Maybe it’s true that she said she was done and he convinced her to try and after failed attempts she felt it was over and that her marriage was too. Can you imagine trying for kids and not being able to conceive. It’s heart breaking. And finally after she got herself together and saw she was worth more than that she was done. We’re all entitled to change our minds. About having kids, not having them, and wanting to experience that. So yeah that would definitely have the growing apart now. His new girlfriend is 35. Prime baby making years. So if he has them soon, then yeah Sofia wasn’t making stuff up.

Sofía talking like she's 10-20 years older than Joe. She's exactly 4½ years older than him. Its just that she experienced an early pregnancy and early motherhood so she FEELS older now

Maybe that is how she felt, she may have felt that was the reason they were growing apart because she could not give him children. He may not have felt that way but it may have been in the back of her mind. When you can't give the person you love something they wanted that feeling of frailer on your part is still there. That can lead to you growing apart.
I agree. My dad was about 4 years younger than my mom. For some reason my mom always felt too old for my dad. Maybe because she had other children from a previous marriage as well. She would tell dad that he could marry someone younger and have a life he wanted. Which was weird since they had 3 kids together. But something was fundamentally wrong. Now as an adult I see it was moms insecurities brought on by her MIL old fashioned views and moms depression and anxiety. We are our own worst enemies sometimes.

Who knows who is telling the truth. But Sofia sounds sincere saying that she rather be a grandma at her age and let her son bring the baby to her. That sounds realistic. Maybe they are both telling the truth. He said he would stay even if she doesn't want to have children. However, maybe Sofia feels bad about it cause she subconsciously know that he is younger and he wants a family which she can't give. Could be the unspoken truth between them that they didn't resolve.

My mother told me a long time ago to one, don't ever get a tattoo, and two, that couples should never ever gets their spouse's/partner's name or initials tattooed because that automatically guarantees a separation or divorce. Stories like these kind of solidify that old wives' tale.

The truth is: neither one wants to look bad after the divorce, which is understandable considering the line of work they’re in.

There was no reason for her to blab to the media about their divorce or the cause of it regardless of whether she’s telling the truth or not. Since she tried to paint him and his desire for kids as the reason they got divorced, I’m glad he got the chance to tell his side of the story. She should have kept quiet about it to start with, that would have been the mature and right thing to do, IMO.

To be honest, sometimes these things can breed resentment. I know a couple who tried for so many years to have kids and couldn't and think it led to them drifting apart, it happens even if people don't want it to.
Well it one person wants kids and the other person don't want or can't have them that relationship is not fulfilling to at least one person. Don't underestimate the need or want to procreate. And for the person who wants kids, everyday that goes by is a wasted time when he or she could be with someone else who could give him or her what they really want. THAT is what causes the resentment.

Same thing happened to me as it did with Sofia. Ex suddenly after 5 years wanted kids and I never did. After we broke up he continuously denied that as the reason and was telling people lies about me and how I've changed and how we grew apart. Is it really that embarrassing to admit that you were the problem? That you wanted a family and that _you_ are the one who changed? Some people have really hard time taking accountability.
