One of the many great historical cities in the U.S., I had family that use to live there, amazing food, people, rich in history, Spanish moss trees, sabal palms and so much more, love from a Virginian and thank you Mr.Johnson for your videos you have no idea how much I love your channel:). I reckon I’ll visit this lovely city again in the near future:).
Nice, you came to my home town. Got some nice views of Downtown Savannah too. Spring is the most beautiful time of the year around here. The azaleas bloom & the weather is normally pleasant. The only downfall would be the pollen. Hope you come back soon, & relax. We specialize in hospitality!
I really appreciate that you drove through some of our less visited squares. So many people stick to the Bull/Abercorn area and don't enjoy the more residential squares on the outer edges of downtown.
Nick, you’re finally showing a video of my stomping grounds. I am in Savannah once or twice a year for fun or romantic getaways with my wife. Funny story - I booked a B&B on one of the historic squares a few years back planning to propose to my then girlfriend. I got down on one knee asked her to marry me, and of course she said yes. We hugged and kissed and looked over to the other side of the Square where a carriage was pulling up. A dude gets out with his girlfriend, gets down on one knee, and proposes to her. Weird, right? In all of my life I’ve only may be seen one other proposal yet here was one happening 60 seconds after I did it. I bet that happens often in Savannah, But the same square at the same time?
Savannah is pretty awesome, but between SCAD buying everything not nailed down and Air B&B people housing is impossible to find and every year theres less and less availability. In 10 years I doubt there will be anyone living north of 37th street it'll probably all be short term rentals and academic buildings. The city had talked about imposing new regulations on short term housing. Hope it goes through. I get it's a historic/tourist city but people are still trying to live there. The locals are a part of what makes Savannah awesome
Thanks for posting! I was visiting Savannah at pretty much the same exact time! It's nice seeing a video of the city from the same time I was there. I stopped in on 1/3 for lunch at Moon River, walked around, went to Tubby's for dinner, then left for St. Augustine for a couple days. I was back in Savannah 1/6-1/10. I love it there! I am working on moving there. Hopefully in a couple weeks.
Driving our parents car home from Florida we spent the night in Savannah...April 2020. Most everything was shut down. We stayed at a hotel on the river, walked for miles on almost empty streets and enjoyed take out from one of the very few open restaurants. Best memory of 2020.
Thanks for uploading this video. I went to Savannah a few years ago for a quick work trip. Unfortunately, I only had a night to check out the city. It’s beautiful and I hope to make it back.
@@mrbrainchild7637 yeah I can understand that the schools there were ok depending on what school you went to like Windsor forest high school it was not that bad
Wow - what a beautiful ride! I love seeing those huge Live Oaks growing right along those residential streets. You'd think they couldn't fit - but they do! What music is playing in the background?
Great video of West, East & River Streets. Magical place. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was filmed in Savannah which captured the underlying mystery of this city.
I love Savannah! Been there many times, and walked to all 22 squares. Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil is what originally sparked my interest. After reading that book, I just had to go. I was hooked after my first visit!
I am originally from Columbus, GA and consider the Savannah area a step 🚶♂️ up in many ways. Before the pandemic, millions of tourists were visiting and unlike Columbus, it didn't need any fancy rides or so-called attractions just history, the culture, and the surrounding areas such as Tybee Island and Jekyll Island. I admit though Savannah is the first area I have ever seen where you have a nice block at one corner and go down the street and its third world 🌎. Beyond the good and bad, Savannah is historically and financially important to Georgia and I personally respect the city alot.
The city was designed very specifically. In the old plans, only certain lots were allowed for commercial, civid, and religious services. The lots were small and they don't have parking. Now commercial areas are more mixed and can operate at any block or road.
Sure does look pretty..and near perfect weather in the middle of winter too, wow! Currently in the northeast, born and raised here. Bf is trying to persuade me to move to GA, this is one of the cities we're looking at. Unfortunately I'm not completely sold on moving this far from home. If anyone has any insight to the region, I'd really appreciate it! Great shots you captured, Nick!
It's nice. Not as fast as atlanta but not slow either. There are beautiful neighborhoods but like anywhere else, it definitely has high crime areas. Overall the people are nice and there are things to do. It has an international airport so a flight to your hometown shouldn't be an issue.

For those who are against "gentrification", this city was a ghetto until about the mid 1960s when things started to change. Savannah used to be called "the beautiful lady with the dirty face." They used to have a driving tour of the city because it wasn't yet the kind of city you would want to walk around in. A lot of money has been spent here by people who restored these beautiful homes.
