Question .. not that I'm sure it would make a difference.. but I noticed the boom tubes are coming out on different spots on cars .. is there a reason or is just because of the chassis design?
My thinking is for aero reasons. The hot exhaust from previous gens might cause turbulence jetting out the way they were before. With the new angled/ tear drop might improve laminar flow along the body, helping the rear diffuser be more active.
It's what Luis said, they were farther back, but interior temps were 150+ Degrees. Very hot under the seat, they're trying different things to get it cooler in the car.

theres a lock on the nut so it cant back off if its left loose. itll vibrate but it wont come off.
@@kylemoore9626 ahh, I sincerely hope that lock has a 0% fail rate.
We've had these in ozz for years ..now wait for the pneumatic car lift system..check out v8 supercars
This is nothing new. Indy Car and F1 technology. And those cars have more horsepower
I wish they would take aero away and make the drivers drive the cars.
Can't do that because than the no talent drivers won't have a job
@@garypic4083 mmmm English good
They did take a lot of the aero away though.
this car has way less aero downforce, the big spoiler sucks, but the sideforce is gone, the cars are symmetrical now, they still have too much grip, but its mechanical grip from the bigger tires, and better suspension, hopefully we see tire fall off affect the cars more because of this, with the current car even with worn out tires they have so much aero downforce they can hold it wide open almost the whole turn, maybe with this car when the tires wear theyll have to lift hopefully.
Slick modern racing car design but need more power speed.
Hope everyone is ready for the worst cup race season ever it's going to be a real yawnfest, I'm surprised they didn't put AUTOMATIC transmissions in em
They have taken this kind of racing to a new low, its been a slow demise for years now, the snowball derby is the new king of stockcar racing
Would be cool to see how fast they can do this just stopping for tires
What is the light under the left rear bumper shining on the ground?
It is a slip angle sensor. It measures car speed and direction to help measure slip and give more details on the balance of the car and what the tires are are doing.
@@mindcrime828 Just for testing correct?
@@thelillards correct
I love the single lug.
stfu and go look at boring F1, then!
@Jo Jo What’s so boring about f1?
@@brendenhirsch1932 it was better with fuel change, there wasn't more passing on track, but it made for some fun pit strategies.
Also, I hate that new halo, I think something better could've been made (think of a window that would only rise when debris is on the track or in case of caution or accident, keeps the "open wheel" spirit).
A moving window could be too slow and potentially break. The halo has already saved lives.
@@NoTraceOfSense NASCAR racecars, which can go above 200mph, have frontshields. Something with glass, or plexiglass, or whatever, could be made for OW's, so they STAY open wheel.
As for it being too slow, a push of the button by a race commissioner as soon as debris is reported would work fine.
Wanna save lives hey? stop doing dangerous sports then! better yet, don't bear children, that way, nobody can die?
They need to mask off the quarter windows correctly. They look like 1999 Chevy Cavaliers.
So how's the fuel man timing gonna work, do the cars get less fuel, or will they make faster filling necks. Or engineers take that into account
We should see faster pit stops. Hell, with just a four tire change, we might see F1 type times for pit stops. Faster pits stops means more racing on the track.
F1 pitstops are fast because you have 14 people out there on the car.
They’re also 2-3 seconds.
pitstop looks really fast
What was the right front tire guy on the number 3 car doing? Wheel nuts are usually reverse thread left to tighten right to loosen at least on sprint cars.
What’s the pit stop times look like now?
Based on this video...looks like 6-7 minutes 😂
Pit stops have remained about the same 12-14 second average, they still have to wait on the gas man & the lug nut has to be torqued longer but if its a tire only stop i assume it will be 1 or 2 seconds faster! watch last weeks Dale jr Download they have Austin Dillon & one of the top next gen Chevy engineers on the show answering alot of those good questions!
@@nevadaboy9769 thanks for the info! I was curious since the tires are like the other motor sports racing series now.
They look so slow! I feel sure I’ve seen cars pass my house going faster than the 3 car was going. It looked like it was doing 45 mph on the backstretch.
Bc it basically was lol. They told Dillon to run low bc they were testing something in the wheel well
You do realize this was a pit stop practice right? Go look at the video of them running at full speed.
@@Mike45-47Q But they look so slow! I’ve watched the videos and the lives of the next gen practices from yesterday and today. They look super slow. Maybe I’ll get used to it. I’m not the only one saying this, so I know it’s not just me. It’s gonna be super boring if there’s no bump drafting and they can’t pass, etc. They may look faster on some of the short tracks. Just my opinion.
@@coppha3037 Like it’s gonna make any difference one way or the other. It’s Dillon. Lol
@@Mike45-47Q I found another video where they look much faster, thank goodness. I stand corrected, to you and Colin above who commented on Dillon’s car. Im glad to be wrong. I was worried Daytona was gonna be a bust.
I see a light on the ground behind the back left tire. What is that
These teams gonna have to learn how to deal with a whole new problems with the wheel nuts
I liked the old rim style more. I think it is das that it is gone.
That might be my favorite part. What's not to love? It looks STOCK.
@@Mike45-47Q It just looks awesome I think. I mean the old rims
@@Vixen1525 Nope these look better. They are a taller rim. Maybe 18's. Just like all new mustangs and challengers.
Wait till the day when we see the electric car come into the pits and we have to wait 30 minutes for it to recharge....
Nah, they'll do some sort of battery swap, much more exciting that way.....
Gen 1 Formula E:
swap the whole damn car
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
So with the lower HP...what's Daytona top speed gonna be..180...
The 550 package is only for the intermediates. Daytona and Talladega have their own package.
Yeah It'll be 180...kph, they want to turn the sport European just look at the cars.
Cars were inspired by the Aussi v8: series and imsa gtlm cars
@@charlesanzalone5846 the point is NASCAR is its own entity, it needs to stop trying to pretend it's something else.
I agree number back a little. I other wise cars look good.
We will get used to the number placement. Give it time.
Who could say it, the next gen race cars of Cars 3 Actually happens
Why don't they want to make an assymetrical exhaust like on the gen 6 cars?
They had symmetrical exhaust on the Gen-4 cars.
That’s about as exciting as watching paint dry. There was nothing wrong with 5 lugs
5 lugs is so out dated. Get with the times.
Do they have to check them if there tight now or just for this test
Hitting all 5-Lug Nuts as Quickly as Possible was the Art of Pit Road.... I really do not like the direction they're going. And then there's the Number Placement.... Sure I'm a Traditionalist, but this is one of the many reasons why NASCAR is going in the Wrong Direction. First it was the Removal of Carburetor and the Analog Gauges and now this and I haven't gotten to the bashing of the removal of the manual transmission! If you can't Drive a Stick you Shouldn't be Allowed to Race! To me with my Bias, this Car has No Soul...
I dont like how theres a single lug nut it makes it less entairtaining to watch but hey at least faster pit stops.
More horsepower please!
im cool with the new cars and all , but please put the door numbers back where they were!! it makes the car look stupid!!!
Now the pitstops sound like gt cars
What is the light by the left rear ? You can see it shine on the asphalt on byrons car as hes leaving the pits
Yes! We asked the same!… Cat laser pointer?
Leftovers from the all-star race at bristol?
Someone left there flashlight in the car
They are optical lasers/scanners. Measuring heights as they go along the track
The light behind the cars is a slip angle sensor. It measures car speed and direction to help measure slip and give more details on the balance of the car and what the tires are are doing.
Waiting for the next step of seeing an in car jacket system like in indie car,Jackman can be used to hook up the hose
Looking good
5 lug is so 1950. Be waiting on the fueler from now on.
Cool!
Reduction in horse power does this mean they can dump the restrictor plate that would be great!
It's been a spacer, the plate has been gone for a little while now
I hope Honda would join NASCAR
It very weird not hearing the 5 lugnuts sounds instead it Just 1 but those stops were alright getting used to the new Era Nascar is bringing with testing this new car which looks 🐌 driving 🚗 on a 1.5 track with no lifting
Xfinity, Trucks, and ARCA will still have five lugnuts.
Ngl the new nascars arnt how they should be when everyone thinks of nascar they think of the cars from the late 90’s early 2000’s I think they should go back to that
When are we gonna get formula style stops with these new setups? Imagine races off pit road when everyone's stop is just 5 seconds long!
No this is america not some import racing .
It’s official guys ! This is the day nascar took the stock out of stock car racing hey anyone remember the goofy aero wing days that took a dump on itself ?
Question .. not that I'm sure it would make a difference.. but I noticed the boom tubes are coming out on different spots on cars .. is there a reason or is just because of the chassis design?
Dual exhaust. Front and rear of seat options. Both I believe front option will be the one used do to the heat under the seat with the rear option.
Looks basically the same as supercars but a bit slower with only one side done at a time
I like the new bodies , look more relevant ,hope they can race good
These cars are starting to look more like SCCA sedan class cars more than stock cars . It will be interesting to see how these aluminum rims fare in a crash , will they break or bend like steel ?
It'll probably bend because it's also a ductile material. Won't fail in normal tensile or compressive loads
I am worrying about how the rims will hold up to 500 miles of hard driving on speedways.
The tire changers are going to hit the same Lugnut 5 times every time hHaha
Is it February yet?? 😭
Cannot wait.

The Pitstops look really awkward to me... a bit faster but just plain awkward
wow those pit stops would be much faster.
This is the future of NASCAR Racing
NASCAR listen to your fans and go back to regular number placement. It looks horrible, and we have liked it how it has been for the last 60 years. Your not “fixing” anything that has been fine the way it’s been. Had ANYONE complained about old number placement? No. Has anyone complained about new number placement? Yes. Everyone. So stop joking around and take yourself seriously.
We want to make them more like the street version because all those street models have one lug with sequential transmissions. Btw we will also reduce power to the “race cars” to less then what a zl1 Camaro makes from the factory even though a few seasons ago the race cars made about 900hp. That’s what fans want less power
Is there less commercial adds ?
Looks awesome
