There will never be another Skeeter Davis in our time. She was simple, unique and so good in the art. Her songs were and still golden till now, so it remains.
Skeeter was a great lady. Singapore 1985 I got to meet her and we became friends . She came out to my ship for lunch had a great time. Years ago I had a chance to do a Grand Ole Opry show with several Nashville country artists. Among them was Skeeter Davis and she performed "The End of the World" as one of her song. Such a wonderful tune by an amazing recording artist! ❤
My favorite version, and Skeeter's plain old lovable! She's not a virtuosos, but she has an earnestness in her singing that sells the song to me every time.
Such a simple song and so very beautiful. Sung with kindness though albeit in a reflective mood of sadness for a love lost. Though it was a country song it became a huge 'crossover' hit by topping the pop charts as well. No one sang it like Skeeter Davis!
Just come across this song c/o UK ITV drama 'Too Close' - can't get it out of my head. A rare example of music and lyrics in perfect harmony. Really, it's the story of ALL of our lives, which is why it is so touching.
I PLAYED THIS SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND AND I BROKE UP WHEN I WAS 16, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD, I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT WASN'T BUT IT SEEMED LIKE IT AT THE TIME, KNOW WHAT I MEAN DON'T YOU!
yes of coarse when we are younger things like that are just so important and can hurt like hell, but life goes on and we can see that when we look back and remember the past.
I would imagine most men would. It happens but if you are lucky ( I was) someone else turns up who is faithful and wonderful . I have been married to her for 49 years now but I love that song.
This so emotional song makes me cry everytime I play it on my WURLITZER jukebox thinking of my past family 👪 and friends that are sadly gone. Skeetah had such a beautiful voice and talent.
When I watch these old videos of the great music and singers who are no longer with us it reminds me of Our mortality but actually they show we are never forgotten by someone and in the case of great singers they are always with us.
Very touching. Losing someone dear and loved, at any age, any time, any place, is heart wrenchingly painful and I thought extremely cruel! I often thought I'd rather to have "lost myself" than to lose a loved one, so that I don't feel the pain of loss!.

Skeeter Davis had a special magic that no-one else will ever come close to!
This song was released on my birthday in 1961. I know the end of the World is on the horizon but you never know until it happens so lets all keep our fingers and toes crossed...
We lived, and loved and learned my treat for you thanks for listening to my heart felt music 😎
I'm 17 and I love old songs, because it's pure❤️
I’m 74, and I couldn’t agree with you more, our time was the best !!
@@dalerash6285 I wish me and my girlfriend were born in that time🥺😭
@@anapinthesummer2706 The only down side, for my generation, was the Vietnam War, many of us were caught up in it, myself included !
@@dalerash6285 oh my god, I'm sorry sir🥺🥺🥺 I hope you are happy and healthy with your family 😭❤️
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Here in 2023, this is still a great song, full of heart, talent & soul! It may have come out in about 1962, but it still has plenty of meaning. Hope you still enjoy it. It helps to keep things in perspective. 🥰😎✌️
Played this song for my mother as she laid dying in the hospital. Thank you Skeeter. Much love
awww sad
A great song a great voice RIP Sweet Angel Mary Frances Penick AKA Skeeter Davis.
Best song I’ve ever listened to. ❤️
One of my "earworms"- one of the songs that I often find playing in my head. Such a beautiful song.
Such a simple song and so very beautiful. Sung with kindness though albeit in a reflective mood of sadness for a love lost. Though it was a country song it became a huge 'crossover' hit by topping the pop charts as well. No one sang it like Skeeter Davis!
This makes me think of being in the WRAC in Berlin X Scotty introduced me to Skeeter xx fabulous sing xx
20 years after her death, we remember Skeeter Davis. We miss you, Skeet. RIP.💔🙏🏻
Just come across this song c/o UK ITV drama 'Too Close' - can't get it out of my head. A rare example of music and lyrics in perfect harmony. Really, it's the story of ALL of our lives, which is why it is so touching.
Exactly the same I just watched too close aswell . First time I had heard this song and I love it.
Same here, 👍👍👍👍👍
I PLAYED THIS SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND AND I BROKE UP WHEN I WAS 16, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD, I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT WASN'T BUT IT SEEMED LIKE IT AT THE TIME, KNOW WHAT I MEAN DON'T YOU!
yes....
@@Quartzsite-0901 Been there, done it, have the t shirt yes I most certainly know how you felt.
yes of coarse when we are younger things like that are just so important and can hurt like hell, but life goes on and we can see that when we look back and remember the past.
@@brucewayne7838 WE can remember all the good times, you really never stop loving the people in our lives, we will never forget them.
I first heard this song 1963 I was 16 what's not to love here
This song chokes me as it always reminds of my son who has passed to eternal life
I am so sorry to hear and feel your pain about losing your wife, but with this song and your prayers should help you shed once less tear.
Maravilhosa!!!
2024, !!!
Still sing this wonderful song
When I watch these old videos of the great music and singers who are no longer with us it reminds me of
Our mortality but actually they show we are never forgotten by someone and in the case of great singers they are always with us.
Very touching. Losing someone dear and loved, at any age, any time, any place, is heart wrenchingly painful and I thought extremely cruel! I often thought I'd rather to have "lost myself" than to lose a loved one, so that I don't feel the pain of loss!.
David I lost my fiancé this February but I’m grateful for the time I had!
😊😊I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves the song but when last did you play it.
Oh well, I'm so sorry😔 about your loss?
