In a word....YES!!!! My dad was never able to fully conquer his alcoholism, even up until his death at the ripe old age of 59! Tbh, it felt like I was going through it with him as I was growing up, but I have broken the cycle!
My father was an alcoholic on and off (mostly on) since he was 19 when he had me. He had just picked it back up alongside going insane (paranoia and violent threats) when he passed away at 39 in 2020. I promised myself I'd never fall into it, and despite a miriad of mental health problems I am dealing with, alcohol is not addictive to me nor do I ever really want to drink

Im a recovering alcoholic that kicked the habit on my own. But when Jelly says "My name is Jason" it struck me to my core.
Coming from an alcoholic trying to get better, this song has made me cry ten times over every time I hear it….
