I am beginner and after watching this 3 or 5 times I finally realized this is all I need for now. Tried immediately at home to lift myself up, down, and sidewalk on walls. Works great.
When would this actually be useful? why would you need a retrievable mechanical advantage for lowering? Or even limb walking? Don't get me wrong since very useful ideas for rescues on low stuff for more control but the amount of extra rope you would need is insane!
Lots of good uses actually. On limbwalks on SRS, coming back is way more difficult than on an MRS system. You have to pull yourself in while also tending your slack at the same time. Mechanical advantage like this on a limbwalk allows you to easily pull yourself back in ( the MA makes it easier) which also tends your slack at the same time
Guy didn’t even limb walk, just went down. He’s got lots of harness candy though must be nice to get all that for nothing I’d assume about a 7k day with all that stuff
Seems useful - I'll try that with my new DMM pulley carabiners. Of course as being new to climbing, I figured MRS might me a good way to get around a big (wide) tree. Initial climb via SRS then install a pulley at the top to go MRS?
@@patrickmuzzi I really need to watch a pro for a day, in person. I could learn so much. Well, this tip here seems like it will help. You are right, SRS will be much easier when navigating all over a wide canopy. My first tree is a big hickory next to my house here in TN. My young boys and I are having fun for sure.
@@schwartztekllc I run MRS for practically all removals, with the exception of a few scenarios. For pruning it's single rope for access and I stay on single with a high TIP but I also keep a 40ft climb system in a diddy bag to use when needed. Comes in handy more often than not
Yeah, I think I need a second "climb system" to go after the hickory tree I am learning on. At the very least a long lanyard with a rope grab that can be let out under tension. I did get a little DMM bag to hold a 50ft rope and hook but need to figure out a descender setup. I've got 3 spars that top out at only 45ft. Then plenty of spindly branches I need to rig balanced to get out from over buildings. Well, I already man-handled most of the low branches out but am trying to improve my methods as I go. More height above the buildings does help. With a second rope I can pull myself out towards the end of the branch to connect rigging. I nearly got stuck a few branches back as I was hanging from my climb line on one side and my lanyard on the other - was seemingly impossible to get my lanyard backed off after I finished tying on my rigging!
Same question as the rest. This video does not show the use of that scam. All it shows is you using srt. You literally went from one spar swank a tad to the left dropped down that’s it. No actually use of that system make new video

@ltawsomesauce is definitely right a long limb walk is extremely hard using srs

Thanks for taking the time to put these videos out there. Vsg stopped giving back years ago.
Another great video.
But what glasses are those??
Not great video. It doesn’t show actually use of the scam

The only thing about MRS when doing wide canopy trees is the added friction from climbing around branches

You can use the tail end of your rope for a second line.just have to make sure you're rope is long enough
Would this work also with Petzl Zig-Zag with Chicane? Wouldnt the friction be so great, that Chicane could be safely disconnected in this setup?
I've tried it with the chicane and it didn't catch that well, I took off the chicane and just ran it with the zig zag and it ran better.
Did you start an (only fans)???
