This is awesome! People either forget or are too young to know about Sterling! I'm a Cowboys fan, but I always watched Sterling play for GB. He was one of the top 3 to top 5 WR in the entire NFL, along WITH Michael & Jerry. I didn't know about fantasy, but I knew exactly what a winner played like & that's all I ever saw from Sterling Sharpe(who should've been in the HOF years ago).

Funny thing is I am 2 years behind you and I loved the way that they played one thing is true is that it was most definitely a race. Between them both, as much as others, modeled themselves to be like other receiver attributes and accolades 🙌 no one was like these Jerry and Sterling at the wide receiver position. You had cocky, and arrogant players that were good but couldn't show the humility that these 2 had. I could personally have my own list. I was so sure that I myself was going to be in the NFL as we all dream but the league doesn't have what these players had not as talent but true pure hearts. I loved watching these men play because they sat the standard of being professionals. To HBCU's and Some colleges that some athletes get over looked for because academia and financial criteria. As I would list some great WR's. Who aren't even mentioned in Hall Conversations. Sterling Sharpe, Drew Pearson, Irving Fryar, Wayne Chrbet, Andre Rison, amongst others that I could mention but again this would influence on and off field affairs. But we have to look at the attitudes and behaviors of the people who deservingly should be in the HOF. The NFL has become political not the game that it was meant to be whereas the blue collared entertainment that was for men to become community driven.

Not just Terrell. He's not the only exception. Gale Sayers (RIP), Dwight Stephenson...there are multiple great great players with careers cut short to injury that are rightfully in the Hall of Fame. Shannon in seven years has more catches than John Stallworth in 14. He has more yards than Lynn Swann and nearly as many as Tommy McDonald. He has as many touchdowns as MICHAEL IRVIN and Charlie Joiner. It's beyond embarrassing at this point that he's not in. Cliff Branch and Sterling Sharpe should be in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah it’s an interesting balance that has to be struck between domination+time. For instance we could imagine if someone only played one season but that one season was so dominant like the best we’ve ever seen, a guy playing running back and scoring 30 touchdowns plus playing linebacker and leading the league in sacks and tackles something crazy like that but only playing one season and he gets in and then a guy like Eli Manning who was probably never even a top 5 Qb any given season but becomes a household name by being decently good for 18 years or whatever so he gets in too. There’s a balancing scale between that and I think he falls on the good side of that scale.

I loved this! Even shed a few tears. It reminded me of me being raised by my mom and grandparents (we were all in the house together) My grandfather was born 1913 from Fayetteville, GA and my grandmother 1921 from Union Point, Ga. Hard work and being a respectable person was something they instilled in me.

Didn’t realize how amazing Sterling was from a statistical standpoint:
Shannon almost played double the career of Sterling, but Sterling had more touchdowns and more thousand yard seasons. Sterling had 42 touchdowns over his final 3 seasons, including 18 in his last year!

Sterling was a WR while Shannon was a TE. Two different positions, so I’m not sure if that’s a fair comparison. Just my opinion.

TwistedViper215 It’s still double the games with less production. The tight end position isn’t expected to produce to the same as a WR in that regard, but we’re talking about a HOF tight end and arguably top 5 ever to play the position in a sample size that’s literally double. It doesn’t reflect negatively on Shannon, but it speaks to who Sterling was

What a treat! Found this while looking for an NFL Films feature on the Sharpe brothers. (Why isn't that a thing?!) I'm a daily viewer of Undisputed and loved hearing your stories. I'm shocked that Sterling isn't in the HOF. I wish I knew how to start a campaign to rectify that. Best wishes to you both.
