wow there is a lot of difference between 2 "similar" basic entities in Creo. huge advantage for using the external sketches. Thank you, this was helpful
I have a pattern of a feature that uses an external sketch. I need to make the sketch internal. In a non-pattern feature that's easy, just edit the feature , placement unlink. Is there a way to do this for a patterned feature?
I definitely like external sketches and use them almost always! Most of our legacy parts were modeled by folks who used internal sketching- is there any way to break those sections out to an external sketch?
It is not, which is another reason external sketches are better - they have the flexibility to be changed to internal, but internal cannot become external.
@@CADPLMGuy Thanks for the reply! I used to work with Inventor where you could "Share" or "Unshare" a sketch which I thought was pretty good! Your advice for using the tree filter will work fine for me. Thanks!

Thanks for watching and commenting. Most people tend to prefer internal sketches but I think external is the way to go.

This is very good... Thanks for all the details! One question... Is it possible to convert an internal sketch to an external? Thanks
