Reminds me of Yuel from Granblue Fantasy Versus.
The English version is completely different from what they’re saying in Japanese. For the chili one, sin asks Ky if he’s heard of yaki imo. Yaki imo is a play on words because it means baked potato in Japanese, but imo is also a type of caterpillar. So the joke is that you expect sin to be talking about baked potatoes, but then he goes on explaining how sol made him eat baked caterpillars.
I was wondering what was so weird about him eating chili, but Im guessing they couldnt think of anything in english to have a similar play-on words so they just went with Chili

In English it’s less the fact that sol made sin eat chili, it’s more the fact he branded it as a “super secret hero feast.” Ky is mad that sol was giving sin such poor food that even chili is a treat/novelty.
Also the fact that sin thought it would be cold bc of the name. He’s realizing how hard sol dropped the ball.
In Japanese tho sol straight up made sin eat bugs. He also yells out food that contains bugs when he gets hit by faust’s wheelchair.

for those that speak japanese, does the arithmetic “rhythm tick” world play still work in the language? i’m always curious how/if puns translate to different languages.
Actually Sin's responding (it sounds like from what little Japanese I understand) that he understands/knows. Says something like, 「わかってるよ。偉い人だろう？」 which more or less means, "I know it. I'm pretty remarkable, right?" or something similar. Though I hope someone more versed in it can confirm.

For context, a lot of japanese people have four characters for their full name (example, a big chunk of the Japanese prime ministers)
Sin is so ignorant that he hears something like four characters and instantly assumes it's a person's name (四則計算) so it's clear that he has been far, far away from studying.
