Lance Stephenson Is NOT Crazy! His Stunted Growth Story Is Though

  • In high school, Lance Stephenson was a top prospect, usually compared to Lebron James. Entering high school some even said he'd be better than James. By mid season at Cincinnati, those predictions were clearly a mistake seeing as it was clear he still had a few things to work on. One thing for sure is that no one expected him to be taken in the second round, or his career to go the way it did. He's still was a solid NBA player, but a few things happened that took that away. Here's what they were. Lance Stephenson Stunted Growth.

In my personal opinion it will have to be leaving the pacers the first time & also another one will have to be him leaving College after one year (Which I don’t have a problem with but I don’t have a problem with). But the reason why I said him leaving college early is because maybe if he would’ve stayed for one more year or maybe two to elevate his game some then maybe he would’ve had a longer NBA career but hey he definitely was Fun to watch & had a solid NBA career... 🤟🏾💯

I truly believe his biggest mistake was the 4th stunt. The fact he left the one team that not only used his right but believed in him enough to give that big of a extension, says a lot about not only him but his agent.

Stunt 5: as a Pacers fan, I always believed that Lance should have been a full-time big point guard. He was the only guy on the team with anything resembling court vision and the offense flowed better with the ball in his hands (when he didn't go full Lance and take a contested pull-up out of nowhere). George Hill was not, and has never been a point guard. Always an undersized 2 with minimal vision and no ability at all to drive and kick. Lance could also play a lil bully ball in the post against smaller 1s. He would have made a few all-star teams if he'd stayed in Indiana and run the point (and I might have lost less bets to Heat fans).

Salute to you JCSG for featuring this brother and giving us an additional SG for our entertainment. I loved LS on those Pacer's teams. He really gave the fangs to the only team in the East who could've conceivably beaten Bron in his prime, which was something PG didn't even seem capable of despite being the guy there in Indy.
I remember taking notice of Lance after he led the league in triple doubles either in 13 or 14 with iirc - shows you how long ago that was if he could lead the NBA in TDs with only 5.
It was sad seeing him leave Indiana when that was the only team that took a chance on him to let him become what he was. It's even sadder to realize their window was only really two years.
I think what i cherish most about him was his nigh-incomparable handle in his era. My God. And then when Filayyy came out and did his thing, Lance's game was just fodder for him lol. Salute Lance Stephenson. I hope he's doing well.

As a Pacers fan, I agree. His BIGGEST mistake was leaving Indiana. He literally turned down more money and a longer deal in an offseason that would see PG go down with injury and LeBron leaving the Heat. If he stays and PG doesn’t get hurt, the Pacers probably make the finals that year. I hate seeing guys from NYC with so much talent all make bad decisions and never live up to the hype. I agree with Lance leaving Indiana that stunted his growth but I think Lance is a good fit as a 2 guard or point, because of his ball handling ability and he has good quickness, so I think size wasn't really an issue that stunted his growth. He's a borderline all star when given playing time. With him, it is his attitude and his antics that rubs the coaches and teammates the wrong way, which made him into a journeyman.

If you can't win games the least you can do is sell tickets. Win or lose I think people enjoyed watching Lance play. I know I did.

I’ve always thought Lance should be a primary 1 due to his play making ability. At point he could slash and make all the flashy passes. Great height for the position.

Sign lance now ! We barely can fill out a goddamn starting lineup with all of the injuries! Best highlight reel of any NBA player on RUclips hands-down!

Damn. Did they release Lance right before the Lakers won a ring? Their whole bench was problematic/knuckleheads, but they only dropped Lance?

I support stunt 4. On the fence with the other stunts. He will be back in the League the next FULL season. I think he fit well in L.A. luv Lance but he has to mature.

Very disappointing career...he went from the bench player who got choked out by Juwan Howard to almost leading the league in triple doubles. I hate whoever advised him to turn down that contract extension from Indiana. Great video bro👊🏿
