Beautiful, but false rythms in the first minutes....comfortable, but without urgency in the beginning. The further then gets brilliant with a bit of grandseigneur...

The 'tempo' is typical Ravel, and flows from a 5/4 onward. As for the 'feeling ' of the piece, it strikes everyone independently I suppose. To me this is a transcendent feeling.

It's SO nice to hear Tzigane as a piece of music instead of some pure virtuoso showpiece, and the interaction between Capuçon and the incredibly well played amazing orchestration made this a great musical performance. THANK YOU, BRAVO and CHEERS! :=)

Looking for the meaning of the Bulgarian word “tzigane” I found this. I’ve never heard this before but it wonderfully captures the tzigane=gypsy.

The recordings of this orchestra are always awsome! I joined this concert but must admit that it didn’t sound that good at all in the Alte Oper. The solo parts were hard to hear (ppp were completely lost in space) and the balance between orchestra and the solo parts were actually quite disappointing. But in this recording it sounds as it should sound.

@@AJ-eh5kn I'm not going to review all recordings and live concerts I've ever listened to to compare what's the "cleanest" or most "in tune" version of them all. All I'm trying to express is that this interpretation really speaks to me and he makes the chords really "understandable", unlike any other interpretation I've ever listened to, and I've studied music and heard this piece a lot of times.

None has ever noticed the main theme, after the harp appegios and solo cadenza can be matched with Paganini Caprice number 24. Both themes can be played simultaneously. If you do not understand this fundamental principle, you will never play a good Tzigane... Ginette Neveu understood it all.

Wahrlich faszinierend!
