You can just get windows 11 by windows update but you have to be in the windows insider program

The Screen that says 'hi ... getting things ready for you' is a fake waiting screen, you can exit it by pressing Ctrl Alt Del and using taskmgr to start explorer. I do it every time I set up a windows VM.
