What poisonous comments. It is wonderful to see and hear young and good musicians, who know they're good, simply enjoying making music, and so giving extra to their audience. Purcell would have delighted in their efforts. Yes, they have hammed up his work, but with SUCH STYLE.... Probably as an encore. Is it the counter tenor voice your cannot cope with? Manhood threatened?
Wonderful!, I have listen it for the first time!, and it had been played 6 years ago! What had happened with me not having listen before? and with Emmanuelle Haïm ! AMAIZING, thanks so much!
OH MY O MY!!! WONDERFULLLLLLLLL It is a cuban popular song "Manisero no te acuestes a dormir sin comprar un cucurucho de mani" Thanks for uploading this jewel!
Fantastic!!!! I don't understand these serious responses. Don't you people get it? Don't take yourself too seriously please and enjoy!!! That's what they do!
Magnifique! Magnifique!
I First thought that it was gonna be horrible But then it began to have swing and fun in it, and what I saw was that the tenors (don't judge me on that ) had fun Which is the most important thing in music, not to proof your superiority in the arts of music
attribute that to the genius of Purcell. He had both voices weaving in and out and around each other, but one voice doesn't drown the other out. A modern rhythmic interpretation just goes to show that music has no end; it always leaves room for reinterpretation.
I would guess that this was performed as an encore at the end of a concert where the traditional version may have been performed. It was not intended to replace the traditional version but rather a light-hearted rendition which was that was meant to take the audience by surprise. It was the last thing they expected at the end of a concert of serious music and, judging from their applause, they enjoyed it, their surprise only adding to their enjoyment. In short, it was not only very clever and well-performed but, boring old queeny perfectionists take note, intended not to be taken seriously but funny - which it was.
This was an extract from a marvellous concert celebrating baroque music with Emannuelle Haim conducting Here is the full concert: ruclips.net/video/Ki_hVJJEv-Q/видео.html
I thought it was charming. A fun version of Purcell. What better to take on the road ? I wouldn't record it but I'm sure the audience was overwhelmed. Opera can be funny too you know.
Brawo!!!
this song was in my GCSE Music Exam I can't quite remember what the questions where but we had to listen to thing song and answer 2 or 3 questions on it. I found this song really catchy I might be into metal but I do love Classical music
Only person brought here by Quentin Smirhes 😅 love the way it starts off all serious then everyone gets caught up in it like they were being controlled by Paul McKenna or something 😅👍
How wonderful to see an artist in white tie. One forgets the elegance of formal music.

Beautiful and joyful music. Purcell rocks!
Absolutely wonderful!! Music should be about joy!!
MAGIQUE.

Clever, fun, enjoyed immensely! Do more of these arrangements and rock music venues will start losing money haha
Philippe Jaroussky & Pascal Bertin & Emmanuelle Haïm & Le Concert d’Astrée = amazing !!!
I was NOT expecting that to happen.
I was expecting at least one trumpet tbh
Great!
Quelle fraîcheur !!! 😄😂
Étonnant et sympa, bravo : continuez comme ça !!! 😄
El manicero!!! Una hermosa canción latinoamericana. ¡Gracias por este bello regalo!
I nominate this tune all media should play as soon as the Corona nightmare ends. What a joyful piece of music to take up again the thread of life!
Brilliant made me chuckle out loud. Wonderful.
J'ADORE, chapeau bas à toute l'équipe

yes and deeply horrible it is too
Margriet Kamphuis Perhaps you don't understand serious music either
Magnifique! Magnifique!
BRAVO !!!
Enjoyed this show!
I remember doing music GCSE and this piece of music was in the exam and I always liked it even though I am a heavy metal fan

Simply terrific!

Amazing!!!!
You should really mention the name of the other countertenor in the title: Pascal Bertin.
+Eric Mentzel Thanks, I have been searching.....
Bertin is probably the most "English" of French countertenors in sound. Damien Guillon has a simply gorgeous voice.
IT WAS MENTIONED..
And this one of the chef, and of the orchester
True...
Cheers! Bravo!
so uplifting!
What a fantastic music 🎶

It was "une fête baroque" to le théâtre des champs Elysées (19/12/2011)
I did not see that coming!
Fantastico!!
