    Shay, you gotta give love and respect to Brian Mitchell. BMitch is 2nd all-time to the GOAT WR Jerry Rice in all-purpose yards and is ahead of quite a few HoFr's on that list. Might not be electrifying like Hester but was steady and consistent over time.
    "Nobody has ever fielded more returns than Mitchell (1,070), and nobody has ever compiled more return yards (19,013) than he. Only Hester has more career return touchdowns than Mitchell (13).
    While Hester was boom-or-bust on many of his returns, Mitchell always got yardage. He averaged at least 10 yards per punt return in nine seasons and led the NFL in 1994 with 14.1 yards per punt return. He played in 223 of 224 possible games. Nobody did it better."
    Mitchell - 4,999 Punt return Yards/9 TDs; 14.014 Kick return Yards/4 TDs - 13 seasons
    Hester - 3.695 Punt return Yards/14 TDs; 7,333 Kick return Yards/5 TDs - 8 Seasons
    2nd to Jerry Rice in all purpose yards - 23.330 yards; Rice 23,546 yards (Hester 14,455 yards)
    Mitchell should've been in long ago based on the numbers and longevity. Hester too belongs in but not before Mitchell.

      @@Hotobu Based on who’s in the hall of fame, he certainly should get in. he is far and away the greatest to ever play the position. He specialized at position where the primary intent is to give your offense good field position, but he was able to single handled turn those in to points. His return records will never be broken because the game has changed overall to minimize kick returns. The rule change moving the kick-off line up to the 35 is solely because of the impact Devin Hester had on the game.
      By your logic, no special teams players should be in the hall of fame. Kickers can only make field goals when the offense puts them in position. Punters only job is to flip the field. Yet there is already 3 such players in the hall

      @@MiamiU4 You were doing fine until the "by your logic" line and then trying to apply that to kickers. Kickers are put in position to kick by their team. It's a team sport, everyone relies on someone else. Devin Hester, however, relies on the OTHER team to be willing to kick to him. He was a big enough threat to be avoided, ok? What's that worth let's say 10 yards (he only had the highest average return yd per season twice, the most being ~ 17, so giving him 10 yards above average is *extremely* generous). Let's again be generous and say he's kicked to 5 times per game (his average is 2.5 btw), 5*10 = 50. So this "HOF" offensive threat is worth 50 yards per game and

      @HakeemKaree 3 года назад

      @@Hotobu you're judging him as an offensive threat though which is honestly disingenuous. If a DB was so good they only threw near him about 2 times per game, and he averaged 2 pick sixes per season, 11000 yards in interception return yards. That would be a hall of famer. A PR has more in common with a DB than an offensive player which btw he's a DB that they tried to use on offense because his speed and to justify the money.

      @@Hotobu Special teams is a part of the game and it can single handedly win or lose games. Any player who is the best ever at their position should be in the HoF regardless if it's special teams or not.
