I've lived in the desert my entire life (Las Vegas 17 years, then to phoenix for 3ish, then back in Vegas now. Almost 25. You have been such a big inspiration to turn my life around when I had no job and living in a motel with my dog. I paid for weeks of motel living with credit cards and food with credit cards... when I finally found a place and work within a week of eachother after living in a motel for almost 3 months.. I set on a path to rebuild... now I currently have a new car, 1 used as a project/show truck, an apartment, dog is healthy, I'm healthy, I'm in management after less than 1 year of being a mechanic and still soaring to new heights including financially with less than $100 of cc debt recurring and a personal loan for $6000 (before all that) paid off... idk if you read comments or care.. but I would love to have a chance to meet you since you're now in the best state and best town. Food for thought: Remember that California versus the other states are the way they are because of their fiscal policy. When people move out from California, they should consider a change to their policy mindset. If people moving out from California want to keep their old ideals, they need to remember that it comes at a very high cost. A large part of these ideals and fiscal policies are driven by the voters. Some would argue that how one votes can impact fiscal policy.
Yep, California has a huge wealth gap issue. As usual, California is just a little ahead of the curve, but as you see more Tesla's and Peloton's pop up in your area, watch out for the wealth gap issue to rear it's head in your neighborhood. You'll see the rich Californian's taking their wealth out of state to avoid the taxes. They'll take their wealth "creation" businesses to your area and enhance the wealth gap. For example, if a wealthy real estate investor leaves LA and heads to, say, NV, they will gradually pull local wealth up to the top. They'll outbid local investors, raise prices, and then rent those properties back to locals at higher than current market prices. In summary, if you hate what you see in California, you might actually hate capitalism. Because what it does, in the end, is push all the wealth to the very top, leaving the vast majority broke and destitute.

PA. Most things don’t require the actual dmv. Online, independent companies attached to the state. When you go to the dmv it’s a ghost town, walk right up. Pre COVID. Moved to Florida. Stupid line. Took 90 minutes for DL. I feel bad for the states where you have to go in for every little thing.
Since you are keeping your rentals in LA, your experience with long distance property management would be great! I know you experimented with one home in the past, but multiple homes hours away is something I would love to hear about.

@@GrahamStephan I made several trips to the DMV even on Saturday and they chased me away because I was out of state, than Christmas came along, and guess what no lines, everyone Christmas shopping and there was no line, but that same guy came by and said DMV was not taking out of state people. The next day I was third in line got in, but forgot a piece of paper work and had to come back, I met the guy telling me DMV wasn't taking out of state people and I told him I forgot a piece of paper work from yesterday and he let me in. I made it, sure was cold.
Which means that everyone else living in the state of poverty thinks it's the social norm and widely accepted. To actually take the steps to deviate from that norm would indicate to everyone else that you think you're special, don't want to be with them, and oddly enough BAD for not wanting to accept what is normal to "everyone". They will feel butt hurt and may even attack you for it all the while you're just trying to escape the herd mentality of poor people. After everything is said and done, being "that person" who breaks out of the chain of poverty or whatever established matrix system/culture is no easy task.

Grew up in vegas. It’s fantastic. Nobody understands how “easy” and cheap it is to live there. The lifestyle is incredible. 15 minutes away from some of the best hotels, casinos and restaurants in the world is a suburban paradise where many people raise families. Been there, done that, thirty five years ago when we moved from New Jersey to Virginia. Our property tax in NJ was $2500 a year in 1985. It took 35 years for the local property tax here in VA to get to the $2000 per year level and we get much more for the money. We still miss a lot of things about NJ but we're glad we left.

People have only been moving there because of the weather and the famous people, but there's a price limit to that before people start to wise up to the fact that neither of those things is worth the crazy cost of living.

I related to this video big time, I was living in Seattle. I could barely afford a studio apartment, I felt suffocated all the time. The homeless crisis is just awful. So I packed up and moved to Oklahoma City. While I love the lower cost of living, I plan to move to Dallas to fit more of my lifestyle. Honestly uprooting out of a state I grew up in was a culture shock, but it's one of the best decisions I've made. I'm glad you are enjoying the new lifestyle!

I’m originally from Northern California and moved to southern Utah 6 years ago and it has been growing since. This last year has been pushing more and more to move to this area because of covid. The natives hate the idea of growing southern Utah into a bigger area, but what are they going to do? 🤷🏼♂️

He quickly realized that he could rent it out and when he wanted to retreat he too rented in Colorado. So you could do that in California. And when you what to check on you property you could rent a motel as a tax deduction.

Make sure to drink lots of water during the summers, dehydration headaches are pretty common for new residents.

The next day I was third in line got in, but forgot a piece of paper work and had to come back, I met the guy telling me DMV wasn't taking out of state people and I told him I forgot a piece of paper work from yesterday and he let me in. These big, congested cities with long lines and high taxes make people miserable. I didn't realize how bad it was until I left.

Been there, done that, thirty five years ago when we moved from New Jersey to Virginia. Our property tax in NJ was $2500 a year in 1985. It took 35 years for the local property tax here in VA to get to the $2000 per year level and we get much more for the money.
We still miss a lot of things about NJ but we're glad we left.
Please make sure you consider the politicians and polices that led to leaving CA. Don’t perpetuate that madness in LV..

I related to this video big time, I was living in Seattle. I could barely afford a studio apartment, I felt suffocated all the time. The homeless crisis is just awful. So I packed up and moved to Oklahoma City. While I love the lower cost of living, I plan to move to Dallas to fit more of my lifestyle. Honestly uprooting out of a state I grew up in was a culture shock, but it's one of the best decisions I've made. I'm glad you are enjoying the new lifestyle!

I’m originally from Northern California and moved to southern Utah 6 years ago and it has been growing since. This last year has been pushing more and more to move to this area because of covid. Well if more people move, more taxes are being collected in other areas that are taxed. That being if the majority moving there have above living wages.
new developments have tons of subsidies and cost very little for the city. but in 10 or 15 years the city will need to repair everything and find out they have not been collecting taxes.
The republicans kept taxes low in Nevada and now it's barely flipped blue this year due to new residents from California. Democrats raise taxes. Don't ruin one state and move to another and make the same mistakes.

I lived here for 34 years, and i adjusted fine... Las Vegas is too cool for me to care about the heat... Don't forget to vist Mount Charleston - both sides, Red Rock Canyon - especially Blue Diamond the village, and eat at Cottonwood Station restaurant (reservation required!) and other fun places around... 😊🌷
The great thing about being in the military is that I'm so used to picking up and moving every few years. I don't think I could stay put in one place for more than 3-4 years!

Graham, A friend of mine bought a place in Winter Park Co. He wanted a place to have to retreat to. He quickly realized that he could rent it out and when he wanted to retreat he too rented in Colorado. So you could do that in California. And when you what to check on you property you could rent a motel as a tax deduction.
