wow Steve absolutely amazing journey stunning scenery i felt like i was with you both there ,top quality production looking forward to the next one lovely to see you both last week too take care buddy all the best Clive & Sharon. 👍
Well done to you both Steve. A very inspiring well made video. I am guessing the roads didn't seem to bad given our roads here in Eastbourne 😉😉😂😂. More of these please. Ted
Very nice! I cycled those parts last September... exactly a year ago I was in Ohrid! I knew exactly where those cobbled 'roads' between Ohrid and Bitola were!! Happy travels.
@@bikeboatbeer yes I saw that road when I was planning my route last year. It looked like you took the small track heading north from the high point of the tarmac road?
@@bikeboatbeer I didn't take that track BTW, just saw it on the map LOL. I was touring on 28mm tyres so tried not to go off-tarmac, although this went badly wrong on the route between Izvor, Selce and Mavrovo in N.Macedonia!! BTW I was sent the link to your video by a mutual friend, Tim Field.
@@spsallidas Trying to guess the surface types from the route planning apps was quite a challenge for us too. From everything I'd read I thought gravel bikes would be a better choice but we went on to take MTB's anyway. Glad we did. And a couple of routes that showed as tarmac were properly rough (and vice versa) so 28mm tyres must have been fun at times 😁 Pass on my regards to Tim.
It's well worth it, we had a great experience. I see you've had some amazing trips too, interested in your Pamir Highway trip which I'll view later as hoping to do that 2025 🤞🏻
Thanks @JakeStow. Flew both ways with WhizzAir. Apart from being delayed on the way back they got me and the bike around with no issues. No problems when we camped wild nor with any of the campsites we used although they were basic compared to Western Europe. Accommodation very cheap when we wanted more comfort too.
Hi thank you. We did a mix of camping and hotels/rooms via booking.com. Some great wild camping opportunities and also campsites which were very basic by European standards but cheap and welcoming. Hotels and rooms were cheap and all but one were pretty good. Our first three days were really hot. 37 degrees and much hotter in the sun. After that temperature was nice, probably high 20s. Enjoy if you do it.
Smashing. I'm doing a slightly different route but heading south east along the border between Montenegro and Albania before coming south through Kosovo, north Macedonia and then back into Albania before Corfu. I saw your komoot link and it looks like we pick up on similar stretches in South Albania!! Any more trips planned? Thanks for the info
Yes. Hoping to do a bit of Croatia and then Bosnia later in the year. Did Montañas Vacías in Spain last month which was great too. I’ll get round to putting together a video for that sometime. Your trip sounds like it should be good.
I have been bike touring for a few years now and thinking about bike packing but how can you carry everything you need for independent living with the small bags that you have loaded?
Hi, I carry a tent, sleeping bag & mat which are all lightweight. I don't take much spare clothing, I have just the shoes I ride in (although I have recently been persuaded to try taking flip flops) and my cooking set up consists just of a small stove/gas cartridge and a mug for boiling water to use with dehydrated food or brew up a coffee. Everything I need for a two or three week trip.

Haha, I use East Sussex roads as training for the rough stuff 😁
Wow, beautiful scenes! Those downhill sections are always so enjoyable... bliss!
Yup. I work hard to get up so I'm definitely going to enjoy the downs 😁

Thank you. This was my first time in Macedonia. Loved it, especially the plateau in the Galicica National Park 😁

@@spsallidas yes it was close to the top of the tarmac road so probably the same one 👍🏻

Great cycling journey
Cool trip, every bone in my body is aching just watching this. Amazing but there’s no way I’d get Sandra to anything remotely like that! 😮❤👍
How many miles did you cover?
Thanks Mark. There's no way my wife would either 🤣 We rode 1,050km with 16,000m of climbing
Really want to go there now 👍🍀

beautiful places. and no ""epic suffa suffa" talking why we cycle.
Awesome trip. You have inspired me to do something similar. Who did you fly with please. Was it easy to take the bike? Any problems camping?

Great trip mate and awesome footage. What camera did you use?
Thank you 🙏🏼
Used a GoPro Hero 11. Not had it long and very pleased with the results. A big step up from the Hero 4 I lost in the sea 😂
such a great video steve. I am planning something similar for next month!! Did you guys just camp along the way?? How was the temperature?
I meant to say, did you camp the whole way?

I didn't notice 😉
