i have one, was my grandfathers from 1970 he bought new from sears then passed onto my dad, my mom blew it up pouring straight gas in it so it sat in the shed for 20 years and my father forgot about it and gave it to me at age 21 when he found it cleaning the shed out along with an old ryobi 701r. i had torn down the entire lawnboy engine, honed the cylinder to smooth out the scores and put in new seals new aftermarket piston and i still use it today at 30 years old. cool motor but i tell my mom to stay away from it lmao
Outstanding! I've watched a few engine tear down videos and it doesn't seem toooo bad, I know to be a good owner I should do at least the crank seals with this one. Nice to hear yours is still in the family and back on the road, er, lawn!
One of the few Lawn Boys without the offset front wheel. If you had side discharge, two stroke smell wouldn’t be so bad. You can sand the head maybe and boost compression for easier starting.
I know right! Used to seeing them with the staggered wheels. One day I'll get another one, maybe a proper vintage one or the late 90s Duraforce 6.5hp commercial grade model
i also got one recently it had a very dirty carburator no spark and a leaking fuel tank i fixed all of that and its the best mower i ever had its really powerful
If the smoke and smell is too much try using Lucas Land and Sea oil. That's what I use on my Lawn boys No smoke or odors. The mix ratio is 32:1 on that mower.

Honestly, I love this unit's character. Thank you for loving it and putting it to good use.
It is definitely one of a kind!
Mowed with one growing up, it’s still in use 40 years later.
Love to hear it!
Same here, mine was my grandfathers, then dad's, now mine😂

So now I'm over on Marketplace looking at vintage Lawnboys! 😆

I'm definitely open to trying a higher quality oil!
