This is a nice skid-plate, however; I bought this skid plate for my 2024 4Runner TRD-ORP with KDSS. I bought and received the correct plate for a ORP with KDSS. I tried to mount the plate, but something just didn't look right. The left and right KDSS swivel joints / ram were touching the Skid Plate after the install was completed. I knew that something wasn't correct, since the KDSS ram's have to be able to move up and down, and the KDSS components actually touching the skid plate after the install would hinder the KDSS system to do what it is designed to do. Well, I posted pictures on a 4Runner forum, explaining what the issue was, and how I could possibly fix the issue. Here is the issue with installing this KDSS Skid-Plate onto my ORP 4Runner...... I had a 2 1/2" front and 1 1/2" rear lift installed about a month ago. Besides the lift, the shop installed the Dr. KDSS spacers both on the front and rear suspension system to keep all KDSS components / sway bar perfectly horizontal and aligned. Well, lifting the truck pushed the KDSS bushings and sway bar down towards the skid plate by 2 1/2", the heights of the installed front suspension lift, which pushed the sway bar and KDSS components right flush against the top of the skid-plate. So this KDSS Skid Plate on 4Runners that are lifted are not compatible, and it does not work. Not only does it not work when the truck has a suspension lift installed, the skid plate will destroy the KDSS system, since the KDSS ram and sway bar are now locked in place by the Skid Plate, which does not allow the KDSS system to travel, therefore damaging the system and the Skid Plate. So, no issues with this KDSS Skid Plate when installing it on a truck that is not lifted, but it will damage the KDSS system if the truck was lifted. Luckily, I knew something wasn't correct after the install, so I never drove my 4Runner with the plate installed. It would had been a very costly repair bill if I had........ I wish that the sellers of this Skid Plate would have a warning notice on their website making buyers aware of this issue. In my case, I'm out $270.00, the cost of the Skid-Plate. I can't return it since I had to open up / drill out the back mounting holes a little, since the mounting bolt pattern on the Skid Plate and my trucks mounting holes were off by about 1/8", which didn't allow for the mounting bolts to align. Of course I had to drill the mounting holes out a little more before I was able to actually mount the plate, which then highlighted the touching KDSS / sway bar components against the plate. But, it is what it is! Luckily I didn't damage my trucks KDSS system. I do now need to find me a Skid Plate that accounts for having a lifted truck with the KDSS system installed. I'm going to list my "new" plate for sale on FB for $150.00, so I hope to recover some of the plate's purchase cost. Hope my comment will safe someone of damaging their KDSS system or waisting $270.00 like I did...........
Excellent vids as always! Please put that “Small Plastic Protective Cover” back on (right behind the lower front bumper) so that you won’t cause damage your lower radiator assembly from Rain, Salt, Rocks, and other Road Debris…The Skid Plate will fit with that “Small Protective Plastic Cover”installed to to the lower front body! If you look at the Skid Plate install it looks like something is missing! (With all that open space)! It bothered me too! I always thought that it looked wrong! I recently saw a correct install Video. Now it looks clean like it left the Tahara factory that way. Now I’m not concerned about Winter driving!😅
Have you done an oil change yet after the new skid plate was installed? Was there enough room to get your hand on the oil filter, through the access panel?
Love Barcelona Red stunning color and yea I’m glad this company is offering something that not even Toyota offers, now even KDSS owners can enjoy this classic skid plate, black would be awesome, enjoy my friend!
The CTH instructions for removing the two skid plate brackets don't make sense intuitively. Shouldn't the KDSS version be the one that keeps the OEM brackets on, as they would need more clearance? And the non-KDSS install can have the two brackets removed and fit more snuggly, without issue?
Aesthetically pleasing but not functional. I like the fact that it comes in black. The skid plate appears thinner than the factory one and in the center where you would normally place the jack, that piece is riveted on which would compromise it's integrity when you are jacking up the car. The factory skid plate is one whole piece and it is double welded underneath the jack support to accommodate for the weight. This one is purely aesthetic and would not provide the proper protection if you took your car off roading or jacking your car up to replace a flat tire.
This is nice for what it is and guys have beat these up pretty good and no problems. It is very slightly thinner than the TRD but nothing of consequence. It is obviously not for rock crawling etc but the TRD skid is a joke for hardcore off road driving too. You need an entirely different league of skid plate that is going to cost you well over double the price just for the engine skid and you would have to replace the entire underside OEM skid protection as grossly inadequate.
@@MeynMotorGroup cool. I used the stock washer and bolts for the rear also. Just finished 30 minutes ago. I just noticed that the included washer was much bigger than the stock one that’s all. The holes on the rear are kind of large.
@@timzusa Nice massive congrats my friend yea it's a great upgrade and yea you just need the big washers/spacers for the front everything in the back is just standard toyota botls.

Thank you for the valuable information on the rear screws for the skid plate. I have mine ordered and awaiting. The information is highly appreciated.
@@purdue1998 glad it helped!
This is very very nice. I known its not super hard but its awesome you can DIY this stuff. I hope you have a great weekend
Yea my friend super easy just 4 bolts

❤ it! I have a 2022 TRD OR with KDSS In Barcelona Red with blacked out Toyota logos. The black skid plate with red letters letters will look great

Good job, nice car
Thank you my friend
Nice accessory!
Very nice Thanks Kevin.
And thank you for stopping by!
Do you plan to lift and fit bigger wheels or keep it close to stock as classic ?
Where is the new jack point? With the new skid plate? The old one has that little circle thing you put the jack under
If you got at 1:25 it’s still there.
Question does the skid plate cover the space where the plastic cover goes? Or is tje plastic front cover also install back in the truck?
Yes the plastic cover is replaced
Did you use the included washers for the bolts in the rear?
No as mentioned in the vid I reused the Toyota bolts in the rear. I only used the CTH bolts/washers in the front

The back bolts on mine can’t reach the holes? Did you have that issue?
no because I reused the original toyota bolts in the back
I figured out my problem. Mine is lifted and there is a spacer that needed to be removed for it to fit.
Some trail videos in the near future?
Probably not just a pavement princess for me 😅😂
@MeynMotorGroup I get it, I wouldn't either haha
That and I don't have any trails near by everything is private property 😂
