Absolutely stunning... bet Hank won't believe his ears..and eyes.....it's totally THE sound I am trying to achieve past 30 years but...nix! Really you are just too too Hank !
Hi Robby - That was a really authentic sound and playing spot on. Other than the Shads original - I've only heard one other band get that sound and that was The Rapiers. They also use flat wound strings now. Great upload.. Cheers Phil

Fantastic my friend; I am looking for the same guitar as you. I hope to reach „ that sound „ Where did you buy your Guitar ? CS NOS’56 ???. You’re a great player man.
Hi Ivan, as I described on the other reply to you, the guitar was assembled from parts not a cs56. This is much cheaper than the custom shop ones but I think is as good! Regards, Robby
+ivan hector demarez Hi Ivan, I use vox tonelab amp simulator for all my recordings. It has very authentic vox tone. Echo on this one is Australian made TVS3 echo, which I think the most authentic echo simulating vintage Meazzi and vox echoes. I also use a vintage Vox Long Tom tape echo from 1963. You are by far the best guitarist concerning the version of Shadoogie 1961 ! Its perfect ! Have you played The Savage , the original version on record , not the live versions ? If so can we see it ? Thanks ! Keep on rockin' ... !
Great , I will listen to your version of The Savage which I think is the most difficult to find the correct notes ! Thanks anyway for your work Robby ! I used to have your Vox Echo Long throw which is the correct echo for Wonderful land ! Good day !
You play that very good and well, but where does the beautiful SOUND come from man ? Are there changes in the Guitar ?? Thank you very match for reply. Ivan Hector Demarez

Hi robby great ok mate.i have a version i did a few years ago it sounds good but the recording quality is not as good as yours would you like to see it????
suaragitar ah right ok thanks the only channel i have now to subscribe to is this one thanks .are you a member of any shadows forums.im on perth shadows
+Joe May Thanks Joe. I was looking to buy a Strat that was similar to Hank's first Strat. And it's very hard to find on the market and the price was very expensive if available. Also most them don't have the correct figuring on the neck (well, at least to my liking). So I decided to put one together, I contacted Alan Brason, sent him photos of birdseye maple necks that I like. He said he'd find the correct woods to match what's on the photos. It turned out to be brilliant! What a luthier! Regards, Robby
suaragitar Hi Robby, thanks for the reply.Ive met Alan many times over the years and rate him very highly as many players do,he really knows his stuff.Im really pleased that you picked Alan for your project.Whats your location Robby ? Joe
Hi Robby; I need that Vox Tonelab and it has a 12AX7 preamp valve in it. But there are different Vox Tonelabs, so witch one ? Thank you for your reply. Ivan
Cade Wookrah hi Cade, neither! Input together this guitar from custom ordered from a luthier in England for the birdseye neck, body from Warmoth. Everything else are genuine Fender parts. And yes I have the "original" Strat in mind for this one. I hope this helps Regards, Robby
Hi Robby , I have a question regarding how to sound as so I can enjoy myself . I have a Yamaha MagicStone and Zoom RFX 2000 and how or what should I do to set up a sound like you , I recording thru Cubase 7 software . Thanks Robby and have a good Monday morning Mike
Hi Mike, I use heavy strings on my guitar, 12-54. On the amp you have to cut the bass, and not too much treble. If you have a equaliser, you can play around with cutting off low frequencies, boost the middle, and cut the treble a little. That should take you to a good ballpark. But playing style is the most important factor here, I pick strings very hard especially for early Shadows tunes. I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on. Regards, Robby
Steve Reynolds Hi Steve, Thanks for for watching and I'm glad you liked it. Sure. Guitar: Strat with Brason neck, brand new D'addario Flatwound Strings 12-52, TVS3 for Echo, Vox Tonelab amp sim, UAD EQ (Low cut) and Reverb for ambience - Abbey Road style. That's about it mate. Message me on FB if you want to have a chat, I'll be happy to discuss more.
Sound and playing as close to the "holy grail" as it can get. Marvelous!
So far this is the best guitarist ever playing shadows hits fabulous RKG👍👍👍👍👍
Could you play Stingray one of shadows hits thanks
I never thought I'd hear myself say it, but I'd argue that this version is better than the original. (And the original is faultless.)
Thanks so much, but you are too kind.
