  • Clogged ducts are miserable. There are many different remedies out there, but one that is going crazy among new moms (and on TikTok!) is using a haakaa silicone suction pump.
    All you need is a haakaa, some epsom salts, and warm water.

    I had a very stubborn clogged duct. The whole top of my right breast was clogged and that caused for me to also got engorged on that portion of my breast. The whole top part was rock hard as the day progressed and it was until the following night that I finally unclogged it. I did 5 haakkaa treatments for 30 min and when I used my electric pump that’s where I had my letdown.
    I had also done warm compressions, took sun flower lecithin powder, and massaged firmly the area. Do not give up on the haakkaa. Keep trying to reattach it until you feel a painful suction. It should suck hard enough that you can pull your shirt over it and you can walk around the house and do other tasks while the 30 min are up!

    Thanks for the great video!
    How do I know the clogged milk is out? How many times a day you did this?
    I just did it and feel great relief, but I still feel the bump.

    It takes longer than 10-15 minutes. The 15 minute mark is when the milk actually starts to come out. But it’s really slow.not fast like everyone says. And when the water cools down seems like it’s even slower. I emptied the haakaa 3 times in total and also took a nap while doing this in may rocking chair. Does relieve a lot of the pain while your doing it.

      I have read that regular salt helps with the inflammation and healing of the nipple, but I do not have experience using it to unclog a duct. I read that the only other thing is sunflower lecithin but also do not know enough about it.

    What do you do if the nipple can’t touch the water?

  • @julaineakgrown911
    @julaineakgrown911 3 года назад +6

    Okay so I just want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly, I just suction the haaka to my breast and let sit there without compressing it, correct? And then the milk will go into the water so I’m then wasting milk 😫Or I let sit for 10 min, empty the haaka and then let the milk flow? -my milk supply is so low already I’d hate to waste it but I guess it’s better to get relief than an ounce or 2 of milk

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  3 года назад

      Yes, no compression. I would just do it until the clog is removed. I wouldn't do this while you are nursing, as that should limit the amount of milk that comes out.

    • @caroc4327
      @caroc4327 Год назад

      @@Mariekr49 I meant, pump first with your regular pump to get the breast as empty as possible, then do this method with the hakka. BTW, I'm so sorry if you're the one going through this. I tried everything and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I let the Hakka stay on for almost 30 minutes before it worked, but it did and it was sweet relief. Prayers that you will get through it, I will try and respond if I see you comment again. Best of luck!
