    So again, this had to be (95%) recorded before 148 aired in order to get all these videos out on time! After the Arc-V finale, the ending is definitely a top 3, probably my number 1 disappointment of Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V.. So the 5th ending visuals would be pushed off, or moved to the number 11 spot! Hope you all enjoy!

      Ending 5 was a good ending song though... it shouldn't even have made the list honestly Yugioh Everything. Plus they worked out doing the preview clips of Dark Side of Dimensions.
      Also you forget... the actual Number 1 was Opening 3 Unleash's tease of Yuya VS Yugo.

    So which character got the worst treatment in the show? There are many candidates:
    - Yuzu, who started as a great main female lead with lots of potential and got turned into Princess Peach halfway through the series.
    - The other bracelet girls, who didn't even get to come back.
    - Yuri, who was a great villain with lots of potential, who was then turned into a good guy of screen just to complete the set.
    - Leo, who was that big bad guy for over 100 episode, and turned out to be a giant bitch.
    - Ray, who never appeared.
    - Yuto, who became Casper the friendly ghost.
    - Yugo, who never got to see or interract with the girl he was searching for over 100 episodes.
    - Yuya, who is the first main character who didn't even get to fight the main bad guy, and then spend the last 12 episodes ruining the small amount of charisma he had.
    - Asuka and Edo, who were brought all the way from GX era, just to look pitiful (which is a repeat in Asuka's case, considering GX was almost as bad to her). Especially considering how the other legacy characters were treated.
    - Gongenzaka, who didn't get to do shit in the last 100 episodes.
    - Sawatari who lost to almost every character who could hold a duel disk.
    - Badass characters we loved like Sora and Shun, who got completely sidelined in the last arc.
    - DM characters who didn't even get to appear in the show.
    (I honestly didn't know I had so much complaints until I started writing this.)

    • @TheYamiJK
      @TheYamiJK 7 лет назад +145

      Sawatari hurts, he had potential to be a great rival or best friend/rival to Yuya and all that lead up before just hits a wall and goes poof. I honestly thought, Sawatari was going to end up as Yuya's right hand guy at the start, the Joey,Jesse,Crow,Shark figure.The fact he was shown to be a competent duelist but has no wins is baffling.

    One thing disappointing to add to the bracelet girls? Yuzu never learned the other summoning techniques. She learned Fusion which got me thinking, "OH? Maybe she will be Yuya's equal and learn with him in summoning?" But nope. They do nothing else with her. In a perfect world, she would have learned the other summonings alongside Yuya, then have to duel him in the antagonist fight to get him back using everything she learned. But no.
    This series and female characters.

    • @claireaquos6532
      @claireaquos6532 4 года назад +27

      Actually, the reel problem with that if you ask me is they didn't even know how to explore their main concept wich is the main character being the reincarnation (Or rather part reincarnation) of someone evil. So they put more focuss on Yu gi oh arc V philosophy wich is to bring smile with duel and not use it as a tool of war and destruction. Yet, this philsophy didn't completly fit with the main story (By that, I mean it wasn't connected enough wich each other) wich is probably why everything about it was mostly filler.
      I think the revelation about Z-arc and Ray should have been made a lot sooner in order to give each of the Yu boys a proper arc where they really acknowledge this and see what it means for them

    • @nexusshark
      @nexusshark 4 года назад +13

      @@claireaquos6532 I agree. Yuya's ideals clashed too much with the concept of dimensional counterparts.

    • @claireaquos6532
      @claireaquos6532 4 года назад +10

      @@nexusshark Well, there is a way for this philosophy to work with the concept.
      For exemple, for Yuto's case, dealing with the fact he is "part devil" could have easely fit with his arc in the xyz dimension where he needs to not let his anger control him anymore and why it's so important to adopt the philosophy of "Dueling is made to make people smile"...
      Let's think about it, even thought it was under very different circonstances and made in very different ways, both Yuto and Z-arc has put there philosophy aside and let there heart be harden due to their arsh reality (As seen in Yuto's duel with Sawatari in episode 7). With him learning about Z-arc before the Xyz arc, Yuto could have realize this ressemblance and realize he has the potentiel to become like Z-arc again, way more then Yuya does, and give more reasons to follow Yuya ideology... This would have been a great way to explore even more Yuto as a character and his relashiopship with Yuya.

    • @nexusshark
      @nexusshark 4 года назад +10

      @@claireaquos6532 This would've also worked better for Yuya I think, because Zarc used to be an entertainer himself and Yuya kinda inherited that from him. But knowing sooner about Zarc, he would've realized where his evil side came from and how and why it always reacted to brutal duels. Yuya's ideal wouldn't just clash with most ideals, but it would also be based on something he remembers about his past as Zarc. Basically you could explore the relationship between Yuya and Zarc and how Yuya represents Zarc's early life before he went mad. And Yuya's ideals are the only thing that keeps that madness at bay, yet it grows stronger every time his counterparts get closer.

  • @45darkrai

    The relationship between Yuya and Yuzu becoming a running gag since the end of 99 was one my biggest disappointment besides Yuzu getting shafted in the most laziest route imaginable.

    Let me take my time addressing something I see a lot in the comment. People seem to be under misconception that the bad writing of Arc-V is because “The show is cut short” or “There isn’t enough episode”. Allow me to disprove that.
    1. It is to be expected that Arc-V will last about 3 years from the very beginning. We even got a confirmation long ago. Meaning, the production team knows from the very start how much time they had and what they should do.
    2. 148 is a good enough number to tell an entire story properly, if the writers know what they’re doing. If you’re doubting that, let’s count how much episodes the show wasted on pointless thing, and I'll be generous and not counting the Synchro arc.
    - 1 episode for the pirate ship.
    - 6 episodes for the battle beast.
    - 4 episodes for the brainwashed girls (You can cut it out and the plot won’t change)
    - 1 episode for the tower guardians.
    - Roughly 1 episode for Reiji vs Reira. (Really, what’s the point? That Reira can communicate with Ray? You can do that without the duel.)
    - 4 episodes for Zarc vs insert random person here.
    - 3 episodes for the memory lost after defeating Zarc
    - 3 episodes for Yuya vs Dennis / Shun / Jack (As much as I love their characters, the duel was unnecessary)
    That’s a total of 23 wasted episodes. TWENTY-THREE. That’s more than enough to stretch the Xyz arc, have some development on Zarc and Ray, get a proper Yugo vs Yuri, have an epic conclusion to the Zarc fight, explore Leo’s character, proper reunion of the boys and the girls, etc, etc. But no, the battle beast and the parasite are more important. Keep in mind, I’m not even counting the biggest elephant in the room that is Synchro arc.
    So, yes, Arc-V isn't bad because it didn’t have enough time. It's bad because the writers are incompetent.

    • @oboretaiwritingch.2077
      @oboretaiwritingch.2077 7 лет назад +35

      The filler duels basically just served to introduce newer cards for Konami to sell. Many supposedly "important" cards like Sky Magician, Dark Requiem, Greedy Venom, Odd Eyes Raging, Ultimate Falcon, Odd Eyes Saber, Nirvana High Paladin etc showed up only for a duel or two and was promptly never used again.
      What's funny was on the other hands, many characters like Kaito used the same strategy (Cipher Wing) over and over it became monotonous.
      I wouldn't call Arc-V's writing terrible, it simply had bad planning with too many times writers just thought "we should give this character a duel!", "what for?", "I dunno just do it". That they didn't have time to resolve any plots in the end.

    • @Saibot_the_Noob

      I guess when you are writing a show that uses a massive cast of characters from 4 separate dimensions, and have bosses that need you to write in promotions for the new product they are trying to push, cracks start to form in the quality.

      THANK YOU! I'm tired of people blaming the amount of episodes the show had when the writers proven again and again that they just liked to waste episodes cause they had no ideas what to do. I'm sure the writers will just waste more episodes if Arc-V is longer imo. Zexal has less episodes than Arc-V and it did so much better than Arc-V in term of pacing, so Arc-V has no good excuse.

Mostly because of the emotions and character devellopement we could get from it (Something we didn't get in arc v... Well, very little and only on Yuya part). @@claireaquos6532 It's not hard to figure out this anime was clearly influenced...if not outright trying to copy Final Fantasy VII's Cloud Strife in part. I suspect that every "triumph" of Yuya was also intended to further the contradiction between "having fun win or lose" and "needing to win", with his first loss to Zuzu being one of the reasons he fell.
      The show in general wasn't just a blending of former Yu-gi-oh, but other entertainment and real life things. Final Fantasy VII, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Beethoven's 9th, Pokemon(Fusion Dimension are like Pokemon trainers in "catching them all" and Sora even has a card that clearly tosses out "PokeBalls").
      Digimon also got shoutout with Yuya's googles and a bit of Mitsuo Yamaki in Declan/Reiji. Also, I can't help but think Celina is somewhat inspired by Rika Nonaka.

    • @claireaquos6532
      @claireaquos6532 Год назад

      @@TehKaiser ... Every fictions in the world is like this! Our stories are influences by everything we are surrunded by. Even Star Wars is a bunch of things from stories that were popular at the time. There's nothing wrong with that as long as the story is good with a good execution.
      Also, never play Final fantasy so I can't tell if you're right! Personnaly, arc 5 reminds me of Kingdom hearts: A good fun loving protagonist that got up in a dark plan bigger then himself and has to go throught different worlds where pre existant characters lives to search for his friend that got capture by the enemi. Also, the main protagonist ends up having other people living inside of him. (But again, nothing wrong with that in particular).

    For me the biggest disappointments was that Yuri never got his redemption moment and we were denied Yuya vs Yugo. This guy's only desire to become Zarc was to finally have any friends and at the final episode, he's automatically cool with the Yu-boys and had one only one relationship moment with Serena(even though they DIDN'T EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER AT ALL). I'd hoped that if all of them were separated, we would've gotten Yuri saying sorry for everything that he did to Rin, Ruri, and the Lancers and he and Serena finally have that moment we all wanted that was well written or get my dream duel Yuri VS Shun and has for Yuya vs Yugo, Yugo would've say "Hey Yuya, since I was dropped out of the Friendship Cup due to dueling Yuri, we'll settle things right now" that would've been awesome because we only saw dueling in the opening. But denied by rushed plot and bad writing, hopefully V-Rains could deliver dream duels.

    Yeah I agree I would say Yuri vs. Yugo was *VERY* disappointing, literally *EVERY* time I saw Yuri and Yugo in the same scene I just kept thinking: *"Are we FINALLY going to get that much anticipated Yugo vs. Yuri duel?!?"* to be disappointed when it didn't happen, than we *FINALLY* get that duel I was *SOOOOO* excited, we waited *40+ EPISODES* for it and it started off fast paced and hot but then we skip to Yuya/Reiji vs. The Professor and then when we finally pay attention to the Yugo vs. Yuri they're interrupted by Kaito and Aster Phoenix *(and they played a part in Yugo losing, if they hadn't shown up than he probably would've had a better chance)* and after Kaito and Aster are out of the way the next episode mostly focuses on the ever so random Reiji vs. Reira duel...........all of the hype for Yugo vs. Yuri was just one huge waste of the time... the hype/build up was more exciting than the duel itself... my word *HOW?!?* Great video by the way mate!! Its ironic that Zexal had a bad start but a great ending and Arc V had a great start but a bad ending. Honestly I think that the reason why they made Yuya have Zarc in him was just for a writer to top themselves from Zexal with Shark. I like Arc V as a whole but the once Arc came out the show started to feel like a bit of a let down. As for why no duel monsters characters showed up? I think it was because of Dark side of dimensions. More then likely they couldn't use them because they were being used for the film. Also Dark side of dimensions I believe hurt Arc V in general.Think about it, 5D'S got hurt when bonds beyond time was in the works, Wouldn't it work the same way for Arc V?

    My biggest disapoint was definitely the no Yuya vs Yugo duel like we saw in opening 3. I would have LOVED like in the opening if they dueled in the sky of the whole city with their monsters. Even a creative use actions cards could be implemented. This would have been an awesome synchro arc finale at like episode 75-78.
    But a few other things that were huge disappoints in addition to this list.
    -Sora's character got destroyed.
    -NO PLOT DEVELOPMENT FOR ALMOST 75 EPISODES Synchro - 124.
    -Leo doing something. I wish his plan was about more than just stopping Zarc. Like he really wanted to fuse the dimensions into one. He should have dueled WAY earlier.
    -Better competent writing...Why on Earth did Leo train Yuri?
    -What happened to the whole INVASION and the HUNTING Sora mentioned. Would have been Dark and AWESOME to watch
    - Better Villians from Synchro and XYZ dimensions. Like people in these dimensions actually agreed about being fused back into one. For interesting drama
    -Yuya ACTUALLY using all forms of his deck. I would have loved if he got his own XYZ monster other than DRXD. But also, what happened to Enlightenment and Nirvana high paladins!? As well as beast eyes, rune eyes and brave eyes should have all been used more frequently.
    -The other Yu boys and bracelet girls became less and less of characters and more like plot devices. UGH! So wasted potential with these awesome characters. Would have been sick if Zarc took from trait from each of them.
    All in all, loved Arc V. But goodness it got more and more disapointing as Synchro and Beyond. It just seemed to lose a lot of if's magic and cool mysterious atmosphere. On top of almost every aspect flopping :/

    the main reason i got into arcv was because of yuuto, yuzu, and serena in season one. i fell in love with the idea of counterparts and they were always teasing us with yuuto and yuuya interactions, but after yuuto's 'death scene' and however many episodes it was between that episode and the one where yuuto actually talks with yuuya again, the excitement over it had washed down enough that i didn't care all that much.
    then with yuzu and serena, i loved them because they were badass and had good duels in the beginning. aaand then they BOTH became damsels in distress?? for more than half the show??? and that's something i've been bitter about ever since yuzu was first taken away ://
    so yea those characters are my number one disappointment, tho you're number one in the video as well as your revised number one also make the cuts

Plus both Ruri and Rin could've helped Yuzu learn all 4 extra deck Summoning and having all 4 girls be on their own team by helping not only their Yu-boys but to also save their friends and family.
      Imagine if Ruri was helping Shay by actually escaping her tower way early on to help Yuzu fight against Yuri or have Rin compete against Yuzu during the friendship cup Synchro arc so that all 4 girls can be lancers (heck Yugo can even join the lancers against Yuri and Leo once all 4 girls are finally working together again) 😊😊😊😊😊😢😢😢😢😢

    My biggest complaint was the relationship between yuya and yusho. The whole series yuya went on and on about how great his dad was, and it’s already established that yuya was secretly depressed after yusho went missing, and they don’t even get reunited until almost the end of the series. And the reunion felt really underwhelming, I was expecting more emotion but all Yūshō had to say was something like, “you’ve grown”. Plus the whole “yuya isn’t really your son” thing could have been more impactful, especially when yusho realizes that he has no memory of yuya being born. Then when yuya goes berserk right in front of yusho, I thought yusho would be more horrified to see how brutal berserk yuya was but he kinda just stood there before he used that unauthorized card to pin yuya to a wall. I wish yusho hadn’t been carded because it would have been nice to see him go up against Zarc to try and bring yuya back. And then of course the series ended RIGHT when yusho and yuya started their duel, my god.

    • @mikai4738
      @mikai4738 5 лет назад +23

      True. Yuzu and Serena at least got some good treatment first but definitely not Ruri and especially not Rin. These two were basically just there to give Yuto, Shun and Yugo a reason to cross dimensions. While Ruri had at least several people who cared about her, Rin had only Yugo. While Ruri got some duels (even though mostly in flashbacks) with different people, Rin's duels were shorter in number and her only opponent was Yugo. And while Ruri and Yuto was proven canon thanks to that one flashback, we still don't know if Rin ever liked Yugo more than just a friend. (while his crush on her is obvious af)
      And speaking of Yuya's counterparts: Yuto "dying" so early was really not that cool and so his character development was rather small to non-existant, Yugo made at least some new friendships with Yuzu. (and I'd also kinda count Shingo and Serena) Yuri had it worst. The writers could've fleshed him out better but he was just evil who turned magically good in the end. (and I still wonder why he and Serena had like no connection at all when they actually met as kids)

    • @lpfan4491
      @lpfan4491 4 года назад +3

      I honestly liked Yutos death because it was a very surprising beautiful scene of Yuya unknowingly giving him a second chance by giving his soul to have a place to stay instead of the guy just perishing. And it plays into the theme of the diffrent dimensions interacting in interessting ways as it could be seen as yuya and yuto overlaying, like how yuya and yugo later syncronise.
      Obviously, none of that means jack later because they just kinda make it a "all of this is fake, zarc fabricated all of it"-type of deal and Yuto as a character means nothing for some bizzare reason. But eh, second half of arc v is the most popular ragememe for the entire community for a good reason.

    The treatment of the bracelet girls and the weak closure for all the counterparts was my biggest complaint. At least in Yuya's case, we got to see his counterparts communicate with Yuya a bit in the end. Nothing with Yuzu, and practically no acknowledgment of the other girls asides the visual at the end. Literally 1 more episode could change that and make it SO much better, but this is what happens when an arc with great potential gets rushed.

    Oh... It's sad just how much I agree with all of this. The amount of disappointment everything gave me.
    I remember me and my boy were HYPED AF for Yugo vs Yuri ever since the opening. Me and him literally built decks based off the two and duked it out a few times on YGOPro to see who would win. Like, our hype was unbelievable because I'm a Yuto/Yugo fanboy, and he's a Yuri fanboy, so you can imagine how heated our discussions used to get. Lol. That duel disappointed us so bad... I had to rewatching it just to realize this was real.
    Ray was utter disappointment. I needn't say anything about her.
    You know what else was disappointing? Zarc's reasoning for being evil. My understanding is that he pleased the crowd by doing violent duels which in turn made him go bat shit crazy? What? What kind of reasoning is that?
    And I hated and was disappointed in how Roger went out. Despite all his plans failing, he was a smart and interesting character that I wished had a better end. Now I'm just wondering if he's alive. For a higher-up in Academia, he dueled like shit.
    You spoke to me in a spiritual level about Yuto. Maannnnn did I hate that all of Yuto's actions were through Yuya after episode 39... The best thing he did must have been when he got pissed at Edo and summoned Dark Requiem. OH YEAH! Where the heck IS Dark Requiem? I thought that was the evoled form of Dark Rebellion just like how Starve Venom has Greedy Venom and Clear Wing had Crystal Wing. We barely even say Greedy Venom and Dark Requiem....

    Here's some improvements Arc-V could've made:
    1. Let's start with my biggest issue with Arc-V: Yuya. He was a shallow character with no major improvements over the course of the series; his primary goal was to make people smile. Now, on paper, that sounds like a good idea...but he literally shoved the idea down everyone's throat.
    There were a few ideas of what Dueling was in Arc-V's early episodes; instead of what they went with, they could've used Yuya as a punching bag about why they Duel (unlike some people I have no issues with main characters losing so long as it serves a purpose.
    He brings shame to Duelists with Action Cards; they become a crutch for other cards that would've worked just as well. You pretty much summed up my feelings on this stupid gimmick and may we never see it again.
    2. The Lancers. I thought this was supposed to be an elite group of Duelists trying to stop the Fusion Dimension declaring war on the other dimensions. Then why is Yuya the only one who constantly and consistently Duels and wins? Seriously, since the other characters joined, all they've done is lose; that's extremely disappointing, especially if you've taken a shine to some of them (Shun, Dennis, Serena, etc.).
    3. Changes to story: Shorten the Synchro Dimension by eliminating that tedious Tops-vs-Commons arc, combine with the Heartland arc and focus largely on story in the Fusion Dimension. Both Synchro and Xyz could provide some amazing character arcs. More Yu-Zu interactions, besides Yuya/Yuzu ;)
    I'm so upset Yugo and Ruri NEVER met; Yuto's reaction would've been priceless XD
    4. Unless they help define our original cast, don't bother giving us legacy characters. They used the same strategy in every Duel and it got old fast.
    5. Ray and Zarc. If they were planned from the beginning, give us more history between the two or more history of the original dimension in general.
    (I appreciate the time you took to read this and feel free to add anything that you think would've improved Arc-V)

    Arc-V's treatment of its female characters is probably the most depressing thing about it, bc yeah yugioh has always sidelined its female characters but the difference with Arc-V is that it LOOKED like it was gonna treat them well early on. Then, as you said, they all get kicked out of the plot until Ray duels Zarc (while in a boy's body which is especially insulting). It's just very disheartening

    i'm surprised no one mentioned anything about Layra, literally the entire series he is shown to be the next Reiji and follow in his footsteps so much that his deck is similar to being C/C monsters and the whole series up until zarc was about Layra finding his self confidence and waking up to be his own person and all of that got thrown out of the window when he was forced back into a baby and be nothing more then the vessel for zarc's soul. The ending even made everything Layra had talked to jack about in the synchro dimension worth nothing.

    My biggest problem with the action cards was the fact that they essentially just became "Miracle" and "Evasion" after a while... Probably one of the things that bothered me the most, is that there would have been a simple way to prevent the Zarc resurrection. Leo should have simply carded Yuri when he first met him. He knew Yuri was Zarcs reincarnation so why did he risk leaving him alive? you can't tell me that Yuri was the only one cappable of collecting the bracelet girls. Also while bringing this up, Yuri is my favorite character in the show. I just loved how powerful and unhinged he was. What I kinda hate was that he barely used any Predaplants, which are one of my favorite Arc-V archtypes, especially lacking any of the extra deck once, although granted he had the most powerful of the 4 summoning dragons so he didn't really need anything else. Which is the reason I hate his defeat so much. Yuya was, out of the four Yu-Boys, probably the worst duelist (my personal order would be Yuya, Yugo, with his one trick pony deck which relied way to much on luck, did Zarc actually help him with that maybe, Yuto, who was crimmanally underused (seriously he had only three duels. Sawatari, an idot could beat him so that doesn't count, Sora, ended without result, and Yugo, which he lost) and Yuri). I would have loved for Yuri to wipe the floor with him, fully embrassing Zarcs madness whith Yuya and Yuto trying to supress it which would cause their defeat. In the end the result of these duels didn't even matter in the first place since Zarc would have resurrected regardless of the results.

    I'd label these in the list:
    1. Yuya and Yuto not communicating until season 3.
    2. The little to no interaction between Yuri and Celina even though they met as kids
    3. The fact that the Bracelet Girls were brainwashed in Season 3.

    • @xapath3tic
      @xapath3tic 6 месяцев назад

      The fact that there was nothing between Celina and Yuri is genuinely probably the biggest offender in my opinion. Yuri is the only one of the Yu-boys that went completely bad and it's because he never got to know his bracelet girl, that should've been a plot point. Especially cause they wanted to redeem Yuri by the end of the series, it should've been Celina to do it.

    My biggest disappointment was Yuya in general. I never really liked him as a character. He was like Yuma, always being too happy. But the biggest problem I had with him was that he was always pushing his beliefs on other people. The only good thing about Yuya was his berserk mode.

      You kidding. Yuya by far was not always happy. In fact he was one of the most moody protags by far. Sure when he gets into entertainment mode he's happy, but most of the time he was either angry, sad, or worried about Yuzu.

      Wolff Nah, Yuya and Yuma aren't that similar. While Yuma always tried to do better even if others didn't believe in him, Yuya got way more emotional about it. Remember the first episodes of Arc-V when Yuya would always put his glasses on when he wanted to hide his tears? It did get better with time but Yuya had really more self-esteem issues than Yuma. And later, Yuya wasn't that often happy and more depressed.

      Wolff Wow I completely disagree,Yuya is my 3rd favorite protagonist after Judai. I can see why you interpreted Yuya the way you did but to me I liked that he preached about smiles. Usually the ones who are hurt more smile the brightest. I guess to me I saw Yuya as a sad young man who tried to be Happy. I don't really like when characters get all depressed, except in Judais case he was awesome in season 4. Yuya just lived up to what his father had told him "whenever you want to cry smile, the more you push the more will come back. Take a step with courage if you want to win" I loved that philosophy and I thought Yuya lived up to it.

    My biggest disappointments in Arc-V oh man where do I start I love and adore this series, but with the shit the studio pulled in the last 48 episodes I have a LIST of complaints, but let's see if I can pick 10 out from this list that take higher precedence in my opinion:
    #1. Arc-V's ending
    #2. Yugo's Treatment
    #3. Poor Character Treatment (For EVERY Character in Arc-V)
    #4. Yuzu, Serena, Rin, and Ruri's Treatment
    #5. The sad fact that the happy ending the final opening (opening 6) and the two final ending songs (both ending 5 and ending 6) show us a happy ending that the series DID NOT deliver.
    #6. The main villains poor executions/treatment and butchered cababilities (Yuri, The Doctor, Leo, and Zarc)
    #7. Yushou's involvment in the series in general
    #8. The fact that Yuyas Pendulum was for symbolism and didn't have any meaning otherwise
    #9. Unfortunately that Yuya and Reiji's final duel was much shorter than it could of been (but it was still amazing even as a short duel)
    #10. Yuya in the very end of the series only had one good synchro being Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon (not counting him having Yugo's two synchro dragons)

Personnaly, I just don't understand the plot: is anyone trying to bring the 4 dimensions as one like it used to be? Leo wants to revive his daughter by defeating Zarc, whom I can view as a fearsome boss? Does not make any sense! Most importantly, what is the main direction of the show: to defeat Zarc, to bring peace in the 4 dimensions, to see Yuya entertain anyone, to revive Ray, to kick Leo's, Roger's, the Professor's ass? Arc-V is ambitious but a complete mess in the end.

  • @ChaoticTeen16

    Being honest, my top 3 disappointments in Arc-V are:
    3) The Yu-Boys not getting their bodies back after Zarc's defeat. That would have made for a more believable reason to have Yuya go Dimension Hopping than "Baby Reira can't smile anymore." Instead of a Yuya vs Dennis/Shun/Jack/Reiji, we could have had 3 awesome back to back duels between Yuya and his fellow counterparts, Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri.
    2) Leo Akaba. Seriously, for who is supposed to be one of the Main Antagonists of the series, he's such a let down. Sure, he's managed to make his subordinates incredibly dangerous opponents, but he himself SUCKS. The motivations behind his master plan are little more than a temper tantrum. And don't even get me started on the OBVIOUS consequences of his plan. By bringing the 4 Dimensions back together, you practically guarentee that Yuya, Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri are gonna somehow meet-up and interact, leading to the revival of Zarc. Leo Akaba, ARE YOU REALLY THAT STUPID?!
    1) How Zarc actually revived. When Yuya and Yuri finally combined via Astrograph Sorceror's power, I admit I was hyped. Supreme King Dragon Zarc had finally come back to life, and he was wrecking everyone and everything's shit. Then Edo and Sora challenge him to a Duel. I would have been fine with it.... if he had his Original Human Form as his dueling avatar. Instead, what we got is a Demonic Yuya. Why give Zarc an original design if you're not even gonna use it when he comes back in person?! The duel itself was actually pretty epic, with 11 characters just struggling to survive against his omnipotent deck, and if the ending of that duel didn't have Seto Kaiba levels of "Screw the Rules, I'm a Demon" involved, I'd have been ok with it.

    Excluding Yuri and Serena, Yuya and Yuzu and their counterparts had the most pairing development for a YuGiOh protag since 5Ds. I thought Yuya would have been ecstatic to finally save Yuzu like he did when he held her at the end of the Synchro arc but it's like he didn't even care that much at the end lol. I know YuGiOh isn't a romance anime, but the whole plot of YuGiOh Arc V could have been summed up as "Boys travelling through dimensions to save their girlfriends" lol.

    Interesting list, Arc-V works as an interesting counterpoint to zexal, the former squandered great potential, while the latter took a very weak set up and turned out great by the end. There are almost too many let down's in arc v to list, so i'm going to be generalizing a lot.
    10. The Opening and Ending Themes. YGO has the best track record for great songs of any long running series, but after 5D's near perfect record and Zexal's mostly great record, Arc V's Op's and Ed's were a let down, especially the endings, of which only Vision is of great quality. If i were to make a top 57 yugioh Op/ED list, over half of Arc-v's songs would be in the bottom half.
    9. Ray's lack of presence, i put this pretty low because it was established that she used the four cards to beat Zarc, not her own skills, but it still sucks that such an important character barely gets any screentime
    8. Yuto, arguably the most interesting of the yu-boys gets the least screen time and development
    7. The lack of great villains, Roget is really the only great villain we got, and his duel was underwhelming, for a series known for great villains, this was a let down
    6. The lancers, after the Standard arc did a great job building all these duelists up, most of them spend the rest of the show getting jobbed by anyone with a name
    5. Yuri vs Hugo, not only for the reasons listed in the video, but for the outcome. Imagine this. Hugo wins, plans to card Yuri to prevent any risk of Zarc, but than Yuri taunts him with Rin's fate and all the stress and crap he's endured causes him to awaken and rage absord Yuri, he then gets completely overwhelmed and violantly defeats Yusho, who was trying to get through to him, this causes Yuya to snap and we get the Yuya vs Hugo duel the third OP teased us with. Bare in mind that Yuri vs Yuya had no build up.
    4. The ending arc entirely, rather than having Yuya conect to the Yu-boys by dueling their friends or someone who mattered to them, we get a long drawn out feel bad arc that ends with the biggest screw you to good pay off i've scene in a long time
    3. The Action duels decline in quality. Action duels are what gave this series its identidy at first, and the variety of memorable settings for duels early on was great, then the synchro arc happened and the duels got very bland looking
    2. Demoted to extra syndrome, the list of characters who start out great and than slip into the background is astounding, while Yuzu and Serena are the worst offenders, the list goes on and on
    1. The lack of truly great duels. I maintain that ArcV has the lowest number of great memorable duels of any Yugioh Show, counting Season 0, and since dueling is the series's identify, this has to take number 1

    • @emmasofia3622
      @emmasofia3622 7 лет назад +5

      I agree with most that you say. However, ARC-V OST has great songs, like Trump Card, Unleash, Vision, Swing Pendulum of Souls, Steadfast Duel, etc. But I wonder a lot about the remaining Sound Duel Disks, who seems to be unreleased till now, there are a lot of good OST songs that we don't know right now, they're taking too late to release that songs. There are some things that really bothers me about this series: At difference from Zexal, in which almost each Number had their own cinematics and good attack animations, the Summons of important monsters in ARC-V were simply too fast, like if they were rushing the duels. The last arc was very weird, what the fuck was that "oh we need to make Reira smile to save the world" WTF, plus the fact Yuya never fought against Zarc directly, the other dimensional boys and girls never recovered their physical bodies and Ray was simply left around like if she were a very situational character. Well, we can blame director Ono for that.

    • @davidgraziano6235
      @davidgraziano6235 7 лет назад +3

      I never mentioned the Ost, only the OP's and Ed's
      Vision was the only great ending, the rest were either decent to good like Speaking, or downright mad like Dazzling Pendulum.
      The Openings were better overall, Burn is top 5 YGO songs easy, and Believe X Believe and Trump Card are fun. But the rest are either just good like Pendulum Beat, or bad like Light of Hope.
      Again this is only in comparison to 5D's and Zexal's near perfect track record with OP's and Ed's

    • @Monty2289
      @Monty2289 7 лет назад +2

      Number 1 for sure I agree. It's weird. The duels I actually like are the ones with least impact or weight. TBH It's probably Kaito and Yugo's duel against those Sun/Moon Guardians. Even though it was a beat down the raw energy behind them with music playing and big ending attacks were great.
      And ironically the duel Yuya had with the Duel Chaser. It didn't require any grandiose pendulum stuff or Rebellion Dragon but a sweet and simple combination. Infact Yuya's final duel with Dennis were memorable because Action cards were actually used in a unique way and wasn't as convoluted or as boring as the other duels where Yuya was trying to avoid using the other dragons.
      The only big memorable to me was the end of the friendship cup. In terms of big amazing duels I'm not sure if anything else tops that.

      What about the problem with the 4 dragons? The show wasted the potential on their sentience..

  • @GamerJosh2611

    Arc-V is my favorite season... but god did it have its potential wasted. I largely blame editorial bullshit and rushed plot for why it started crashing so hard in the second half, despite having excellent foreshadowing and buildup in the first half.
    It also certainly doesn’t help that they began developing DSoD *during* Arc-V’s runtime. Of course Arc-V would suffer when a goddamn *movie* ended up being developed at the same time, and we can clearly see that they gave more attention to DSoD. Not that DSoD wasn’t good, but it was badly timed and Arc-V took a kick in the nuts because of it.

    My biggest disappointment with arc v was that they never showed off that dragon yuya had in the last op like I was so hyped and excited thinking oh this must be a combination of the four dragons when is yuya gonna use it then the last episode roles around and he never uses it once not a single FREAKING time like what was the point in having it in the OP if you were never going to use it in any of the actual episodes

    i really wish the arc-v manga is way better than this "thing"
    ARC-V is a real joke guyz specially those legacy characters' jokes we were hyped for XD
    i wish they had more time to finish this show (maybe ARC-V was supposed to be a 4 -5 years show) MAYBE!!

      No. It was supposed to be a 3 year Show just probably incompetence and they probably forgot about the time limit when they designed the Synchro Arc forced them to rush out Heartland AND Duel Academy Arcs.

    Asuka never had any character development througout the series. She's there for the nostalgia rather being involved in a main plot. Other legacy characters did however have much reason to appear in this series and none of them didn't bring that nostalgia as they had bigger roles in this series.

    • @MLondan
      @MLondan 7 лет назад +1

      Sigurbjörn S.- Asuka sucked she she was in gx, so when they knew they weren't going to use her for much, they shouldn't have brought her to begin with. And thank you Dylan for talking about Yuto. I think he was treated the worst out of all the boys.

    I'll tell you all my one main problem with Arc-V, but I'm not complaining about the animation while Action Duels is a unique feature with Solid Mass Vision bringing the Monsters to life that and the facial expressions are memorable: It's TOO *dark.* Yuya kept being mentally and emotionally tortured throughout, especially when he became chosen to be the core body to Zarc's resurrection. Ever since this stupid interdimensional war came into the picture, all the humour that we remembered from the first half of season 1 vanished, THE FIRST HALF, all the emotions were nothing but _negative._ The "Friendship" Cup was certainly wicked because of its ironic title as everything in about it was the opposite of "friendship". The only Monsters that held a "bond" (like the Spirit Partners from GX) with the Yu boys were the Ace Dragons. Where's the seasonal Kuriboh? I know Leo misses her daughter deeply after her sacrifice, but he had NO right to commit mass genocide on the innocent with an army of child soldiers! Also, they used up good names for future protagonists in other spin-offs. I'd rather be reading the more comical manga version than relive Arc-V's "realistic" tone, especially with the dub's half-assed attempt to dull down that bloody darkness.

    Could you list the OST and Music used in these videos somewhere? I got a short kick out of the ending theme and I'd like to know what it's called (the OSTs I know are from Arc-V but if you could list them too, that'd be pretty nice). Love your videos! Loved Arc-V and agree completely with everything you said. Though maybe Yuto being the most dramatic and serious of the bunch, should've been higher up on this list for not getting his body back :\

    i understand the theory as to why yuya and yuzu is the last person "alive" so to say in the end, or at least the last one to be able to have a body of their own, BUT IT STILL PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH that the other 3 boys and 3 girls just....disappeared?? into them?? I THINK??? i mean WHY?!?! they have their own story too and they have their wonderful plots as well, WHY SWEEP IT ALL UNDER THE RUG LIKE THAT AND KEPT YUYA AND YUZU ONLY JUST BECAUSE OF THAT?!
    i saw the ending of arc-v "arc of smile", and it showed a pic of them all with their own body in the same dimension.....I EXPECTED THAT KIND OF ENDING. i felt trolled throughout arc-v omg....

      i agree with you, i wanted to see them all revive! poor shun never to see his bestfriend yuto or his sister ruri again. while yuto had no moment with a non brainwashed ruri! or poor rin! she didn't even get to see yugo before she dissapear! and selena! she was cool! and yuri didn't have time to change.

    I was also disappointed by Yuri and Yugo's duel but I think the interference was because Yugo's Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon was too strong. I think the writers new the predicament a card like Crystal Wing would present to Yuri considering it's card used competitively. So, IMO the interference was the only way to make sure Yugo lost, otherwise he would have mopped the floor with Yuri.

    One issue I had was the lack of Rituals: It's established early in that, this time around, focus is going to be placed on ALL of the past summon types, not just the latest Pendulum Summoning. In fact, the duel with Mieru even indicates that Rituals, which have been mostly ignored since 5d's, would get some spotlight. And yet, there are exactly 2 instances where a Ritual Summon is even performed: Once with the aforementioned Mieru, and once with Asuka. Plus, with the whole theme of 5 with this series (Being the 5th ygo series, and even titled "Arc-V (5)"), you'd think there'd be a 5th Ritual Dimension, but... nope.
