How many times have you been blown away by one of your favorite players' solos and then find yourself wondering why you don't have those 'notes' on your own fretboard? Well, of course we have those notes on our guitars -- we just need to learn how to play the right notes, at the right time. Sweet Notes to the rescue!
Robbie's developed his Sweet Notes approach over many years of study and application on the stage and in the studio. "The essence of the Sweet Notes approach is the chord/scale relationship and knowing which notes to target as resolution points when we are soloing. For example; playing a G major scale (G, A, B, C, D, E and F#) over a G chord is really solid advice but then why do the A, C, E and F# notes sound weak when we end a run on them? Because they are not as strong as the notes that make up the G chord itself (G - B -- D), which are the ideal resolution points for lines within an improvisation."
Robbie's definition of a 'sweet note' is a note that is found both in the scale being played, and also in the chord that the scale is being played over (AKA chord tones or arpeggios). Just learning how to identify and target those sweet notes as resolution points, will singularly take your improvisations from B&W to color. But there's so much more to dig in to.
The Sweet Notes approach can be applied to all genres of music and is designed to guide, inspire and push your capabilities as a guitarist regardless of your level and playing ability. Put your time in with the course and Sweet Notes will prepare you to improvise over any chord changes, and progression, and across any style of music.

I am a intermediate guitarist who has been playing about 5 years. These are by far the best lessons on youtube for where im at on the guitar. I think your concepts are spot on in the form you teach them. You blow nextlevelguitar, dolphinstreet, etc out of the water! l
I just lay down the chords with the loop pedal and take off...rock on

I really Rob's playing style in the beginning of the video.
Does Rob have intermediate to expert lessons to illustrate techniques to get that momentum and phrasing for effective soloing?

He's a good teacher but not keen on this type of guitar playing as it lacks balls. Of course, not all electric guitar has to be ball-out.

Not much rocking about this intro solo, it's actually weak and if I heard that in the radio I'd turn it off in disgust.

The purpose is to understand how much chord tones are important for bulding a strong melody with sense... He is not teaching the solo of the year ....Knowledge is power.

+vodoo57 alessio but too much knowledge often looses the spirit of the electric guitar. Most of our best rock guitar music is from the last when players played the axe with far less knowledge then the kids have these days. Too much knowledge can make you a flash poor clone of Vai and many others lost in exotic scales and fancy modes.

+Andrew Watt I definitly understand what you mean but you know only 1/1000 guitar player will be able to play the Stairway to Heaven solo although it is a very basic minor pentatonic constructed solo... This is a gift . For us , we need to practice, to copy, to understand music as much as we can and hope to get better... I dream i wake up and play an epic guitar solo but ...i only dream! Cheers!

+vodoo57 alessio but whe you say epic you are reminding me of prog rock and that genre turned off millions and sort of led people to punk. Those self-indulgent solos from masters of the axe became yawn-fests with endless modes and melody lost. The blues masters didn't need to know everything there is to know about the guitar to pour out there heart and soul and memorise crowds. Guitarist are getting technically better the ever but is guitar music getting better? No chance. If you learn to much on the guitar, you'll probably end up just teaching it online and pontificating about it for years as you forgot to join a band when you were young and have some fun. I'd rather go down the Slash route - minus the drug addictions - and play cool fast hard rock then worship modes, arpegios, over the neck tapping, whammy bar abuse and ten minute solos that end up being tai me, sterilised passionless rock or basically mode repetition.
