+Johnnie Silfies Thats awesome Johnnie and I love your name -she must have been cool! My Kids and I watch the Series "Granite Flats" on Netflix as good family time and this is the theme song. Great my 6 n 8 year old can watch a good ol' days film and see how times were when we didnt have the fears and odd balls produced by all these video games mentioned here. Peace out girl !
+picturejan You literally just said :that's awesome" to her grieving about her mother....and then went on to talk about nonsense without offering any sort of condolences.
+Kecoroe no keco I was not being insensitive to her feelings. But I do think she is awesome as a daughter to love her mom so much and candid to tell us all of her heart. A song can take us back to many emotions. . funny though no mention to the gamers who went past as yourself to mention a thing or about the great song we came in for.
It doesn't actually indicate authenticity, it indicates poor recording and transfer. You can even watch things from the 60's in HD with fairly good audio.
This is the best version on YT.. It sounds like it a recording from deep space, picked up decades later on a transistor radio tuned to a dead channel. The black and white celestial backdrop and the ghostly form of Skeeter just enhance the sense of the uncanny. Many thanks for sharing this.
Yep, if you grew up in the’60s, this was everyday life. It didn’t matter that it was in black and white, nobody but the rich people had color tv. I wish I could go back to those days. Simple times.
I am a young woman of today's generation, and I could tell you right now that if I were a singer today, I would gladly put a dress on to do it! I think that she looks very lovely. I love everything about this video! No one tried to touch it up or make it sound any better. To me, it sounds like we're sitting in the family room in the 1960s around some old Philco or Zenith or some other radio listening to this or around the old black and white TV watching this in real time. I absolutly love it!
Hm, this one maybe? ruclips.net/video/K7nWr31_RXA/видео.html Some third parties are not so forgiving and block certain video's. Don't have that problem yet on my channel.
I'd like to thank my grandmother for drilling this wonderful piece of music in my brain by playing it almost everyday during my childhood. God bless you for more years in this world grandma.
Such a clasically beautiful song. So sad yet so beautiful. I remember singing along as a child and now singing along as an adult. Some things, gladly, never change ☺
Just one of the saddest songs, I've heard, but so beautiful. I was little bittyy wee girl of 6 when this was released (or at least hit the charts in South Africa!!)
I started singing this song out of the blue. I remembered the beat and a few verses. I went back in time for a moment. My sisters must have played this song over and over, I have no idea how old I was. They reached out from heaven, and I had a wonderful dance with my Poodle Poyka. I felt peace.
That hair! **My mom used to sing just the first line of this every morning to wake me up. She had a great love of showtunes and 1960's musicals as well, and would sometimes sing a line at random when talking would've done just as well- e.g., "There's Always.. Tomorrow..." It used to annoy the hell outta me, but now I realize how special this was and that I was truly blessed.
I love her voice. She is one of the best female singers we will ever see. ❤❤❤Skeeter❤❤❤ One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. A beautiful singer inside and out.
I grew up on music like this, thanks to my mom. I don't care how someone came across this...music was so great back then...at least a new generation has heard it and can appreciate it again.
So relevant to me today. Talking to my little brother who couldn't understand why, when his friend killed himself, the world just kept going. It's all I could think of as I comforted him.
I lost my dog this week to cancer and this song said exactly how I'm feeling right now. Everyone and everything around me is normal, but my heart's broken. I saved her from a puppy mill and she was never out of my sight for all 14 years. She didn't want toys. She just always wanted to be near me. We didn't even know she had cancer. I took her to the vet because she was coughing and it had taken over all her organs. They said one of her medications had made it progress slower. I keep reaching over to pet her. Tears...
i love that the sound is so choppy and high pitched here... this makes me feel like i'm living the 60's, watching it in my living room. only it's on my laptop. on the internet. so thanks for that :)
Just finished watching a drama called TOO CLOSE on ITV in England tonight. So that's brought me to listen to Skeeter once more! Proper Sound Song and Singer!!🥰💞💕🤗
Skeeter davis ,another fabulous singer from back in the sixtes.love this song so much ,brings back memories.she sings this beautiful song like no other can, just so unforgetable.thank you for this video nanette.
I love how these old songs that I remember from my "childhood" through college and beyond have made their way into current culture. I caught this one the other day from Under the Dome. I never knew the singer's name so thanks for the info!
I heard this song yesterday for the first time in many, many years, on a country music RUclips channel that I'm subscribed to. They'll upload a couple hours worth of songs from time to time...well this song was the first one they played, but there were only pictures of a few of the many artists on the "thumbnail" (none of them female), and there were no songs/artists listed in the description... I thought for sure my wife would know who sang this song, but surprisingly she did not! Well it was in my head all day at work! Anyway, when I typed some of the lyrics into an internet search and immediately found it!! I love this song so much!
For those of you complaining about all the views coming in from Fallout 4... You should be happy that such a great song like this is getting so much recognition, rather than complaining about all of the fans from the game "polluting" the comment section. I don't get people sometimes :|
Forever a 2000 Baby but I’ll forever thankful for my dad exposing me to such tranquil beautiful tunes of the vintage days, thanks eternals i didn’t forget about you either.
OMG!!! I'm old enough that I SOOO remember this, and Skeeters voice, I guess you could say that she just readied me for a life of heartbreak, from the age of 7, I had already had my heart broken by Skeeter Davis....
In the summer of 1978, my late wife and I attended the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium. Skeeter Davis was there that evening and of course she sang “The End of the World. My wife Karen said goodbye a little over two years age, the night before the ravages of cancer took her from me. We both loved Skeeter Davis and “The End of the World”, I never dreamed that I would loose Karen and when I hear this song, it reminds me how my world ended when God called Karen Home. But there’s good news, I’ll see her again one day and she won’t be suffering!
Right now I am so lonesome and miserable and depressed I haven't had a full night sleep and My sister is the one who asked for help with this liquor but I need help too
I've always loved this song whenever I heard it on an oldies station. I was delightfully surprised when I heard it play in Fallout 4 since it's a 60s song and most of the previous Fallout songs were from the 1940s. This and 'heartaches by the number' from NV were the two songs I already knew from before playing the games. 60s thru 80s had to be the best period for music imo.
I've been utterly in love with this song since Girl, Interrupted
Thanks, now I know where I heard this song before 😊
BEAUTIFUL
fr
SAAAAAMMMME!!!!!❤ Every time I hear it, I see Daisy's face. I've loved that movie since it came out in 1999! I watch the DVD often.
same. and now i lost my best friend and this is exactly how i feel. always
My mom passed away in 2014 and she liked this song i cry my eye's out and think of her every time i hear it. I miss you mom
She will always be with you. In your heart, and in your mind. Dont give up hope on life ;)

Ugh. just gotta love that old recording quality that adds in that extra authenticity. That subtle static sound on these old songs, love it.

Honestly, to me it adds an eerie sort of quality to the sound of the music. I really adore it tbh.
I only see facts
@Berdeh Well, I feel pretty real right now.
Only 2077 kids will remember.
If country music was still like this, I would probably be a big fan
This is literally what I just said.

Haha, yeah, it's pretty good. Was just listening at the Red Rocket Truck Stop.
Sarken You just started playing? :)
The AfterLife Nah, been playing since 2012, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and now Fallout 4.
The AfterLife If you mean if I just started playing 4, no, since December last year. :)
Travis from Diamond Radio brought me here.
Sad but true :D
+Nina Fischer How's it sad?
+The duke of Canada maybe because it was a video game that brought us here, although I fail to see the sad in that too :D
The Duke of Canada it's sad because I've never heard that song before playing fallout.
+Nina Marleen really a smash hit back when times were easier. I was 18.
An absolute masterpiece; one of my favourite Fallout songs!
Haha right! That’s what brung me here lol

That’s what brought me here too

This sound tends to play best on an actual record player. The older the better! There's no sound like a phonograph.
My husband of 35 yrs passed two yrs ago and for some reason this song won t leave me. I never used to listen to it. Makes me cry.
Sorry for your loss Donna
x.
Hope you're doing okay today, Donna.
He is in your head playing it for you. His world stopped when he left you. Think of it this way, he misses you as much as you do ❤
This song was on granite flats and i instantly fell in love :)
Rebekah vandenhole YES! I love it. And the woman who sings it on GF sings it so much better. Perfect to harmonize with.
