    They may not be historically accurate, but they sure know how to take on overwhelming odds. Today we're building the Spartans from 300
    We do a deep dive to find the best ways to build out these warriors from the minds of Frank Miller and Zack Snyder

    Couldn't avoid making a video about these absolute units, some of the most iconic ancient soldiers from Sparta and the stylized world of 300

    Damn, imagine a party with 2 of these, a their rogue, an abjuration wizard, and a War cleric

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 года назад +4

      adding in an Abjuration Wizard would be so nuts with all of the blocking abilities. Overall this would be one hell of a party.

    Ancestral Guardian is the best subclass for this. When you rage, you can summon your own phalanx of ancient hoplite ghosts to help defend your allies.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  Год назад +14

      Ohhhh I didn't think of that, it's such a solid idea for your own personal phalanx

      Now I am torn with getting totem of the wolf, but getting ur own phalanx sounds so cool.

    • @MagusAgrippa8
      @MagusAgrippa8 Год назад +3

      The wolf totem works best when you have a party of fellow Spartans, while the ancestral guardians works best when you’re the only one left.

    Another interesting way of doing it would have been to get Pole Arm Mastery (yes, it works with spears) for one more attack with the butt of the spear.
    If you want a more historically accurate Hoplite, basically do the same thing but use medium armour. This allows you to keep your Dex at 14 (or maybe 16 if you also get Medium Armour Mastery). That way you don't have to invest as much in Dex so you can afford PAM and the Tough feat.

      They'd definitely get MAM irl, but idk if there's enough ASI to go around for that

    Played a wolf totem barbarian with my feral halfling. She was one of my favorite support-attacker hybrids, using her Rage to empower her Fighter and Paladin partners with advantage on attacks. The three of them held any line between their combined offensive and defensive prowess.
    Because Gar was raised by wolves, she also wielded her scimitar in her mouth and ran on all fours when she was raging. It was incredibly fun flavor.

    This is gonna be good I kinda wanna take the unarmed fighting style for sick spartan kicks I could probably fit it in somehow maybe if I roll my stats high enough I could replace an ability score with a feat to grab that as well as protection

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  Год назад +2

      That's exactly why I always get nervous when my players roll for stats lol

  • @markvaughan7530

    Personally, I'd take 5th level in Barbarian instead of Fighter 1. Doing this means that you get your second swing much earlier, as well as the Fast Movement ability, which makes your speed 40. And I'd consider taking Barbarian 6, because you get your second Path feature and step up to 4 rages between rests.

    Leonidas himself would have bard levels instead of fighter levels, possibly colledge of lore since while he is known not only to lead his people but also demorilize his enemies, plus he would have charisma out the wazoo

    Strictly from an optimization POV, I really, *REALLY* loathe the idea of waiting for level 9 to get a second attack. I believe I would either go straight to barbarian 5 (accepting the duplication of Extra Attack and the loss of one ASI) or go barbarian 1/fighter 5/barbarian 4/fighter ...

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  11 месяцев назад +2

      You would just have to use it as the first feat, which might leave one of your stats a little lacking, but you should still get pretty close to the same result

    • @zander1046
      @zander1046 11 месяцев назад +1

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@zander1046 actually now that I think about it, I would definitely recommend not bothering with the shield master feet which I believe I gave this build. And just focus on the stats, it would be far more valuable in baldur's Gate 3

    Champion subclass would fit better. Standard Spartans would be just better trained, better focused, and more driven. Plus extra fighting style, and the extra crits all the time with wolf totem and piercer... just saying a line of these guys would be a problem for most any army

      Avocado - 1 hp, randomly has either 16 AC or 8 AC depending on Ripeness. But it's impossible to tell whether or not it's ripe until an attack roll has been made on it.
