- Follow along with Dr. Mike to learn how to massage the quad muscles! Aptly named, the quads encompass 4 muscles: the rectus femoris, the vastus lateralis, the vastus intermedius, and the vastus medialis. 👀
Start right above that kneecap and get in there with the thumbs to massage the tendon. (Note to Massage Therapists worried about Doc Mike’s thumbs-don’t be.) 🫢
Next, use some lotion and run the heel of the hand up the muscles. Alternate hands, and stop on any tight spots to work out the knots. If you’ve got a resilient partner, try getting in there with a forearm or elbow. Move to the outside and target that chronically tight IT band. Then move on to the adductor muscles of the inner thigh and even up to that crabby TFL if it suits you.
Leave no muscle unturned. Get in there and give your hard-working partner some relief. 😅And yes, you can massage your own quads too so no whining about being solo. You’ve got this! 🤝

Do the traps and scapula next. I know someone that needs this.
OMG! 😂😅 you're awesome. This was great and informative!
Huge kudos, well done.
Heaps of best wishes!
Any tips for people with rheumatoid arthritis ?
Do you have any videos coming on it band relief?
Nice
😂. Very informative and waaaay funny too 🍹👍🏾
What does pushing on the muscle do? Why would a person do this?
You really don't know what a massage is?
@@micahandjessi I am just unsure why the Deep Pressure? Is it best to do this really deep? I really needed this video so Thank you!!!
It's only good if it's deep @@fakename3042
I have constant pain on the outside of my leg from hip to knee... WHT th fuuu is that?
Could be a tight IT band. If your IT band is chronically tight, it could be due to weak hip/glute abductors and/or over pronation in the foot. We help people address both in our membership.
🤣
Interesting videos and very well made and informative, but there are six quadriceps muscles, not four:
1. vastus intermedius
2. vastus medialis longus (VML)
3. vastus medialis obliquus (VMO)
4. vastus lateralis
5. articularis genus
6. rectus femoris
The VML has diagonal fibers, so it is involved in knee extension. The VMO fibers are more perpendicular to the knee. As such, when the VMO contracts, it pulls the knee inward. An isolation exercise for the VMO would be to sit on a bench, stabilize your upper leg, and rotate your lower leg diagonally as if kicking a soccer ball.
Lol😂❤
