  • Mechanical advantage makes life easier, especially when it comes to walking out on long awkward limbs. In this first video we'll demonstrate how to create a retrievable MA system using a DMM Ring and an extra carabiner.

    I used this yesterday and I took a swing/small fall out on the limb walk. It would have been very difficult to get back in position without this technique in place. Thanks Bartlett!

    I do something similar when using a captain hook, instead of using a ring you can use a CT roll n lock as it's mid line attachable it works great.

    What glasses are those? They seem like good prescription glasses for tree work.

    What size ring is that ? 28mm or 46mm that's a great idea!

      It is pretty convenient when ascending taller trees and dropping thru redirects without having to worry about additional friction.

    Hello. In the video you share how one can remove the 3:1 advantage setup by lowering it to your descended position. Do you actually employ this technique? Is that just a capability, or something you use in professional situations? Thank you. David

      To retrieve this redirect, you simply pull on both legs of rope, and it comes back to you.

    Hello. I watch your videos, but this method doesn't work for me. When I do pull-ups, the ring slides towards me. Greetings from Poland ☺

      👋 thank you for viewing the videos, much appreciated! I too have experienced the ring sliding a bit and I have come this conclusion; if the system is not fully weighted when walking back towards the ring, that is when the ring begins to slide.

    What size ring is that please? I’ve used a 45mm and had slippage

    • @BartlettArboristSupply
      @BartlettArboristSupply  Год назад

      The ring I used in the video is a 40mm DMM Ring. If you would like, 28mm would be the next size down. I too have experienced some slip before as well. I found that if the climber's weight is not fully in the system before attempting to walk back using MA, the ring will creep down until fully weighted.

    Is this usefull for climbing in DDrt? Just for climbing long distance

    • @scotttam7491
      @scotttam7491 2 года назад +3

      I dont think this would work drt. Your basically making srt into drt just for that limb walk then you can quickly get back into your srt climb without the need to switch systems. Atleast that's the way I interpret this
