It's interesting how matches involving Gauff used to always be full (compare the crowd in the 4th round match versus the quarter-final with Jabeur), mainly because the media had already hyped her up as the next all-time great so people wanted to get a glimpse of the future. You could even hear the crowd going crazy for her, and giving Kenin a smattering of polite applause when she won a point.
Good for her, but she’s won like 3 matches since then. Another case of burnout, too much pressure and expectation following a big result. It’s Bouchard, Andreescu, Vaidisova etc all over again.
Kenin was invincible and beautiful in this tournament. I want her to do her best from now on.🎉

Well, and the media was pretty much right. Gauff won a major before turning 20 and has been a consistent top 10 player for 3 years running.
This is the proof that mentality plays a big role in modern life, let alone sports - tennis
The most impressive part is learning that Martina Trevisan could play tennis 🎾 without making horrible grunts 😮
Head UP!
She lost in the first round! Why the comments about something that transpired 4 yrs. Ago!!!!

Shock is the name of the game in the WTA. There are no top players, anybody can win.
lolol
Not recently, Vondrousova is the only fluke one in a few years and at least she had played a final before.
She's elininated the grunting from her game, hasn't she?
sorry but she a one hit wonder...
