Thanks for all the kind words! Please, tell me, would you like to see a longer test of this winch? I have some trees to pull out, there are also heavier ones than those in the movie, but I'm not sure if it will interest you. This Reminded me of the ‘Mortar’ mixer on a trailer I fabricated in the winter of 1977-78. I am a Polish American. I built the mixer out of used motorcycle sprockets, a coal furnace ‘stoker’ gear box, an old fuel oil tank and a trailer built on an old 1940’s era car axle, rims and tires. I then went in the cement block and brick laying business. The old homemade mixer ran daily until about 2002 ( still have it and plan to patch it up to run again ) .... Gary in Michigan U. S. A.
What a great homemade tool!!! I do a lot of tree work and I am also a metal fabricator. I have never thought of doing this. Im in my garage now doing what this man does. Thank you for your inspirating.
I was in Krakow this winter, first time in Poland, wonderful country and you are one of the great Poles. Wanted to find some classic boots like everyone wore in Poland a hundred years ago but couldn't find any. You should have some to replace your trainers. Poles need to start making their traditional boots again... sorry off topic, great film, best wishes from Norway
If you clip a sheet metal 'sled' to the rope just in front of the log, your winch will pull the front of log onto the sled so it won't dig into the earth and cause problems. Nice job and thanks for another great video.
Nice winch. I'm guessing its heavy, but still portable and very handy. I'm thinking the anchour mount may need repositionoing to a better alignment with the spool. Nice touch with matching the welding of the cable spool to the music. :)
Very nice build. I have the 4 stroke capstain winch which can be difficult due to having to keep the winch level for oil reasons. As skilled as you are a bearing off the drum end and a attachment point would add to your pulling power and help the life of your ropes. Thanks for posting you have me thinking on making a design of my own.
Lots of comments saying just buy a winch, most of them seem to refer to an electric powered atv or off-road winch. You have to understand duty cycle. These electric winches and the batteries tied to them cannot work all day long like gas powered. He did a great job, these gas winches usually cost 2-3k. I’m sure he did it for a fraction. Nice work!
Completely loco thought and perfect manufacturing.it is always pleasant seeing people that squeeze the brain in order to achieve a goal and make their lives easier... just a thought i have in order to make the machine more solid.wouldn`t be better to support the axle of the drum in two points so not to tire the bearings of the gearbox?i know it won`t be easy to put the roap on the drum but... by the way the drum making is a super idea!thanks for teaching and sharing..very well done and a great bravo from Greece.thumbs up
Finally! A hack that makes some sense. Too small for anything I deal with though. I don't have a chainsaw to spare neither. I still like the idea. If I get a spare saw, and a reduction box, I'm just might build something like this. In the meantime, the truck or four wheeler can pull little logs like that in a fraction of the time. Nice metal working skills though. I learned something.
great job M.I.P. !! Suggestion, weld wide piece of angle at rear with hole either side so you can hammer through or screw in temporary ground anchors. Should help keep the winch reel at 90 degrees to the load.
You need to put something that the rope can go trough so that the winch can always point in the direction the object you are pulling to avoid the pulley to warp and it will last much longer. Great work !!!
Genialna maszyna!
Actually surprised not to see more chainsaw hacks. Chainsaws are pretty amazing in regards to power density. A good mid power chainsaw will easily output 6 hp. Amazing since it weighs less that 20 lbs. (even less without the bar and chain)
That's a great idea and I actually have that exact saw with a different brand name on it her in the states. I saw how it was turning when it pulls, maybe build a small frame coming from the base of the reduction box where it is pulling from and wrap it around to meet the front feet. Then have the securing strap pull from directly behind it to keep it from twisting like it does, I can see the drum portion being ripped off if it has a heavy load placed on it and the shafts portion is being pulled in a direction it was never meant to be pulled from. Just a suggestion and I hope to do a similar project myself, just looking for the right sized worm gear box for it.
I like the video. I see the wench turns sideways as you use it. I'd suggest you make a attachment for a trailer receiver on your 4wheeler. Make a plate for the wench to attach to. That plate would be welded to tubing that attaches to a trailer receiver on your 4wheeler. That tubing could be any legnth you decide and you could design it to be adjustable in height....so the wench is on the ground or higher as needed.
You da man! Very cool build. The reducing gearbox was a great score. I would love to find one of those lying around. Looks like you need to modify your anchor to get a straighter pull.
I like it, but if you pull a heavy weight,it will pull on the housing of the gear reducer, and break it. Have the output shaft of the worm reducer turn a stronger shaft supported on either side of the cable spool by strong bearings or pillow blocks. Very nice, Really like how you made the spool.
Many good ideas, good workmanship, I use many tap and dies made in Poland and very pleased with them. I like the channel but the music is too loud and nerve wracking. Good work keep it up,I'll keep watching. I cannot comment too often because on large screen no comments or like is possible.
Thanks for all the kind words!

test with a car
Muy bueno!!
Use a Pulley system, increase the pulling power.
I like it a lot! Yes, please more testing video *Made in Poland*
Yeah, definitly

Making this one requires very good technical thinking and understanding. Respect

Mateusz Piłat postawiłbym na przypadek😂😂😂
Marku moim zdaniem widać edycje koło 7:30 choć wcześniej rzeczywiście wygląda przypadkowo :)
ja zwciłem uwagę już jak oglądałem

Mate, this was an awesome build and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Keep up the great work!
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Great Video! Very well done.
Crazy amount of skill and knowledge shown in this video
A first class engineering project, many congratulations to you from Ireland.
AWSOME BUILD, Yes please could we see a short video of quite a heavy pull or lift with it.
Thanks again for the post and keep up the great work.
I really don't believe there is nothing this guy can't build!!! GREAT BUILD!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Super

Wonderful video. Inspiring to look over your shoulder in the work shop and to see you create.
Ingenius on the fly engineering!
Great ! Wonderful idea and very appreciated step-by-step video making! Tks NF
Impressive build there Bud....👍
Nice job! Satisfying when it turns out and you fabricated it yourself. Thanks for posting.
Awesome invention! Congrats!!!
Very nice job! Two pins driven into the ground may stabilize the winch.. very well made
👍 Danke fürs Hochladen!
👍 Thanks for uploading!
👍 Very good and beautiful, thank you!
Great as usual. Hope to see more projects with that lathe
If you move the anchor point so it's inline with the capstan spool, it won't go sideways when pulling. Otherwise, I think it's a great build!
Robb Archigian Also it needs 2 guides for the rope
Capstan, that's the word I was looking for. Was sitting here thinking, ok so it works like one of those yacht thingies.
Rope needs to roll onto drum from one side to stop a riding turn
@@andrew5792
Yeah that and it's written in the title.
@@svenc3338
And a couple more wraps of rope around that spool so it doesn't slip as much.

Awesome, great job
Now that's mechanical ability put to good use. What a super tool to take with you when you travel off-road.
Well done!

great creation love it. great video.
Great build, advanced level DIY
great job M.I.P. !! Suggestion, weld wide piece of angle at rear with hole either side so you can hammer through or screw in temporary ground anchors. Should help keep the winch reel at 90 degrees to the load.
what an excellent invention
Smart guy. It's great to have a technical mind.
Nice. Experience pays!
that's pretty cool job. i'll bet everybody that watches it searches for a worm gear. that's gnarly.
Very good Project. Cool Video. Thanks for this.
Good Men
Greetings from Nebraska USA. Very impressive! You sir are a highly skilled fabricator!
A great well thought out build.
very creative and innovative. Like your idea a lot. Nice build!
Great video. More of this.
Золотые руки! Как обычно - все отлично!
You need to put something that the rope can go trough so that the winch can always point in the direction the object you are pulling to avoid the pulley to warp and it will last much longer. Great work !!!
Good, real good!
Congratulations!
Brilliant! Can't say less.
interesting homemade set screws, great vid!
Your so smart!!!! Great job!!!!
Great work!
Should update the title to capstan winch. Not many videos on how to make them last I checked, and your setup is sweet. Awesome build!
Pretty damn cool, nice job!
+1 for timing the welds to the music!

Potrzeba matką wynalazku
Mistrzostwo świata!!!
Need to offset the anchor strap so it is inline with winch drum. Nice build.

Better then a small electric 12 v winch that i used on something similar , like it a lot
Excellent ingenuity
This tree would bring my dog as part of the training.
As always great video
You are the best with ever interesting ideas .
Great building dud
Nice build.
Sweet Video! I love the stuff I can learn from people like you. Great fabrication, cool concepts, Great Ideas! Keep up the good work!
Podoba mi się napis na stole warsztatowym, widać że patriota.
Robota pierwsza klasa, pozdrawiam.
Those big industrial worm gear drives seem cool but super expensive and like 50% efficiency
thanks very much a brilliant guy
please keep it up,
Could attach a felt wiper to the auto oiler to keep the chain lubed also. good build!
Great video sir !
✌ from 🇺🇸
Well done man, super machine, Bravo!!!
Good job bro 🤝
You are a real man..!!
-A craftsman.
Thanks for all the video’s.
Keep op the good work👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Just what I need, but way beyond the realms of most people’s skill set. Excellent result though, you e got some amazing ideas and skills keep it up 👍🏼

You really need to move the anchor point so it's on the same plane as the capstan. Aside from that, this was very cool!
alse der Hombre hats drauf beim konstruieren und verarbeiten....Hut ab!
When the world comes to an end, it will people like you that will start it up again. : )

Nice work!
Pretty bad ass. I think a second anchor to another tree would stabilize it easily.
Супер! Отличная Работа!
