Yeah it’s an interesting balance that has to be struck between domination+time. For instance we could imagine if someone only played one season but that one season was so dominant like the best we’ve ever seen, a guy playing running back and scoring 30 touchdowns plus playing linebacker and leading the league in sacks and tackles something crazy like that but only playing one season and he gets in and then a guy like Eli Manning who was probably never even a top 5 Qb any given season but becomes a household name by being decently good for 18 years or whatever so he gets in too. There’s a balancing scale between that and I think he falls on the good side of that scale.

Funny thing is I am 2 years behind you and I loved the way that they played one thing is true is that it was most definitely a race. Between them both, as much as others, modeled themselves to be like other receiver attributes and accolades 🙌 no one was like these Jerry and Sterling at the wide receiver position. You had cocky, and arrogant players that were good but couldn't show the humility that these 2 had. I could personally have my own list. I was so sure that I myself was going to be in the NFL as we all dream but the league doesn't have what these players had not as talent but true pure hearts. I loved watching these men play because they sat the standard of being professionals. To HBCU's and Some colleges that some athletes get over looked for because academia and financial criteria. As I would list some great WR's. Who aren't even mentioned in Hall Conversations. Sterling Sharpe, Drew Pearson, Irving Fryar, Wayne Chrbet, Andre Rison, amongst others that I could mention but again this would influence on and off field affairs. But we have to look at the attitudes and behaviors of the people who deservingly should be in the HOF. The NFL has become political not the game that it was meant to be whereas the blue collared entertainment that was for men to become community driven.

Many people would doubt the veracity of their story but if you grew up under the care and influence of wise, ethical people...everything makes sense.
