what I like most about l'Arpeggiata is, that the musicians seem to enjoy playing, which is, to my idea, just as important as the listener enjoying it. I love it !
Agree, and they seem to put this little "je-ne-sais-quoi" in whatever they play, so you immediately hear it's L'Arpeggiata performing. The cornettoplayer is brilliant!
What a magnificent performance ! Seemingly effortless from each to a man...I note too the violinist has no chin rest and leans the right hand side of the violin body on the shoulder, and uses the baroque bow as well...very interesting indeed! The bass has NO break. Well done and of course the flawless harp solo...
This splendid piece has been on my rotation for sometime. It is joyful, spirited, and engaging music by a group of consummate musicians who're masters of their craft. I've heretofore been unfamiliar with l'Arpeggiata and am thankful for this eloquent introduction. Kudos to those who captured this performance as it captures the seamless interplay between members of the ensemble. Merci y Gracias!
I like this performance because the performers are in sync and are not as distracting like other videos I've seen of this piece. I love the pristine delicacy of the Harp rendition..
I am amazed that someone put together this crazy ensemble of renaissance instruments, bongos, jazz bass, and various other assorted things. An original take on this piece!
Just a small correction to your statement. With all due respect. There are no bongos present in this piece and there is no thing such as a "jazz bass". What you are confusing for bongos are typical hand percussion drums which have no name because they are a very generic type of drum with no particular known origin in contrast with a Cuban bongo which has two drums attached to one another. And the "Jazz Bass" is really a Double bass also called Contrabajo in spanish. A very typical instrument used in Spain and its colonies at the time when fandango was made.
@@mecha1gold There are possibly no instruments here that didn’t exist when Fandango was composed mid 18th century. In the credit info, the hammered dulcimer is called a Cuatro, but when I searched on Margrit Übellacker’s name, I see that it is also referred to as a Panteleon, named after Panteleon Hebenstreit, the inventor of a large, chromatic dulcimer. This is one of my very favorite pieces. I am very happy to have discovered this rendition on RUclips!
@Harold Anderson Catholicism crated more art, philosophy and culture than all other religions altogether. Pay some respect. I am an atheist, but can't stand the inherent WASP racism. You can't even control it, damn!
@Harold AndersonI suggest you study some of the calvinist inquisitors, to give you an example of modern religious crimes. Or the KKK, which is proudly protestant and it's still "working"... after that, I suggest you study some about Vitoria, Suárez, Mariana, Ricci and all the catholic philosophers of rhe 16th century. You will be surprised. Or you can keep hanging to all those common places and not-so-well-hidden racism against southern europeans. That's what it is. I will enjoy the catholic culture... as well as sufi persian music, anglican hymns or whatever human cultures achieved. Avoiding to judge other cultures for facts that happened centuries ago. And maybe worry about what happens now. For example, all the "business" that many protestant nations do around the world.
Wow! I was simply unprepared to become so fully wrapped up in every note played. My ears and eyes were fully engaged. Such style of music is uncommon for me, which made this immersion particularly exhilarating and wondrously satisfying. Such all-around mastery! Thank you.
Encore
Guaooooo!!! Hermosísimo! No tengo palabras!!
I have such a crush on Veronica Scuplik- the way she dances the violin. her mood changes with the music- very natural and unpresumptuous. But the psalterion is the underdog- Elizabeth Seitz. IMO.... Pluhar is an extra-natural genius in arranging music like this. Seriously warp-talented.
Normally Veronika (violin) captivates me with her smile - just a little one at 8m38. But this time it was the Harpist who won my heart at 4m32 with her huge smile; and two little smiles at 6m23 and 8m20
@@dottiedavis355 It may seem so, since he leans into the camera so much; but his instrument is very commanding in its tone, especially with the bell of the instrument bent in the violinist's direction, it must be very distracting.
¡Gracias!
A lot of South American folk genres sound very similar to this. Chacarera, zamacueca come to mind. Also the song Sube a nacer conmigo hermano by Los Jaivas
I think he was meaning that he preferred the original version for harpsichord solo. This is an arrangement for an ensemble of early instruments which probably would never have played together at the time. The effect (rather wonderful, but entirely anhistorical) is a little like improvisational jazz.
One of the greatest achievements within this piece is Ms. Pluhar's vision of the Mediterranean instruments converging as I imagine they did. The region is responsible for a great melding and sharing of cultures, customs and ideas throughout world history. Her arrangements are carefully honed with a seemingly generous amount of sharing within the ensemble.

I fully agree. A really tight ensemble!
I really enjoy watching them perform. They are obviously having fun.

Einfach toll!
To Try to pick the best performer within this magnificent group of musicians is absurd, they are all sublime. Christina thank you! Thank you!

I keep coming back to this performance all the time. The entire ensemble takes Soler to new heights.
I would have been jumping out of my chair the whole time. It's too good.
Simply magnificent. Thank you Christina!
And dancing

That is an AMAZING ensemble.
MARAVILLOSA INTERPRETACION! FRESCA Y ALEGRE, DESDE QUE CONOCI A LARPEGGIATA, NO PASA UN DIA QUE NO LA ESCUCHE!

So wonderful‼️
La arpista parece muy buena, es verdad.

Yes, but most importantly, Padre Soler's music (He was a catholic father, like Vivaldi)

Bravissimo!

I’ve noticed her, too. I don’t think she likes the cornetto player much.

Just a joy to hear and watch, and certainly the musicians are enjoying it. Great!
What a fantastic music by this orchestra. Lucky Parisiens who could attend this performance.
¡Qué delicadeza! ¡maravilloso!
Großartiges Arrangement! Dankeschön!
Bravo Magnifique
Powerfully gentle yet tantalizing and celebrational
An impressive array of instrumentation, splendidly engaged. Gracias!
Que bò i què modern era Antoni Soler! . I quina grandíssima interpretació .

The recording and mix is impeccable! Stellar placement of microphones!
Excellent! Great energy. Very entertaining. Bravo!
Brilliant combination - thanks so much. Loving this.
Vivas.
