterstories.com/

@@Water_Stories That makes me very happy and excited to know. So happy to see Sepp healthy and strong as ever. His message and example is the one closest to my heart. Were I a ruler I would allocate Sepp trillions to manage and design plans for every country in the 🌎. No need to wait for that, your plans and intentions are on point and the way to go.

@@Water_Stories guys I love to have finally come upon your platform! One thing I can't help but ask is why you make such content exlusive to the Water Stories communiy? I've been trying to tell my friends all about your water heroes and even though they are all very much into nature and sustainabilty they didn't pass that entry barrier (creating an account at water stories) :(
So they still don't understand what impressive results people in the world are actually able to achieve...
Anyway, I'll be part of the community for sure!

@@captnclint5788 How do people not "pass" joining the community?

    • @captnclint5788
      @captnclint5788 Год назад +1

@@claireandersongrahamkeller2744 Well, I'm surprised myself, but even for my friends who are deeply ecologically interested, it seems to be too much to ask for to create an account on your website in order to watch those exclusive videos. I'm not saying that joining the community is not possible. I'm saying that making that sort of video content available to everyone on youtube would increase your impact a lot. People that are very interested would still be checking out your website/community and might even purchase courses.
But showing the general public what's actually possibly and thereby inspire them should be as easy to access as possible.
And don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Water Stories. It's just that I keep telling people to watch your videos and unfortunately they don't because they don't want to sign up on your website :(

Also, interesting that Sepp throws green plant matter in the water. His system must be able to handle an immense amount of nutrient load! Would love to learn more about this.
