I ABSOLUTELY 👍 AND DEARLY LOVE ❤️ THE SOUND OF THE ENGINES!!!!!!!! I’m almost 58 years old and have been a lifelong NASCAR FAN ever since I got to see my first ever NASCAR race when I was just 4 years old!!!!!!!!
Really hoping they pick up speed. They were only turning laps in the low 180's much of the week. As a guy that grew up watching 1980's NASCAR in the 210mph range, I at least want to see these guys running low to mid 190mph. That speed is exciting to watch.
That's when I started watching it too, I agree I hate the big bunched packs where everyone is just stuck and then the whole field gets wrecked out at every plate race. I'd rather they go faster and spread out somewhat, it'd be safer too even though it'd be faster. It was awesome in the 80's when they'd slingshot into the corners and then chase the car up the track. They'd really use up the whole track in the turns then, right on the edge of control and wouldn't even think of going 3 wide. They should knock a few inches off those enormous spoilers they're using.
@@LankyTurtle that’s why I prefer the truck series at Daytona and talladega over cup cars. They can still sling shot and spread out a little bit. They have some of the best racing finishes because of it at those tracks
I checked online at the practice results. Not sure if they were in groups but practice 3 had lap times in the 195mph range. These cars as per usual will go faster in packs than in singularity. My guess is that they will be right around 198-204mph. Going to be exciting for sure. Also I learned that they added flaps to the bottom of the cars to try and help them stay grounded. The whole belly if the car is now flat not open like last gen for those who didn't know. Let's go racing boys!
They could have. But I would think they knew it wasn’t a race, nobody wanted to wreck, or cause a wreck that could potentially injure someone. So they weren’t going full speed, all out. Just enough to get a good feel for the car. I’m sure we will 190 speeds during speed week and into the 500
I'm going to be heading up north to daytona this weekend cause my pro late model team owner is gonna test for the arca menards series. I wish I could have seen the next gens, but I'm gonna be there for the Dixie vodka 400, can't wait to see these cars in action.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Turtle. It looks like there are a lot of spectators there. Do a lot of people normally show up for testing? or is it because of the new car?
They haven't had testing open to the public at Daytona for several years, and when they did allow spectators it was just one small section of grandstand that was open. This is the first time I know of that they've let people in the infield for testing.
Not going to lie I really like the sound of these cars. I thought I would hate it since I LOVED the glorious Gen 6 high pitched sound. But the deep rumble these have almost throw it back to the early 2000’s for me. So nasty!
They lost the symmetry of the schemes, which is why they look awkward. These cars are ugly as sin. I wonder how long that change will stay? Since the majority of fans hate it.
It's definetely grown on me. I like it centered more, but sadly it was bound to happen. NASCAR isn't as popular as it once was and sponsors want more space to compensate for it.
I think they were slower in the test there. NASCAR always tries to keep them below 200mph in the draft. They can change the regulations for the rear spoiler size and angle if they want to speed them up or slow them down.
@@LankyTurtle i will miss this one but maybe for next 2023. will come with my son.........for now we are at Indianapolis and Road America events.......fair enough😀
I’m using good headphones and this sounds amazing. It sounds like I’m there. This sound is always filtered out with tv cameras. They should use this sound for broadcast
That's to increase air flow in the cockpit for better cooling. In the first test sessions there was an issue with heat inside the car. They also moved the exhaust forward as well.
Im kinda hoping nascar goes back to racing actual production cars again. How many people are actually buying brand new cars with V8s? Mopar does not even do V8s anymore. Seeing actual production cars race the nascar oval would have more people watching races these days.
Hey logano had a Ford sticker on the hood. Only way you tell what's what. Its iroc racing. How does Stewart/ Hass not send atleast one car to test ??? Tony is lost in Pruett n NHRA. That team is going to struggle again.
Cars look like crap. They have steered so far away from what it's supposed to be. This ain't the racing I grew up on. I have never missed a daytona race I was even in a comma 2 days before the race I didn't miss that one either. I'm not watching anymore of it
As a European I have to say that those engine noise are glorious and I wish we had more of them on the old continent.
They haven't sounded like that since the big block days. Yes I'm old enough to remember.

This is what nascar sounds like at full throttle
Excited about that duel exit exhaust, should be able to hear them scream through almost the whole track now!

My uncle/ OSLM car owner Larry Zent drove in arca years ago! Btw, your car has a very nice paint job!
They CAN draft. Good stuff, Turtz.
The next gen is looking a lot better than I thought. Maybe it will be a success
That #1 look beautiful and your camera work is so steady it’s insane

Haha!
I’m excited for this next gen car! They sound louder than last gen!
Yeah I really like the way they sound now!

Amazing camera work, for real 🏁
Thanks!
I noticed they have a bigger antenna in them. Is that because crews where having issues with their radios at the bigger tracks
Great coverage , thanks for posting this up .

I’m still not completely sure. It’s starting to grow on me. RFK racing’s castrol livery looks sick.

The hood buffeting on Denny's car at 0:43 looks a little extreme.
22 was doing the same thing. I remember some of the later Twisted Sister cars doing that but not that extreme.
its the roof flaps
They seem to be racing nicely in tje pack, love it!

What kind of wheels they got on those things, look like they got them off a cadillac.

Best looking car nascar has come up with I think.
What off season?! Great video thanks.
Sound good. Look slow. The door (I guess fender now) number placement not being in line with the roof number is just ridiculous.
They changed the wheels too?
yup went from 15in to 18in and one lug now.
