Great video. I agree on several of your thoughts. 1. Galaxy was wonderful, albeit a bit fragile 2. Discovery Sport was great to drive, and very comfortable, but woefully unreliable. All the emissions stuff (EGR, DPF etc) and electronics were troublesome 3. Kia Carens. We bought one as a stopgap after the Sport, and it's been absolutely fab. It's now v high mileage, but never misses a beat and returns 55-60mpg on motorway runs.
Great video Jim. The death of the MPV is a real shame as I reckon they are still wanted by many families. Maybe means the used mpv market will hold its value though? Just got a used BMW grand tourer myself and i love it.
Had the grand scenic 2006 and did about 100k miles in it from around 50,000 miles to 150,000 miles with on a MAP sensor fault, an interior blower fault (dash out) and handbrake started sticking soon after buying, we lubricated the cables and never had a further issue with it. Got the Touran 1.6 2014 bought on 5000 miles and now on 105,000 miles and very few issues. 2x ABS sensors, master cylinder on clutch and that's about it! Both been great cars
Still running Ford Galaxy 2.3 petrol 2001 , manual straight forward 5 speed, I think I’ve had my monies worth now , built better than what is on the market now , less fragile electrics and complicated auto boxes , engine design ford Scorpio 16 valve dohc
Had a few Renaults, all of them older and all of them should have been nightmared but they actually served us well.... without issue. However, I'm very nervous about these newer 1.6ltr engines... Especially a Grand Scenic on a 1.6... I would jump from the older 1.9's all the way to leasing a new BEV. As the running costs of the BEV is so cheap it offsets the repair costs of older cars.
Would be great to see family SUV’s say 15-20k as this seems a popular price point now considering the list prices now even on the popular KIA/Hyundai models.
Just checked the AUDI Q5 50 TFSI Quattro SLine that you featured on your deals of the day yesterday (3yrs,3months,10K, PHEV=£580.76).....today's "LOCODAYDEAL" = £580.76 🤣
What about the Vauxhall Zafira. I have 1.7cdti (2014) from New… no major bother .. if oil and serviced regular.. great milage 120k and only replaced tyres..EGR needs a yearly clean otherwise a great 7 seater and now cheap as chips..
I’ve known of 2 that caught fire whilst driving and their reputation for reliability is dreadful, should have mentioned them actually but not for good reasons. Glad yours is going well 👍
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Thanks for reply. Never heard of the Fire issues, do you know which model caught fire? Tomorrow whilst out i will get fire extinguisher!!!! Thanks
We had 2006 grand Scenic and the engine fell out we had a wrigh job rejecting it we took the dealer to country crout they rang us on the morning of the casevand paid the full refund.

Congrats Jim on the 49k subs more and more people are seeing how good your vids are
Thank you 🙏
Great video, love the honesty when talking about out these used MPVs.
I appreciate that!
Not in the market for these cars but always enjoy your videos, so thank you for this.
Thanks for watching!
Some really good advice in this video that doesn't just apply to MPV's so well done Jim.
Thank you 🙏

Just got a used BMW grand tourer myself and i love it.
Great choice. I just don’t understand why they went away. Way more practical than an SUV in many cases.
Another great video from Jim. Thanks very much.
Thanks
Jim - Excellent video and very useful 👍
Thank you
Hi Jim I watched your older MPV video under £5k everything in there valid for 2024? Or would you do an updated one? Keep up the great work 👍🏾
I’ll do an updated one at some point mate as I need a bit of a refresh myself!
👍👍👍 49.1k Almost there, just need a few more good people who appreciate good honest advice and info to press the little button. Thanks Jim
Then it’ll be the push to 100k 😂👍👍
100% agree with the Ford Powershift. Knightmare system at under £10k you are buying into "its going to break on you soon"...
Or it possibly already has - biggest issue is some of the faults can be intermittent so not always detectable on a short test drive.
Appreciate the comments on the power shift....but Grand C Max manual? Small galaxy? Any thoughts? Thanks
That Prius+ you showed is a Japanese import. The clue is the green+blue stickers on the rear window.
👍 that’ll be why there were no stats for it in AutoTrader. I did wonder about the wind deflectors too
I wanted a land rover evoke , but your advice has put me off.😊
I’m glad it has 👍

I know what you're saying but isn't it a few horror stories giving a car a bad name rather than the other way round?
👌
It’s not a few mate; I know of a few just in my circle to be fair 👍
Vauxhall Zafira. Had two & neither have ever been any trouble. Tyres, pads, etc, that’s it.
You should buy a lottery ticket 👍
🤔 diesel particulate filter
@@DaveABerry Both of the Vauxhall cars were petrol. 1.6 & the newer 1.4 Turbo Zafira Tourer.
Cheers Jim 👍

Had a Toyota Verso 1.6 petrol manual on an 11 plate. Worth a look. Diesel has better mpg. 1.6 Petrol not very powerful. Reasonably reliable.
Ah yes!

Ah OK
No mention of the Espace? Such a shame the new version won't be released in RHD. The most comfortable car I havd ever owned!
Littered with common faults unfortunately. The new one looks promising but I wish it was a traditional MPV rather than an SUV.

What about the seat alhambra?
Yep, some known reliability issues but a decent car.
@ what is in your opinion the best used mpv for around 25k€?
İt should carry 6 adults
Probably a Galaxy
