Bought >100 blond duckies (mostly adults) from a kid who was tired of the hobby. Figured on selling some, but I’ve enjoyed them so much I’m in no hurry to see them go. No idea how many are now in the main bin, but seeing 1st graders, 5th graders etc. together is a lot of fun. My son got me started so it gives us something else to talk about. Thanks for this! 😃👍 Some of it I knew, but even that wasn’t organized like this video.
@@yutub561 Yes, I was able to work out something. I’m older, so the money is not AS big a deal. But it’s always a big deal. Got it white and red tigers, yetis, and a few more today. Pretty excited.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i really want to get rubber duckies but have been weary about it bc of the brood sizes and the cost so i don't want to spend 200 dollars and then not be able to keep them alive. this is so helpful and you've been so kind in explaining everything, i am genuinely so grateful, i very much appreciate it, that you SOSO much ❤️❤️❤️

@@juicesarthropods very happy (and a little anxious) to say i just ordered some!!!! can't wait to put this video into GREAT use !!! once again, thank you SO much, this video is the reason i felt confident enough to add duckies to my isopod keep!!
@@not_euthe I am so happy for you! And thank you so much for the compliment! This is truly all I ever wanted when making my RUclips videos - to help. Whether with care, confidence, or to decrease fear. So this truly makes me happy to hear, thank you!
Excellent informative video. What range of humidity are good? I have them as a pet in a terrarium with good ventilation, and humidity is 85% during the day and even more at night. I bought two mini fans and I turn it on to lower the humidity but I can’t find in internet what is the appropriate range for them. Also I live in California, and my home gets hot in those summer days. I read about putting ice packs inside the terrarium and I can lower the temperature in 3 degrees with a little one.
So I have around 50-60% humidity but honesty 70-mid 80s should be fine! Whats WAAAAY more crucial I have found is proportionate ventilation to humidity ratio, and ensuring proper moisture to avoid dessication. Whats the temps youre seeing in summer? Id avoid ice packs unless theyre maybe touching the outsides only because isopods are adorable idiots and will freeze to death on them without even knowing why haha
Thanks for the response. I’m in LA, here we could have over 90 degrees easily or even close to 100s. But this year looks like we will have between 70s-80s , fingers crossed 😄 I bought 6 rb and received them a week ago. They arrived alive. But noticed their colors are not that brighten like yours, some have the head color like a transparent yellow. Is this bad?
@@VLV07 So, not bad - but sometimes what happens is either the person either didnt add new genetics in for a prolonged period of time OR their conditions werent ideal. Give them some time, offer calcium through eggshells or cuttlebone and let me know if they improve in a month!
Hey, hello again. My duckies are doing very good. They like to chill out late at night. Mostly I saw 4-5 of them. And BIG NEWS, last night and today I saw two babies, they are 2mm long and their body is light orange. 😊
I would recommend anything with a decent ventilation. So anything you can either manually drill holes into the side and top of, or something that comes equipped with it. Or for $5 you can make the bins I make for each of my isopods (my isopod/millipede substrate video shows how to make them, it won't let me link it here for some reason)
Do you have any humidity sensors for tanks you would suggest purchasing? I live in a pretty dry area and i’d like to try getting my plant only terrarium to the right range for a little while before trying these guys
@@LoochGardenState7587 Youre in luck! I made a video on EXACTLY how I made the Rubber ducky bins but on a much larger scale INCLUDING the soil. Go check out isopod/millipede bin setup! You just would want a smaller bin but otherwise? Works the same. Click here: ruclips.net/video/qGCgvB1K16A/видео.html for Bin setup And here for soil: ruclips.net/video/LKGJRmJOEkk/видео.html
Great video! I have some duckies being shipped to me next week, and I’ve been trying to drop the humidity in my terrarium but it remains around 100%. Any tips for dropping the humidity? It has one ventilation hole but I can’t add more because it’s glass
So first Id ask; what device is saying 100% humidity? That seems pretty hard unless its one of those like circular hygrometers. Id highly recommend Govers thermometer/hygrometers, they sell them on Amazon, often in a three pack. One thing you could do as a temporary fix is put a fan on it, or add a heating pad to the SIDE of the enclosure if glass and sizable enough?
I started with a dozen about a year ago and now I’m at just over 105 individuals. How do I know how many I have? I’ve been transferring them one by one to a new bin because a bunch of baby powder blues showed up in the duckie bin 😭
I have bad news...you count them 😭. OR you can put out their favorite meal, wait 20 minutes then come move the entire piece of butternut squash or whatever vegetable you put down and count them as you pick them off it. I would literally use a sieve and strainer them out of soil rigorously for hours in the beginning if rehousing and wanting EVERY baby.
Yes as long as you have a drier side for them to choose to go to that side (even if only a corner). That being said, just note: They will become a very costly snack for your frogs!
The question Id ask first is: perfect for what? Bioactive? Powder blues/powder oranges. Palladarium? Dwarf whites. Really Rubber Duckies are only perfect for "showing off'
@@juicesarthropods yeah, I've got some adult Porcelios and I haven't had much issue with them... They're too big for it too eat... Maybe not the baby's
@@h3alixl433 I feel like the better question is this; do you want to risk $15-$20 a pop isopods when there are significantly cheaper options available? Mourning geckos shouldnt be a problem size-wise, but I apologize I am ignorant to their care and humidity needs. If kept relatively wet, then shouldn't be an issue just put some cork bark in there as well as moss for a hydration area, and you're golden!
Absolutely. Hey, have to spread the word of the unspoken right? Otherwise ignorance wins and these creatures get killed due to ignorance. Glad the bug community is growing!!!
